I've been flirting with this strategy the last couple of years but haven't had the nerve to not get a decent RB somewhere in Rounds 2-4. I just crave both those running and receiving yards the dual threat RBs can get you.
The other two league I play in have only 8 and 10 players respectively so the chances of having a good RB drop to me are better. It might be harder in a 16 team league.
It looks like your mock draft above went pretty well. Numbers wise, I would consider Ryan an elite (or near elite) QB, an all world WR and 2 other solid, if not better, WRs.
Going into the season with those RBs would worry me though. You would have to hope that one of those have a break out season. But then again, in a 16 team league, you might just have enough ammo at QB and WR to get by and do quite well.
Agreed, its one thing to practice this theory via mocks but very often teams will just stick to the old rb/rb/ rb/wr method. If I am going to use this method I will probably focus on running backs who are over the hill or have a history of injury.
So I'm doing PPR for the first time this year and I was wondering who would be good to pick in late rounds to help. 1pt per reception.
seems to be more sleepers this year than previous years.
RB
Bishop Sankey Titans: Will take over starting duties from Chris Johnson in Tennessee, downside is Greene could eat into Sankeys goal line carries.
Carlos Hyde 49ers :with the exception of Gore, runningbacks have been dropping like flies during training camp, Gore is on the wrong side of 30 for a running back , so I expect the niners to feature Hyde often to keep Gore fresh .
Devonta Freeman Falcons: Steven Jackson who is another runningback on the wrong side of 30 is once again dealing with leg issues (which kept him out of 5 games last season, and never topped more than 80 yards. Jacquizz Rodgers isn't getting it done as a backup rb (avg 3.5 yards a carry)
WR
Brandon Cooks Saints saints rookie wr who is expected to fill the Darren Sproles, role. I really think he could have a + 80rec season. His draft ADP right now is 7th/8th round (I do expect this to go up once preseason games start and his stock increases).
Terrence Williams: quietly had a 700 yard 5td season in limited games, which was enough for the cowboys to feel comfortable with releasing Miles Austin.
Brian Hartline: Fins has had back to back 1000 yard games and is still getting drafted around the 8th/9th round.
Charles Johnson: Dolphinsan athletic freak who is expected to be the browns deep thread while Josh Gordon serves his suspension
