The Official Fantasy Football advice thread. - Part 1

So I've got one draft in the books, (got McCoy at 4!!), and my team is fairly decent. I'll post it later when I can charge my phone.

I have another draft next week and I'm no.2 pick, I'm leaning towards McCoy again if he's not taken no.1, but anyone want to make cases for Peterson, Charles, or hell even Forte for me?

Curious to hear some opinions or stories of what you guys have done/seen in drafts so far this year.

Uh oh, just remembered the draft for my first fantasy season is this Tuesday. Time to read up on the rest of this thread and start studying!

McCoy should go no1 overall in ppr league in standard format its debatable between him and Charles. Norv Tuner will utilize Peterson more in the passing game so he should see an increase in rep TDs but no2 overall is still to high for him (unless you can find away to trade down to the no 4/5th spot and pick up an additional pick in the mid round)

good luck to you, and everyone else this season.

My draft is Thursday and as I said earlier I'm getting shafted out of most of my early round picks. What are some good late round guys I should be aiming for? For my keepers I picked Rodgers, Marshall and Harvin but I need a good TE, was thinking about using one of my only early picks to try and snag a good one but I think most of the top tier TE's are keepers for people

never go for a TE early the only one you should consider is Jimmy Graham, after that there is a huge drop off in points, there are plenty of sleeper TE that can be had in later rounds.

Good to know thanks Kaleb. Do you have any recomendations as to who I should aim for with my first 2 picks? I think my first pick is 19th and then 28th and then all the way back to 50th so I'm gonna need to get some decent sleepers or something. I have Rodgers for my QB, do you think I should go for 2 RBs or a RB and a WR? I know folks are saying the depth for WR this year is pretty deep so I think I'm leaning towards 2 RBs

it really depends on who is available, do you have your leagues cheat sheet available?.Yes wr this season is pretty deep this season.

What's a cheat sheet? This is my 2nd year playing and last year it was a different league with autodraft

a cheat sheet is a ranked list of players which are available in the draft, something like this (this is the one I have for my cbs league)

.
As you can see the players who are already been kept have a line through them. and the ones available dont.

hmm you on yahoo? ok then

go to you league, then select Draft Central then Draft kit then it will give a list of 5 of the top players in each position and underneath that it will say view all cheat cheat.

something like this

Somehow got Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch with my first two picks.

Ok I got the cheat sheet thing, do I use this to gauge who I draft?

My problem is I think my first pick is 19th, then 28th and then 50th so I'm getting screwed in the early rounds. The guy who owned the team before me shafted me

You can either draft the top ranked overall player regardless of position or you can fill a need and draft a 2nd rb personally if you are drafting that far down at 19 I would take the top runningback available at the time as the rb pool isnt as deep as the wr pool in this years draft

Well I found the draft thing and I have no 1st round, 2 2nd round picks, no 3rd and then 1 each for the rest of the round except 2 in the last round. I was thinking a wr and rb in round 2.

Doing my first auction draft this week (for football, I've done them before for baseball). Any pointers to follow?

It's a $200 salary cap, 15 players per team.

Then you need to address rb issue with your first pick

Well I have Marshall for my RB1 so I was thinking I need to go for a good WR1 to go with Harvin. So I was gonna go WR then RB with my two 2nd round picks since I don't have a third round pick. Or do you think I should go for 2 RBs?

So Here's an update on my 3 Fantasy Teams: no clue of draft order, just where I picked first.

Team 1 (1st Draft 8/16: 12 members, 4th pick) $30 League

QB: C. Kaepernick
WR1: Jordy Nelson
WR2: Wes Welker (grrrrr now!)
RB1: LeSean McCoy
RB2: Reggie Bush
TE: Jared Cook
Flex: CJ Spiller
D/ST: Arizona
K: Nick Novak

B1: Tyler Eifert (TE)
B2: Torrey Smith (WR)
B3: Tre Mason (RB)
B4: Eric Decker (WR)
B5: DeAndre Hopkins (WR)
B6: Dri Archer (RB)

Team 2 (2nd Draft 8/26 10 members, 5th pick) $50 PPR League

QB: Phillip Rivers
RB1: Jamaal Charles
RB2: Reggie Bush
WR1: Julio Jones
WR2: Vincent Jackson
TE: Vernon Davis
Flex: Kendall Wright
D/ST: Chiefs
K: S. Gostkowski

B1: Darren Sproles (RB)
B2: Trent Richardson (RB)
B3: Michael Floyd (WR)
B4: Andrew Hawkins (WR)
B5: Dri Archer (RB)
B6: Russell Wilson (QB)
B7: Antonio Gates (TE)

Team 3 (Final Draft 8/27, 10 members, 2nd Pick) $50 League

QB: Jay Cutler
RB1: Jamaal Charles
RB2: Doug Martin
WR1: Julio Jones
WR2: Andre Johnson
TE: Greg Olson
Flex: Ryan Mathews
D/ST: Arizona
K: J. Tucker

B1: Julian Edleman (WR)
B2: Bishop Sankey (RB)
B3: Sammy Watkins (WR)
B4: Kelvin Benjamin (WR)
B5: Khiry Robinson (HB)
B6: Andrew Hawkins (WR)
B7: Johnny Manziel (QB)

--My favorite team is probably team 2, team 3 has the most potential since I went with a lot of younger guys, team 1 can go north or south, 12 man league so sparce players near the end. I like that each team is pretty decent and all are pretty varied, so it will be a fun season.

My draft strategy is normally RB/WR off and on for 4-6 rounds, then QB and TE by 8th.
