hunter rider said:Thanks Willie,it's good to hear it wasn't to obvious, did it look like it was part of the scene rather than pasted over the practical footage ?
Willie Lumpkin said:Yes, they did a very good job with that element, and that's probably very difficult with a character that reflects light like he does.
I think it's just about impossible to completely fool the eye of a viewer who has spent their life viewing the real world. Even the best CGI out there always has some subtle . . . something . . . that you or I couldn't define, but just doesn't look right to us.
There's a little bit of that here, but the task of realizing a character like this is such a difficult proposition, that I'd say they did an outstanding job of bringing it to the screen.

hunter rider said:Great news,i can't WAIT to see itt: would you say he looked better in the daylight footage or the space shot ? i only ask because contrasting backgrounds can sometimes pose a problem
Willie Lumpkin said:The best views of him are in the tunnel and when they're in space, so both are low-light situations (by design?). In the daylight scenes, he's moving so fast, that he's just a blur, so we'll probably have to wait for a good, daylight shot.
Storm22 said:Love the eery sound the Surfer seems to make. From what I could see this movie seems to be heading in the right direction. The Thing crying was stupid and corny imo though.
That's something he would do in the book though. And attempt to play it off afterwards. He's not totally devoid of emotion, he was the one that kept pushing for them to get together anyway. We really need to start looking at classic FF and Silver Surfer stories, because people are saying Thing doesn't cry, SS doesn't phase through objects, when it's clear they do.Storm22 said:Love the eery sound the Surfer seems to make. hunter rider said:I see,i can only see it blurry but the shot where he turns and grabs Torch by the the throat looked amazing,am i right ?t:

Willie Lumpkin said:It was very cool (and probably a true CGI technical achievement), but I'm afraid that's one point where you are viscerally aware that both Johnny and The Surfer look a little unnatural.
Iron Maiden said:Now I wonder what the new Doom will look like...? I remember we did have a sneak peak around this time in 2004.
I'm not mad. I knew there wasn't from the trailer description.DOG LIPS said:JAL is going to be pissed. There's not much Alba in the trailer.![]()
Willie Lumpkin said:I agree on your first point, the sound (and in some cases lack of it ) really worked and added to the atmosphere.
As for Ben crying, I disagree. That's who Ben is. He acts and looks tough, butwe all know that deep down he's very sentimental, and there's no way he wouldn't shed a tear when two people that he loves deeply tie the knot.
He's not a blubbering fool like Hagrid in Harry Potter, but this is a special occasion.
