That was much better than anything else I've seen FF2 related. Hope they keep it up.

Thanks Willie,it's good to hear it wasn't to obvious, did it look like it was part of the scene rather than pasted over the practical footage ?

Yes, they did a very good job with that element, and that's probably very difficult with a character that reflects light like he does.

I think it's just about impossible to completely fool the eye of a viewer who has spent their life viewing the real world. Even the best CGI out there always has some subtle . . . something . . . that you or I couldn't define, but just doesn't look right to us.

There's a little bit of that here, but the task of realizing a character like this is such a difficult proposition, that I'd say they did an outstanding job of bringing it to the screen.

Keep in mind people this it he first teaser. The F/x are not done yet as in the first teaser for FF. Remember how different the same footage looked in the final trailer compared to the teaser when all the F/x were added in. Hell in the first teaser with Johnny on his ski's there was no fire. Same thing with the Ghost Rider teaser...the next trailer had many more F/x thrown in cause in the first teaser he was jumping over semi's...then they took those out and replaced them with Helicopters.

FF is still filming right now.

no one's gotten a better quality teaser yet?

dang... because it looks cool as hell.

Great news,i can't WAIT to see it:woot: would you say he looked better in the daylight footage or the space shot ? i only ask because contrasting backgrounds can sometimes pose a problem

Great point. Once you start watching the film your brain kind of adjusts and accepts it for most people. Like in the Hulk film. The Silver Surfer though is a very simple plain character. Also the damn movie isn't finished yet and the F/X has months of work ahead of it.

Love the eery sound the Surfer seems to make. From what I could see this movie seems to be heading in the right direction. The Thing crying was stupid and corny imo though.

The best views of him are in the tunnel and when they're in space, so both are low-light situations (by design?). In the daylight scenes, he's moving so fast, that he's just a blur, so we'll probably have to wait for a good, daylight shot.

I see,i can only see it blurry but the shot where he turns and grabs Torch by the the throat looked amazing,am i right ?:woot:

I agree on your first point, the sound (and in some cases lack of it ) really worked and added to the atmosphere.

As for Ben crying, I disagree. That's who Ben is. He acts and looks tough, butwe all know that deep down he's very sentimental, and there's no way he wouldn't shed a tear when two people that he loves deeply tie the knot.

He's not a blubbering fool like Hagrid in Harry Potter, but this is a special occasion.

That's something he would do in the book though. And attempt to play it off afterwards. He's not totally devoid of emotion, he was the one that kept pushing for them to get together anyway. We really need to start looking at classic FF and Silver Surfer stories, because people are saying Thing doesn't cry, SS doesn't phase through objects, when it's clear they do.

Thanks for going into detail, Willie. I think it will take a while to pull together the shots of him interacting with the characters. But if it looks as good as LOTR, than I will be satisfied. I suspect a lot of the dialogue/interior scenes can be worked on until late spring. Those don't necessarily mean location shooting in Vancouver.

Now I wonder what the new Doom will look like...? I remember we did have a sneak peak around this time in 2004.

It was very cool (and probably a true CGI technical achievement), but I'm afraid that's one point where you are viscerally aware that both Johnny and The Surfer look a little unnatural.

Well, I'm going to take my lunch now and see if I can catch it (hopefully my friends at the local theatre will let me slide in and out).

And it's right out of the comic, as Willie showed us:

As for the Surfer's eerie sound...In the low quality YouTube version (to me) it sounds remarkably like the eerie teleporting sound in the Star Trek-Next Gen episode "Tin Man," when Data is transported back to the Enterprise bridge by a living alien probe he was investigating.

Well when two fully CGI charatcers clash i think that is the most difficult thing to pull off and hopefully in post they can touch it up,they have lots of time:up:

That's one really cool thing about the way they're doing this. As much as we'd like to see him, it's cool to still have some surprises out there.

And I think Tim Story is very aware of the disappointment regarding Doom last time, and I think he knows he's got something this time. If he didn't, I think he'd show us something or let us know not to get our hopes up to prevent a big let-down and up-roar closer to actual release.

So far, the things he's told us - Ben's brow would be a little bigger, but don't expect much, the Fantasticar is really cool, and the Surfer is really cool and faithful - have all been right on.

He has also told us that "Full Armor" Doom looks great, so I'm pretty excited.

I'm looking forward to this trailer, any word when it will appear officially on the net?

how stupid do oyu have to be to not realese the trailer online so that more people go to the tehater. yes because the teaser is not online i will run to watch the movie.

Fair enough, thanks for pointing that out. I never read the F4 comics so didn't know.
