As for the "oversexed fluff" of FF1, I disagree. If anything, FF2 needs to push Alba's sexuality even farther. Sorry, but sexy sells and Alba is too hot of a product not to promote. In general, it's possible to have both depth and sexuality but you can't sacrifice the pure eye candy factor that Alba brings to the table. Being a "family friendly" franchise, it's a very fine line to walk. Still, if Spider-Man can keep "dad" and the teenage boys happy with shots of Kirsten Dunst in a wet dress every movie, then FF can do the same with Alba. Being the middle of summer, FF2 will need every advantage and every dollar their assets can generate. Trust me, a three second shot of Alba's clothes going invisible in a trailer would be worth tens of millions at the box office.

I agree. The split-second shot of Alba in her underoos from the FF1 trailers was probably worth a lot of the box-office revenue. That said, Alba is trying to get away from that, so I doubt we will see more skin. It will be interesting to see how Fox handles this in the trailers. Whatever anyone says, Jessica Alba was the face of the first movie, and she is even more popular now. How Fox promotes her will be a huge factor in the success or failure of this movie. I personally want to see a good third one, and if that means selling the sex... go for it. I'm so corrupt. t:

GREAT point here and hopefully it's something that's already been corrected. They've stated that we'll get the "real" Doom this time around. We'll see. Nonetheless, this is something that needs to be handled by the script and the writers. Since they're already shooting the film, I hope the character problems of Sue, Reed and Doom have already been addressed. I agree that this cast is of very high caliber and is just waiting to deliver excellence.

Good call. I'm looking on the positive side. I think they saw the weaknesses in the first film, and are trying to improve.

3) The biggest obstacle laying in FF2's path is the apathy and the hatred generated by the first film. Some general movie fans weren't overwhelmed by the action in the first film. Thus, it becomes essential that the early trailers be spectacular. Since FF1 showed huge potential, it's imperative to grab the average person who paid to see the first movie.

Gotta disagree here. Everyone I talked to who saw the film liked it. None were comic book fans.... but guess what? Most people aren't. It's a miniscule part of the box-office take. I liked it, and I enjoy comic books.
I don't think it much of an obstacle, I guess. Movies people in general hate don't make $350 million worldwide. Non-issue.

As for the blind haters, it becomes necessary to shout down the negative comments and stop any negative buzz that may be generated. A lot of the anti-FF crowd originated from the Batman Begins/FF unfriendly rivalry that was generated in 2005. Batman fans had the venom out early in some bizarre attempt to boost their franchise and that FF hatred has lasted until this day. It's strange but it's true.

It's just bizzare. I enjoyed this movie and was excited about FF2. I came to this website to find out more, and the negativity blew me away. After reading for a little bit, I realized the majority of the most vile opinions are generated by a couple of attention-hounds... very squeaky wheels, that beg to be greased. Once I learned that, I filter their crap out, and enjoy reading the well though out posts from the people who are not just blind haters. It's more enjoyable that way.

Sorry, I just had to scratch a slight irritation for a moment.

1.) General Reputation: This one doesn't really worry me as a majority of the outside audience I've talked to seemed to enjoy the film and thought it was ''fun." So in retrospect they'll probably go see this hoping for more "fun."

2.) Timing: This is a big thing that worries me. I look at the first film and see some potential, but it's short and too quick of pace. The same problem that X3 has. X3 is the perfect example of timing making the film lesser than what it could have been. X3 could have been phenomal. I mean come on it was suppose to be the Dark Phoenix Saga for christ sakes. But I digress that's a topic for the X-Forums.

3.) Characterization: This one is spot on. I have nothing else to add, Caliph.

4.) The "Wack" Factor: The script from the first one did have some very good ideas. The Bridge scene for one being a very good example: /the action/the teamwork/the climax with Debbie and the ring but it also did have some terrible ideas as well. A majority of all the Doom scenes make him a cheesy one liner throwing villian. Maybe knowing what kind of actor they have in Julian McMahon. They'll fix that this time around.

5.) Oversexed Fluff: Exactly, Cal. This one just rings it to me. Alba does have talent despite what some nay-sayers may say. It's not the best talent in Hollywood, but it's quite good enough to play Susan Storm, but the first film with it's ''Let's get her in her undies as much as we can" attitude is not what one would expect of Susan Storm. One might say looking at this franchise that if this continues we might have another Halle Berry on our hands.

5.) The "Wack" Job: Another spot on observation. Yet again I point my hand at X3. Just a terrible terrible way of editing a film together. And seeing as how the Four are said to travel alot in this one, let's see if they have the same magical ability as their mutant friends at Fox. Teleporting across the nation in nanoseconds. Hell, maybe Reed can get some of whatever technology the X-Men had to do that from Hank. t:


1.) Knowing Fox I fear the worst on this one. But lets hope it's both A and B.

2.) Silver Surfer and a potential epic scale story dealing with him and Galactus.

It isn’t that Green is prudish: her first big break was in Bernardo Bertolucci’s The Dreamers, where she bared all in the name of art. You just got the impression that she wanted to be taken seriously as an actress – especially considering how she responded to some of the dumber questions at the roundtable (one reporter – a female – asked her how she made her boobs look so big in a certain scene. Besides the fact that anyone who has seen The Dreamers knows that Green isn’t exactly flat-chested, how ridiculous is that question?).

She probably experienced some similarly dumb questions when promoting her first Hollywood movie, Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven, a Crusades epic that Fox cut to shreds for the original release. But it wasn’t just the stupid junketeers who made that particular press tour tough; it was also the fact that her role in the truncated version is a shadow of the bigger part she has in the full director’s cut.

“It was really painful, especially to do the publicity and talk about it since [the part in the shorter cut] wasn’t really what I had done – it was a love interest, and that’s it,” she told me when I asked her about the film. “But I learned a lot from it. I realized, you know what, it’s just a movie, this is not your life.” Still, it was not easy to face the slashed version. “It was really painful. I had my glass of red wine.”

It probably took a little more than a glass of red wine to calm Ridley Scott down. “Ridley was really angry,” she said. “It was cut like three weeks before the distribution. You can see it, the editing’s weird.”

While Green blames the whole thing on the studio - “They’re scared of being too dark” – she said - it didn’t stop her from coming to Sony for the very major role of Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale. Lynd is probably the most complex and interesting Bond girl in the series’ history, but it’s another role that could have been destroyed by heavy handed editing. “I’m like, ‘Will I be cut?’ But it’s just like, what can I do?”

Its refreshing for a change to hear an actor be honest about things like this in interviews, more of them should do it.If other big studios don't cast her in their future films because of comments like this i think that says more about them than it does about her.

I think with SR he had to much freedom and went overboard but under tight restrained circumstances he works really well like dealing with the Fox suits
