Why does everyone think that Johns cares about Wally? Everyone keeps saying that its obvious he likes Wally form his run but IIRC didn't he spend most of the run fleshing out sliver age characters, fleshing out Keystone City, talking about how great Barry was, and screwing up Wally's life?

He wrote one of the critically acclaimed runs on Flash with Wally as the lead.

Johns' didn't do this with Kyle.

If Flash[Bart] and powered up SuperBoy prime raced, who would win?

Randomly looking through this topic's pages and saw this.
>.> Sadly I'd have to say Flash, and only because, while SuperBoy Prime is a super powerful m.f. Bart is a freakin Flash and Prime couldn't outspeed the red and yellow blur~

I'm not sure I like it. Am I the only one who wishes the twins stay out of the picture ? I feel unconfortable withe idea "I'm a superhero, and my whole family is superheroic!" . It's a little too "Incredible" for me.

Er...Marvel pulled it off. Magneto, Pietro, Scarlet witch~
DC pulled Green Latern's Alan Scott, Jade, and Obsidian~

Nope. I'm planning to get to it today. I hope Burnett's as good as Peyer was, although with the series' hiatus after December, I suppose it doesn't matter either way.

I just read it and I thought it was decent. I hope Wally's not going to be stuck at the speed of sound for too long. The kids' reaction to going to school was pretty funny. They've grown on me a lot thanks to Peyer. :)

I've read the issue, Burnett writes a good Wally, his Flash is competent and experienced, the kids do not annoy and are supporting characters to Wally, and the characters interact very well with one another. My only complaint is the villain, which I'm not very interested in. I really hope there will be 2 Flash books after rebirth, one for Barry protecting Central City, and one for Wally protecting Keystone.

The story idea sounds a bit dull (I'm so fed up of insect villains) but I'll keep picking the book up.

It's a travesty that Peyer wasn't given a long run on the title.

I liked this issue but it kinda seems like they are trying to depower Wally so that when Barry comes back he can be the fastest.

Yeah man. It's amazing to me how much better Peyer, and now Burnett, can do with editorial mandates than pretty much any other writer ever (although Johns did wonders with the mandated Impluse-->Kid Flash change), but you can still smell the stink of a top-down directive on these two arcs.

Er...Marvel pulled it off. Magneto, Pietro, Scarlet witch~

Magneto's a villain most of the time. Scarlet Witch has never had her own ongoing and is usually in team books like Avengers or sharing the spotlight with Vision. Quicksilver is similar though he has had an ongoing that Magneto and Wanda were never apart of and it got canceled quickly.

DC pulled Green Latern's Alan Scott, Jade, and Obsidian~

The only times they're really together was in team books like JSA. Usually they're separated from each other or rarely interact in books they appear in together or one is in the supporting cast in other titles. Jade's dead now, too.

The only one who has had an ongoing was Scott and that happened way before he had kids.

Them never having an ongoing of their own doesn't mean they don't work. Hell, most characters don't have an ongoing. You going to tell me that the Martian manhunter sucks?

Ugh, when did this book stop being fun? Just read the latest issue and I have no problem saying that Wally's wife and kids were the worst thing to happen to him and my enjoyment of this title. It's not that I dislike them as characters cuz they've grown on me like Corp said. But they're holding Wally back.

I miss Bart more than ever :(

It's funny, because most of what DC is doing, I still love, but it's just not the cohesive, sleek, streamlined work of comic-book superhero artistic genius that the entire DCU was for like ten years before Infinite Crisis.

I think they just need to de-emphasize the kids a bit. Wally's been married to Linda and had a surrogate family around him for years, but the stories were never really about that to the extent they've become since his post-Infinite Crisis return. Wally just needs to have some adventures again without his kids constantly being at the forefront of everything.

Not that it matters, since this is his last arc anyway.

A Flash newbie needs some recommendations.

I have always liked Wally West as a character but, for whatever reason, never really got into his book. Since Geoff Johns has some big Flash stuff in the works for next year, I figured now would be a good time to start getting into it.

I've looked around, and it seems that most people agree that Messner-Loebs, Waid, Morrison/Millar, and Johns were the best runs on the Flash. For someone relatively green to the whole Flash mythos, where would be the best place to start?

Mark Waid:

Return of Barry Allen
FLASH TERMINAL VELOCITY
Dead Heat
Race Against Time

And if you want, Flash and Green Lantern: The Brave and the Bold

Geoff Johns

Wonderland
Blood Will Run
Rogues
Crossfire
Blitz
Ignition
Secret of Barry Allen
Rogue War
