I liked Bart as the Flash. Kept the family business going.

To this day I maintain that Bart as the Flash was not that bad and could still have been great if DC had stuck to their horses.

Hmmm. I had an idea.

What if Wally West turned evil?

You guys were so gung-ho for Hal's legacy to be besmirched.

What if Wally's kids were killed by Zolomon. Wally goes bat**** crazy and then kills him. He then keeps it up and then becomes the Reverse Flash.

Would certainly be a dramatic story arc and would revitalize an otherwise stagnant character. I mean let's face it, Wally was marginalized long before Barry's return. Bart was the Flash for Pete's sake.

Anywho... how would you feel about that?

:gl: :gl: :gl:
:facepalm

How was Bart being the Flash a good thing? I mean, if you look at the run, he only had like three or four decent issues before he got killed. The Relaunch sucked balls and for most of it he was all emo about having to become the Flash in the first place. He had a useless girlfriend, he got aged up stupidly, and, and,.......that whole thing was a mess. I mean dear God, had you guys read any freakin' Flash before the relaunch?

I was a big Impulse fan and liked him as Kid Flash....I still maintain that the Impulse costume is one of the best superhero costumes period

The execution was rough, but the idea of it - Bart becoming the Flash - was not bad, IMO.

Sure, after a natural progression where he actually spent a good amount of time being Kid flash then taking over the mantel. That would have been awesome. What we got was s**t.

Well, sometimes things don't happen naturally. Sometimes things don't happen safely or comfortably, they just happen whether or not you're ready for them and you either have to step up to the plate and deal with it, or you can go cry in the corner. What's it gonna be, Admiral? You gonna step up, or are you gonna die?

Sorry, just finished BSG this weekend. Gods, that ending wtf.

'Course we got s**t. How could it have not been? DiDio literally brags that they set Bart up to fail, that they were just wasting our times with that series until Wally...oh wait, they mean Barry...could come back.

And yet, even then, there was really nothing wrong with the Guggenheim issues until the Countdown editorial dickdance. Which is why I believe Bart could carry a series, quite easily in fact, if DC actually wanted him to instead of wasting our times with filler. I mean, he did carry a series before.

geez, are you talking about your first time? Cuz they got a thread for that.

i was never opposed to the idea of bart being the flash, i just didnt feel like it was his time and i think DC realized it far too late...

I'm sure Bart could carry a series, and yeah, the Guggenheim issues weren't bad. But everything before those issues was. Personally, I think Bart being forced into the Flash role before he was ready would've worked a lot better if he hadn't been aged up to some age that was arbitrarily deemed acceptable for "full hero" status. A teenage Flash trying to walk the line between honoring the legacy he's inherited and retaining his youth and identity could've been fun. But what we got was f***ing terrible, and on top of that, they made a major mistake by not giving us proper closure on Wally.

I didn't see Wally not having closure as a large point because, contrary to everything that DC tried to convince of us OYL, the man was not f***ing dead. He was just somewhere else. He could have come back at any moment someone really felt like it, and that's exactly what happened.

We only know all this now. Back when Bart's comic actually started, pretty much everything about Wally's status, other than the fact that he was gone, was a big question mark. Personally, I would've liked to have that issue put to rest before starting up a series with a new Flash.

I figured he wasn't dead when his wife and kids went with him into the speed force. If it was a fatal incident, I really don't think that would make sense at all.

Johns is pretty retcon-happy. I'm surprised Savitar's cult is still around, too.

Nah, there was some guy running around (pun intented) that was good and he had a nice run (pun again)
But then The REAL Flash stepped up.
Wally is like Christian Bale
Barry is like Keaton

Both are good in their own right but Barry cant even catch up :oldrazz:

Well, I don't know about that really. I mean I like Barry and all, he's cool, but you know, he's dead:o
