I love Manapul, HATE Barry. Damnit. Torn.
Indeed. :csad:

I might skim through it on the racks to admire the art a little bit, but I can't picture myself buying it.

Barry married the reporter first. And Iris was always a reporter. Wally was more interesting when he was single before Linda and the kids....Wally has always been a weak imitation of Barry, even at the very beginning. Of course they would give him a reporter wife eventually just like he had a police job once...

No, no, one of their top reporters was murdered only to reappear years later as a retired old lady and then suddenly go back to looking like she hasn't aged a day.

It's a shame, too, because I think having Barry Allen not aged a day, but doting on an older Iris, would have created this sweet, quite sad dynamic, which would have been different from a lot of relationships in superhero comics. But I imagine they thought that would have been too creepy, seeing The Flash making out with old ladies.

The smartest move Johns could make, I feel, is continuing to have the Rogues be prominently featured. Because if you look back, I think the build-up to this new Flash ongoing on the Rogues end of things (Final Crisis: Rogues Revenge, the Rogues parts of Blackest Night: Flash) has largely made for more enjoyable reading than the Barry Allen side of the build-up (Flash: Rebirth, the Barry parts of Blackest Night: Flash). For example, this opening arc - "The Dastardly Deaths of the Rogues", or whatever it's called, I'm as interested to see Captain Cold's investigation into the murders as I am to see Barry's, if not moreso.

Whoa, I thought I was the only one who thought the Rogues were more interesting than the main story. I agree with you on that.

I thought Johns did a great job building upon Wally's personality that Waid had developed. The Rogues have interested me ever since Johns used them in Wonderland through his entire run in the series. I currently think the Rogues are more entertaining than Barry for now, but I feel like Johns will build onto Barry's character. I felt Flash Rebirth wasn't as revolutionary as Green Lantern Rebirth.

They should get a series of their own. I'd snap up a Rogues comic in a heartbeat.

I would too, they are easily some of the best comic characters created.

"Everything has its melting point"- Heatwave

I loved that line in the BN off shoot.

I feel like Johns will build up Barry even more with this new series. i'm not..too worried.

Get molested by a rabid Barry Allen fan as thanks for his bringing him back and develop an intense hatred for the character.

Every time I read something by Johns anymore I start wondering when's this fanfic getting to the mpreg chapter already

I think Superboy being Superman and Luthor's lovechild slightly covers that.

All I'm saying is if Barry Allen carrying Hal Jordan's baby isn't the apotheosis of everything Geoff Johns represents as an artist then I don't know what is.

Edit: Then he kills the baby

Edit: THEN BRINGS IT BACK FROM THE DEAD omg!

EXTREMELY BELATED EDIT: THE BABY IS SINESTRO

In seriousness, in light of recent JUSTICE-related events, I have to ask...has Geoff Johns ever killed off a child? I mean we all know about that one time in Detroit, but in comics? I can't remember any instance. It seems to me that, in light of him becoming All Powerful God of Creativeness or whatever at DC, there might be some hope that DC will kill fewer children in the future.

He had Zoom kill Wally and Linda's twins... before erasing their deaths from the timeline. But yeah, they were still killed with no indication that the twins' deaths weren't going to be permanent, until BANG! they were back. So he effectively canceled out his own comic kids' deaths, rendering this post of mine pointless.

Yeah, seems like people have forgot about that one for some reason.

I thought it was supposed to be ambiguous that the kid was dead? I can't recall it exactly, but I thought the kid vanished in a flash in Kid Zoom's hands, leaving him as surprised as anyone. Didn't Johns already play with Weather Wizard's son having brewing powers?

I just remember the kid getting hit by lightening, or something like that. I don't remember there being a whole lot of ambiguity to it, honestly. It's been awhile, though, so I guess maybe.

No I remember now, Kid Zoom did his whole "snapping the fingers" thing and the baby literally just disappeared into thin air. I guess it's sort of ambiguous, if you can consider being eviscerated by friction at superluminal speeds "ambiguity." But then, considering all that weirdness with the Speed Force or whatever, I wouldn't put it past Johns coming up with some reason for him to be alive still.
