What the hell!?!

Actually this is in character for the Flash. He probably has the motorbike because he thinks it'll help him pick up women

Its just merchandising.

Want to know why a sequel to Cars will come before Incredibles. Because kids ate up the Cars merch

Yeah, but he always had the attention span of a gnat. It just seemed weird for him to be a police scientist. I liked the mechanic angle from the comics' "Ignition" more. Of course, Wally usually doesn't even have a job beyond being a superhero...
I never really liked that. Why would Wally who grew up spending most of his time with scientist, mentors were supposed to be geniuses and was on his way to getting doctorate in physics suddenly decide to be a mechanic.

Depends on the person, I guess. He may not have liked his physics course or felt it got in the way of duty of a superhero. Or maybe he just wasn't as intelligent as his counterparts and couldn't quite cut it. I don't remember if they ever address that or not

Well at first he didn't pursue a career in physics because he choose to pretty much be a full time superhero, but when Johns took over making him a mechanic seemed to be his way of downplaying Wally's intelligence in order to differentiate him from Barry.

Might have been why they decided on that path. I liked when Wally had his id known and worked with cops and everything. I thought that was a cool way of differentiate from Barry

EDIT: That was a Wally, right? That was a thing, right? For some reason a huge doubt hit me after I posted that

Yup, and I agree.

All the Flashes have been shown to be intelligent.I don't think Wally ( or any of the other speedsters) should have to loose his intelligence just because Barry was smart too. Even without his public identity Wally's personality was different enough anyway.

I loved the mechanic thing. he worked with the cops, but wasn't one himself. I thought it was pretty neat.

so after reading the first Barry issue a couple of days ago, I'm hard pressed to remember even a single mention of Wally in there. was there one I just don't remember? or was there really not even a single line given to the guy who's been the Flash for the past 20 years?

Is that such a big deal? It's Barry's series. Are we really going to make a fuss of every single issue that doesn't reference Wally? And in any case, he's already been brought up quite a bit in Flash: Rebirth.

I'm not making a fuss or anything, I just think its rather strange to have a first issue that sets up the new tone and status quo to be completely devoid of any mention of him.

I want to see Barry and Wally talk about who gets to do what, and where they stand with each other. I think most of that has been implied that "oh, we can both be Flash, along with Jay". but I'd like to see a peaceful scene between the two of them where they just sit down and talk it out.

and since we're not getting our Wally backup, I was hoping he would at least be a rather major supporting character in the series, but it looks like he won't be. It may still be too early to tell after just 1 issue, but I get the feeling he won't be showing up very often.

Again, I'd say all that kind of stuff was sorted out already in Rebirth.

Wally appears in the Flashpoint teaser so clearly he'll be in this story at some point...but, really, going into this series with the intent of seeing Wally is just setting yourself up for disappointment. If he appears, great. But it's certainly no surprise if he doesn't.

Personally, I'm hoping that DC pulled Wally's backups in order to expand on them and turn them into a Wally series. That would make my day. But I'm not holding my breath or anything.

As for the mechanic thing, I don't think it was a jab at Wally's intelligence. He's clearly intelligent enough to use super-speed and the Speed Force in physics-based applications not even Barry thought of, so the very nature of how his powers work necessitates that he's a pretty smart person. He just has more of an interest in cars than DNA swabs and petri dishes.

It's not like mechanics are automatically idiots, either. They're highly trained because of how complex cars are now, and they usually have a very strong aptitude for logic and engineering skills. I mean, I sure as hell don't know how to pull an engine apart and put it back together.

I didn't watch CSI out of a lack of interest before, but that reason is totally better. Now I know why every other police procedural I've ever seen makes jokes about how "this isn't CSI" when people demand laser-sharp images off of 30-year-old security cameras. :o

Just read issue 1 there, rather good. Not really up to speed with any of the villians but hey, I'll get to it some day.

I shall keep up with the series for it has stuck my interests

It just kills me that Johns had to screw with Barry's history with his parents. He never stays faithful to anything. He probably didn't even know both of Barry's parent's were alive, just like he had Kal-L work for Perry White and have an Arctic Fortress of Solitude with the giant key...such a hack.

I'm hoping that he'll fix that. I think that concept will kinda build to a head and Johns's climactic arc will be him dealing with that. then we'll probably get a new writer.

aaand i'm just gonna make this post so i'm not sitting at 666. thanks and gig 'em.

Just read Flash # 1.... It was a little dull and I'm hating that Captain Boomerang is alive again he was always a lame villain to begin with.

I don't mind Captain Boomerang sr being back but I do wish that we hadn't lost Owen. He was a character who had potential I thought

Whatever happened with Piper? I liked him during Waid's run, but I lost track of him after all the Countdown malarky.

He helped the Rogues to take down Inertia to avenge the death of Kid Flash but he hasn't been seen since then. I'm rather hoping he'll show up in Flash as I'd be interested to see what his relationship with Barry will be like

did Barry ever deal with him? or was Piper solely a Wally supporting character?
