So, what, was he only willing to do handjobs by the time his return to Wally rolled around? :(

By then he was telling awesome stories at Boom! and all he could come up with for Wally's half ass return was vagina monsters.

Yeah, I'll blame that one on DiDio for forcing Wally into the role of useless placeholder between Bart's unceremonious death and Barry's too-ceremonious return.

Frankly, it seems like no one really gives a **** that Barry is back though.

Because Rebirth is still too far away. Once that hits, everyone's gonna go crazy again and we'll have a Wally vs. Barry thread within a year. :)

Anyway, I heard there was something in FC #7 that specifically sets up Flash: Rebirth. Anyone with loose morals and a set of spoiler tags burning up their pocket want to clue me in?

I think there won't be the same excitement for Barry's return as there was with Hal. Because Barry went out like a champ while Hal, with everything he does went out like a *****.

Maybe not as much, but there'll still be loads of excitement. It's Johns and Van Sciver making sweet, sweet love to the Silver Age and engaging in gentle caressing and pillow-talk afterward. People love that s*** for whatever reason.

At least Johns makes it interesting 1 out of 4 times unlike Meltzer who makes it interesting like never.

Honestly, you should read Final Crisis. It's amazing. The closest thing I can think of is [blackout]Wally and Barry helping to take out Darkseid together in a way that involves breaking the superluminal barrier and going intangible and maybe entering the Speed Force. Not really sure what exactly sets up Flash Rebirth though. You see, at the very least, Barry back in the mainline DCU by the end of it, so I don't really know what anyone's talking about, unless they just mean that Barry came back in Final Crisis, which is kind of old news.[/blackout]

Final Crisis is many things. Amazing, is not one of them. However, it is not terrible.

Controversy!
Not really they aren't, though.
Well, it's been a while since I read JSA (although I did pick up this week's issue now that the needless Kingdom Come quasi-sequel is finally over), but they were both on the team when I stopped reading a few months ago. Did they leave recently?

Hmm. Okay, I guess that could be what the reviewer meant. Thanks.

No, but they were never really on the team. They're on the team in the sense that they have rooms at the Brownstone.

Jakeem, maybe, but Sand was the team's leader early on.
Strange, I hadn't noticed. Shouldn't a team leader be present occasionally? Doesn't have to be obnoxiously present like Black Canary in Meltzer's JLA, but at least a little bit?

Well, he's not the leader anymore. He hasn't been since he went all sand-monstery back when the series was still called JSA, even though he got better. I like the reasoning Johns gave for Sand's lessened presence in Justice Society of America (that he's begun operating as a private detective to follow up on the prophetic dreams he inherited from Wesley Dodds), but something more really ought to be done with that. He's a staple JSA character as far as I'm concerned, and the focus shouldn't be shifted off of him to useless new additions like Cyclone. That's part of why I quit reading the series in the first place.

Yes, I knew he was the leader in JSA, I'm talking about Justice Society of America. I was just fine with seeing Sand and Jakeem at the level at which I saw them in JSA. I NEVER see them in JSoA.

Oh, okay. Yeah, I'd really like the focus to stabilize around a core cast of characters again, and that core cast must include Alan Scott, Jay Garrick, and Ted Grant. The others I can take or leave, but Alan, Jay, and Ted should be front and center on any JSA roster, and the fact that since the relaunch they've been either pushed into the background (Alan and Jay) or given really terrible, clichéd plotlines (Ted) has soured me on JSoA.

I'd like it to go back to being what it was in the latter portions of JSA. That was a great team of guys. And they could add Jack Knight back in. Enjoyed that.

It's a shame JSA: Classified didn't survive. Although, really, it's more a shame that DC clearly didn't have any interest in helping it survive, since most of the stories in it were crap done by crap creators they needed to stick somewhere.

Yeah, JSA Classified should have been better. I did really like JLA Classified, so of course they marginalized it and canceled it.

It didn't help that almost every story was just a Wildcat or Alan Scott story. I love both of the characters, but if I'm not mistaken, I thought the idea behind the Classifieds was to highlight different characters.

No, it was to highlight how badass Alan Scott and Wildcat are.

Then they should've had badass stories with Alan Scott and Wildcat. Instead they just had s***ty stories with them.
