Yeah, I suppose plenty of people have randomly de-aged without any explanation. Pa Kent went from looking like he just crawled out of a grave to looking like he's in his mid-50s when Smallville started.

Remember how old Martha looked in Identity Crisis?

That just means Barry is an important part of Wally's backstory, which is fine. That's how I prefer Barry. But the second he displaces Wally as the center of the Flash family, that's when I have a problem.

Anyway, did anyone else notice that Wally's Aunt Iris looked really young for no apparent reason in this issue? Last time I saw her, I'm pretty sure she was considerably older.

See i thought this as well, until i remembered that Joan Garrick was watching over Bart and not his grandmother Iris. I always thought Joan was Iris for some reason.

I didn't. I know who Iris is and who Joan is. I just remember Iris looking much older during Johns/Kolins' run than she does now. And also being blonde, possibly.

Man, all the people who are saying the first issue sucked and was "too slow":

**** that.

[blackout]There were some pretty intense scenes that weren't slow at all. Like the beginning scene for instance. That **** was pretty intense. And sure there was a lot of set-up stuff but it was pretty necessary to establish key things for new readers. But it also had crazy moments like the flash skeleton those kids found or how Barry turned that one speedster to dust.[/blackout]

I thought this was a nice, thick, chock-ful-of-awesome first issue.

Flash Rebirth was a nice opening shot. I can see the parallels from GL : Rebirth. I can't wait for my Barry info to come flooding back. It's already got my curiosity peeked as too how this Black Flash stuff is going to work.

I also can't help but think what Barry's role in Blackest Night will be and if these Grim Reaper Flashes might have something to do with it.

:gl: :gl: :gl:

The story's going to work like this: Black Flashes will be dead zombie speedsters come back from the dead, yellow flashes will be powered by fear, red flashes will be powered by anger, and green flashes will be powered by willpower.

black flash is dead. barry has the death touch. barry is now the grim reaper for speedsters... im calling it now

Should I pick up Flash rebirth?

It's not Barry's typical attitude. He seems that way now, because in this issue, he's preoccupied with the memory of his mother's murder...something I've never known to be a part of Barry's history. I guess they felt the need to give him some kind of personal demons to struggle with, in order to make him more interesting.

At this point, it's probably some kind of requirement for superhero writers to give the hero some kind of deeply traumatic experience that makes them into the person they are today. They all have to be psychologically scarred, tortured, haunted by the past. In this case, the way it was presented in this issue, and just slapped onto this character from out of nowhere...I think it's just cheap. I'm disappointed, and I don't know if I'm even going to stick around to see what they do with it.

i liked the Wally, Bart and Jay scenes Barry... I've always liked him but he never was as awesome as the other three. I've read Flash Comics featuring Barry, so I'm already familiar with him.

wait, if wallys getting he new costume...
are you thinking that johns may rape wally by having him sacrifice for barry and take the responisbility of being the black flash so barry can return to life? hmmmmmmmmmm hmmmmmmm sounds like something that would happen!

That sounds like something that WON'T happen.
