Probably the best possible single-sentence description of Johns' Green Lantern run.

Its not so much the fear insect that Johns made, that I hate, just the idea of making Hal out to be a victim and not a man who actually made choices.

Which actually might have made him more interesting........nah.

This post has been brought to you by the "Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnn f**k Barry Allen" foundation also brought to you in part by "Hal Sucks Monkey Balls"

Alas, it's not.
Parallax I don't get. I mean, look at any appearance Parallax made before Rebirth, and compare that to any appearance Parallax made after Rebirth (most of which happen to be written by Johns). They couldn't act more differently.

Also, the yellow avatar uses green energy. ...Uh huh.
I just meant his appearance, not his behavior. Fear demon = scary cockroach. I get that. Willpower being = passive whale? Not so much.

Neither avatar holds up under close scrutiny. I mean, how is Parallax, or any yellow lantern for that matter, powered by fear? I mean, Green Lanterns are limited by their willpower, but yellow lanterns are limited by... their ability to inspire fear? Because they've never been shown being more powerful when their prey is scared or less powerful when their opponents are brave. I mean, if that's all it takes, why would any Green Lantern be scared ever? "Hey, it's those guys who are completely powerless if I'm not afraid. Very scary." And if that IS the case, why is Parallax's ability to possess based on his victim's ability to FEEL fear, rather than inspire it? Why would the avatar of fear choose a host that is especially weak to the emotion upon which its corps feeds?

Where you been Eagleaguer?

And you're right. That doesn't make too much sense. But the whole avatar idea doesn't make much sense either.

Wow Eagleaguer, you should tell Johns that. Everything he wrote kinda falls flat now.

Yup. Giant green space whale.

Though a giant green billionaire going to drop millions at a casino would have been interesting as well. :o

Didn't he take lightning lads arm off?

I don't know. My bronze age legion knowledge is pretty weak.

You know, I couldn't tell if you were being sarcastic or not, so I looked at IGN's reviews, and Escape was getting 5.5's or so, but surprisingly, they were giving Dance scores in the high 8's. But I learned years ago to skip Aftermath books, so I'll stick with that policy.

Dance isn't great, unfortunately. Super Young Team plus Casey should have ruled, but it didn't.

Escape is like the movie Cube plus secret agents.

Right, but what's it about, though? Like, the story/plot?

Essentially, Tom Tresser wakes up and a bunch of trippy s*** happens, and he realizes he and a bunch of guys from his DEA/Checkmate are stuck inside some sort of multidimensional prison that Waller helped engineer.
