Love his art on Flash. Perfect marriage of artist and character.

CCI: DC Nation Kickoff LIVE! @Newsarama

Fan in a Flash shirt asked about Wally West — "he's taking care of the kids," DiDio said. "Is there anything actively in development for Wally? He's a character that had his own book for 20 years," the fan continued, which drew applause. "I agree completely," DiDio said. "And we didn't kill him!" DiDio said that they're simply pulling Wally "off stage" for a bit to fully establish Barry Allen with younger fans who may not be familiar with him, but when that happens, Wally will be back in a big way.

"He's a character that had his own book for 20 years"... so we decided to yank it out from under him! Meh, just wake me whenever they actually do something with Wally again.

Geoff Johns just said Wally West fans don't need to wait till 2011 to get some Wally stuff happening. :)

Even though I do hate to see him put into limbo, as I've said before, I really do think it's for the best for Wally as a character be there now. Obviously, there's no interest in doing anything with him from an editorial standpoint, and when there's basically zero interest (especially at DC), it just means the character will get thrown around and screwed up. It sucks that they canned the co-feature, but it's probably for the best right now

True. Nightwing had a batch of utterly horrible stories directly after DiDio changed his mind about killing him off. Hopefully they're taking this time to figure out some kind of game plan for Wally so that whenever the spotlight does fall on him again, they can actually do something good with him.

You have a very valid point here. I rather Wally be on ice instead of have some sort of lackluster co-feature where he's written terribly.

I like Wally, and hope to see him return, but Ive enjoyed Barry being back so far. I like that he's just some guy, kind of a square maybe a little dull, thats also a superhero...I don't think he needed the added tragedy in an attempt to make him more interesting. There are plenty of heroes with depressing histories, it was nice just to have this regular guy for once, at least for me.

Yeah, but that's just what Johns does now. I don't think he's capable of writing a character without retconning some kind of downer into their past anymore. See also: Mera actually being an assassin instead of a queen from a faraway land that Aquaman shared a fairy tale romance with.

Flash: Speed Force has been announced starring Wally West and Bart Allen. Jessie Quick and XS will be characters as well.

Excellent. Who's writing it and who's drawing it? That may very well be my return to the world of Flash comics.

The other cool thing about Barry was that he was a comics fan. I mean, he more or less is the average comic reader of today. It had to be crazy in the 50's, the idea that a grown man had kept a collection of comic books. In many ways he was a personification of Dr. Jerry Bails and Roy Thomas I would say.

The team up of Wally and Bart sounds like Dick and Damian. A younger guy who stood up to the challenge of filling in his mentor's shoes, establishing himself as a good replacement and his own man; alongside a kid who also loved the aforementioned mentor, but holds almost no respect for the replacement.

But that's not true. Bart respects the hell out of Wally, given that Wally and Max taught him virtually everything he knows about being a hero. He may mess with Wally, but there's a genuine respect there that goes both ways.

Not really. The only thing that the Dick/Damien relationship has in common with the Wally/Bart relationship is that you have someone who was like a son to the original and has taken up the mantle (Dick/Wally) and is mentoring someone who is a direct relation to the original in his original sidekick role (Damien/Bart).

Bart and Damien have no admirable love for Barry and Bruce because they knew them for only short periods of time and the love that they do have for them is more along the lines of them being family.

And at this point, Damien respects the hell out of Dick. So really, the Dick/Damien relationship is starting to mirror the Wally/Bart one.

Again not really. Wally really didn't mentor Bart, that was Max Mercury and then he was raised by Jay and Joan. Wally originally saw Bart as someone who was unable to assume the mantle of the Flash until he got shot in the kneecap by Deathstroke.

Dick on the other hand has assumed responsibility of raising Damian and is mentoring him. Also, Damian is younger than Bart on a psychological level, his mind is far more impressionable than Bart's.
