Griffin is the most unlikable character I've read in a long time.
He definately ranks up there with Supergirl the new Nightwing.

What? Jay could tap the Speed Force just fine before, and since its "destruction" the only person we've seen tap it is Bart, who's not even a Flash yet.
Relax. In ten years they will pretend that Wally was under the control of a big yellow monster who made him disappear, and it will be as if nothing ever happened.

I don't know what kind of crazy juice got pored into everyone's cornflakes this week, because I really liked this issue. There was a lot of respect for the past and also a lot of progression towards the future. The story was straightforward and easy to follow, and I cared a lot about Nu Bart and his whole emo deal.

Not sure what people are complaining about the art for, either; it looks fine to me. Hell, compared to some others that came out this week COUGHSHADOWPACTCOUGHWHEEZE it was like frikkin' Caravaggio.

I've never had any problems at Mad City, myself. In fact, when I told them that Gamezilla was selling the Alex Ross action figure of the Parasite for $14.99 instead of MC's price of $18.99, Steve dropped the price for me to match GZ's and he wondered why I didn't tell him sooner.

Mike Roberts was the only reason I stayed at Mad City for so long because he and I have known each other since 1984 as teenaged comic buying geeks.

Back in 1984, I gave him my poor copy of Uncanny X-Men #1 for a drive home  We had no reason to think it would skyrocket in price 8 years later, and he was collecting an entore run of Uncanny. We still joke about it to this day and I have no regrets. It is a funny story.

Steve's ok too, though a tad geeky at times. But generally a nice kid.

I can understand why people tend to stay away from Gamezilla because of the general "lack of comic book knowledge" from its employees. Whenever I'm there, they ask me to answer people's comic book questions. :D

But Moncton is lucky to have 3 stores in a city of 125 000 people. It keeps the discounts higher and better deals can pop up due to the competition. Though I can't see all 3 thriving... one of them will buckle at some point. And from what I hear through the grapevine, it will be Mad City. Not because they don't have the money, but because the Devona's (the owners of United Book Stores) have minimal interests in the comics and only keep it around because it makes a little money for them. Since they bought Reed's Newstand on Main street, they're interested in turning the Mad City location into a coffee drinking/newspaper reading type of joint.... which the comics might interfere with. They almost sold off their Comics franchise to Pat (the owner of Spin-It Records on Main Street) a few years ago. Pat has every collectible stuff known to man except comics, which he wants to get into but he lacks the knowledge. Both Pat and Rob (from Gamezilla) want me to work for them in some comic book capacity, but I have minimal interest at this time in my life. I'd be more inclined to help Pat because he really is a comic book greenhorn. Anyhoo, when Pat & Chuck Devona came within inches of making a deal, Chuck Devona backed out because he started seeing a profit from his comics and told Pat "I'll call you when the business starts to suck again" What an idiot.

Another reason that I don't like the Devonas at Mad City is because a few years ago, they dismissed my 5 year old son who was asking a question about an expensive toy there, and they probably figured "why bother" because he was too little to pay for it. Really pissed me off and I let Mr. Devona have an earful (he was the one ignoring him). He changed his tune afterwards and talked to my kid like he was royalty, but the damage was done.

I could go on, but I'd sound like someone's Grandpa talking about the comic shop gossip of Moncton over the last 25 years. :D :)

:(

I guess I'm too young to remember "the old days" like that. I generally don't have a problem with either Gamezilla or Mad City. I just prefer United because they're more friendly to me and Gamezilla always seems cold and indifferent when I go there. At MC, I'll always talk to Steve about comic book movies and what character can beat another. I also spend a good amount of time teasing Shannon and trading insults with him :D

That's sad to hear that Mad City might be shutting down. They've been doing all those renovations and making the place look all pretty, and I actually applied for a job there a while back. I hope they don't have to turn the place into another damn coffee shop.

This issue seemed kinda all over the place. It didn't read like a good starting point. It felt like a lot was crammed into this book, but there was some promise for this arc. I'm just hoping the issues that follow are a bit more streamlined.

I agree I don't want to see Batman hand his title off to anyone but Dick. When Dick was Batman it was a great story arc and nice to see him as Batman.

I agree, But If that going to happen, Dick's got to start acting like a responsible Adult, and not the jackass fool he's been since he's become Nightwing .

Wow, I don't think I've ever heard a greater insult to a great artist like Caravaggio. Lashley's work went from decent to two steps shy of Liefeld all over the issue.

Did everyone forget that Tim did pretty much all of the work except physically putting on the Batman costume in Prodigal? Dick's never been right for succeeding Bruce as Batman except in the sentimental sense, as far as I'm concerned.

I was relaxed, and I didn't even say anything about Wally or ***** about Bart in that post.

That's true, Even in OYL , Tim is much more mature than Dick ever was . So if anyone should take The Mantel of THE BAT it should be Tim .

Yeah, I obviously quoted the wrong chap.

Corp, calm down seriously, you have that heart condition.

Your heart condiiton will totally own your ass.

all those chemicals pouring on Griff.....and the explosion. I wonder if he'll somehow get powers now? Maybe be a villian?...hmmmm

But yeah...I didn't like this issue too. Not many people can write Bart right...and Geoff Johns wrote him the best...IMO. I liked him better as a teen titan. But over all...never liked that little punk impluse. lol.

I'd take any one over Bart. Jay, hell...even Jessie Quick.
