I'd take any one over Bart. Jay, hell...even Jessie Quick.
The more I think about it, the more I like the idea of Jessie Quick as the Flash. Not just "Lady Flash" or "Flash Girl" or anything, but the honest-to-God main Flash. That would've been a fun, interesting change of pace.

Guice has come a long way since then. He's doing quite well on Aquaman these days.

Always wondered why he goes by the name of 'Butch' now though - Jackson Guice has a better ring to it.

I thought they were two different artists, actually. I looked at his work on a recent JLA Classified arc, then I remembered the last name "Guice" from Flash, and I was like, "Wow, Butch Guice is so much better than Jackson Guice." About a week later I was looking up some of his art on Google and I learned they were the same guy. :o

Now I'm going to have to seek out these back issues. Know what numbers they were? I'd buy the sight unseen if it was a familar artist.

JLA Classified #10-15. The arc is called "New Maps of Hell," it's written by Warren Ellis, and I think it's already out in trade.

Also, if you didn't know already, Guice is currently penciling Aquaman: Sword of Atlantis, which is a pretty good story so far.

Finally got to read the issue, and it was really average. Im on board for the first arc at least.

I'm just glad that the concept of the Flash is still ongoing. I miss Barry, and loved Wally.....

But I hope that this new Flash will live up to those before him.

By the way...just a question....

Does the new Flash (or even the entire Flash legacy) always have to revolve around the Allens? I remember reading Chain Lightning and was surprised about how many decendants Barry and Wally has compared to poor old Jay. I hope some how, Jay can have some kind of legacy (Garrick-wise for a Flash) then relying on the entire Allen/West bloodline.

I am concerned that Flash now mirrors Nightwing and some of the new minis. You had a great deal of promise in the last scenes before OYL, which is followed by an almost complete let down, and an issue that is needlessly sexualised in the name of maturity.

I just find it boring. :(

Regwec, please explain what you mean by what is considered as a 'complete let down'. Do you refer to Wally's book before it ended or Wally's last appearance in the pages of Infinite Crisis. Also, how does Flash mirror Nightwing and some of the new minis. (what is a minis? Do you mean, mini-issue? Or the newbies that are coming out of the woodwork like the new Blue Beetle and Batwoman?

I mean some of the new mini series such as Checkmate. Along with Nightwing, they seem to have the intent of being exciting in their iconoclasm. Instead, I find them to be a frustrating subversion of the tone and pace of the characers and their adventures before the year-jump.

I dont see how anyone can put Checkmate in the same breath as Nightwing and The Flash, that book is excellent.

 Checkmate is the best title DC has going right now  The only thing that could make it better is a bit of Roy.

I don't agree, but I wasn't saying it was bad, anyway. I was linking it by theme to the other titles I mentioned, not by quality.
