Basically, action adventure with a serious side. Like Star Trek or Iron Man, fun and engaging. Cool characters, awesome battles. That's the tone I' think fits.
I could never see a Seven and Zodiac tone to The Flash.

Flash's tone should be around Iron Man's neighbourhood.

Personally, I always saw it as being somewhere along the lines of Spider-Man, at least if it's about Wally. If it's about Barry then I could see it being more Iron-Man-like in tone. Flash is supposed to be DC's FUN superhero, though. The action scenes should be fast and kinetic and feel playful in addition to dangerous. The guy is wearing a freaking red costume so I don't think there's much success to be had if you try to make him dark and gritty.

I agree with TimStuff except I think that Barry at least in personality would fit more with a Spider-Man tone

The Flash would work as a mix between Iron Man and Batman Begins. Modern and fun, but also believeable and engaging. And Barry is a very sarcastic guy. He'd be more in tone with a less-dickish Tony Stark.

And a Martian Manhunter movie set before he comes to Earth would be like a Flash movie where he is just a forensic detective. It should be a Noir mystery, with John Jones investigating a bizarre string of murders that lead to the revelation that he is not Mars' sole survivor or a The X-Files-esque movie, with J'onn fighting the government and the White Martians' conspiracy to take over the world.

I think The Flash is primed to be a break out character to mainstream audiences much akin to when Iron Man hit the scene. He has the likability, the originality, and a power(s) that if properly done will captivate audiences. The most important factor to making a quality Flash film for me is the director. Who are some of your favorites/dreams to direct the eventual film?

I think that Joseph Kosinski would be the perfect director for Flash.

Garrett Hedlund, Ryan McPartlin, or Jake Gyllenhaal for Barry Allen/The Flash.

Why would the Flash need an armored suit though? He's faster than any bullet and really shouldn't be dealing with any extra weight on his costume.

No disrespect meant but Owlboy your logic is flawed. Armor can protect from more than just bullets, like the impact of a fall perhaps, and why should The Flash have to worry about weight?
