Big 'meh' to Edgar Wright.

Robert Zemeckis
Steven Spielberg
Michael Bay (yeah... I went there!)
Ron Howard
Matthew Vaughn
Danny Boyle

These are all the directors I would love to take on a Flash movie.

No to Edgar Wright but okay to Michael Bay?

However, I do like your other choices, especially Danny Boyle. Too bad Robert Zemeckis hates us humans with his lust for motion capture CGI. He's mad, I tell you. Mad!

Yeah! It's weird isn't it? I'm a fan of Edgar Wright but judging by his movies, I just can't see him tackle The Flash. The only reason why I chose Michael Bay is because I feel like he knows how to capture movement on camera very well (which I think is important for The Flash) and he's one hell of an action director no matter how crap his story telling skills actually are. Let's face it... who doesn't wanna see Flash ram into a fruit stand?!?! Just playing hahaha.

I'm tempted to say Guy Ritchie could be a good director for The Flash.

I'm unsure, as Ritchie can be pretty hit and miss. For every Snatch or RockNRolla, there is a Swept Away or a Revolver. But what he DOES have, and it's something that I feel is essential for The Flash, is bucketloads of flashy directorial style. Making super-speed seem exciting to a moviegoing audience is going to require some funky editing techniques, some adrenaline-pumping scene composition. And Ritchie is a director who makes great use of elaborate set-ups, quick cuts and time manipulation to really create an immersive experience for the viewer, make them feel the buzz of being right there in the motion of the movie.

Take this for example:

after seeing Transformers 2, I've lost faith in Bay. With Wright, he's a certified geek and if his 'Scott Pilgrim' turns out to be great, then I think he's worthy of The Flash. Hell, he was awe

I just think we need something more than great action scenes.

Why I haven't never thought of Guy Ritchie..Good Show, old sport.

Bay would be good. Warner would only have contain his toilet humor vein (Which I like :)) and we'd have a good movie. It was so with Trasformers, one of my personal favorite.

I still don't understand why anyone would want to get Bay at this point. Transformers 2 was probably the worst movie that he has done. And EVEN LIKED THE ROCK.

And the other problem is that he looks to put his stamp onto his movies, for whatever reason. I just feel like his movies don't have that nice middle ground between being fanboy friendly and mainstream like Dark Knight or Iron Man. His movies, like or not, are catered to mainstream people and frat boys. Even with Transformers 1, I never got the impression that Bay respected the source material as much as he should.

If Bay did The Flash, it would be at the lowest common denimator, and its faithfulness would be in question.

I don't know. You're a good guy so I won't be like "Bay is the suck". Kinda hard not to say that. haha.

You can say it. I'm used to it. :hehe:

OK, I'll go down with Brad Bird. :)

I liked Bad Boys 1&2, I liked Transformers 1, but no to Bay. His frantic style of directing wont serve well with The Fastest Man Alive.

Also I dont like how he handles women in his film as basically glorified props that are just around to be hot and I dont want to see Iris or Linda in that sense

And I dont think the guy can make a serious "good film. By that I mean he doesnt make actual "good" films little to no character development, no real story, etc. he only makes entertainment films. Those are fine for TF1 and Bad Boys, but for Flash I would like the film to be entertaining as well as actually "good" like Iron Man or TIH

It's one of those things where you like a certain director or..actor, but you don't want to do something that is close to your heart. I can tell you guys right now that Michael Bay is very predictable as a filmmaker, especially now that The Island - the one movie where he tried to change his style - forced him to embrace his "Bayism".

I can tell you right now that The Flash with Bay directing might be fun, but it will be juvenile and full of ADHA cinematography. And to that, I say no.

The Island conceptually would have him change his style, but he didnt change his style. Kept going for big action, even though The Island concept could have been littered with more social relevance and philosophy, which was pretty much missing from the film.

But I agree, Bay is not good for Flash. Not that he couldnt make a good beat'em up. Just have to find him the right flick to do.

Right on again! :woot: :up::up:

I agree with everything you just said, which is a nice change of pace for me, lol. ;)

I have no problem with you're opinion in general it was just that long time that you would write these LONG a** posts basically that couldve been summed up in one sentence
But not even that. IMO you did act real smug/annoying about your opinion basically stating that everyone who likes Wally is better is wrong and there was no having a discussion about it with you and this went on in this thread and in the Flash comics thread

I mean the whole "maaaaaaaaan f*** Barry Allen" thing was a joke and it seemed like everytime someone said it you took it personally for some reason

Liking Barry Allen is fine, but if a person is going to be smug about it then it gets annoying

Its water under the bridge for me but it really took the fun out of the site and out of discussing Barry vs Wally for a while for me. And thats why I dont even like to bring it up any more.

But as I said water under the bridge for me

I don't think I ever said anyone was wrong for liking Wally. If anything, I may have said that people who wanted Wally as Flash in the first movie had the wrong idea.

If they say it over and over it gets annoying and stops being funny. Not sure how funny it is in the first place, but OK.

Ok, well, if I promise not to beat anyone over the head with my views anymore, are we cool? :)

I'm deconstructing a little, but there have always been two aspects to The Flash. Lightning aka speed and chemicals aka high concept science and thinking. At least to the adventure side. They've been augmented over the years with legacy and other aspects.

I could see someone like Bay getting the "lightning" aspect, but missing on the other aspects.
