^ Agreed about the Rogues' part. Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths' portrayal of the Crime Syndicate is actually kinda like I see the Rogues. They're a superpowered mob. I love their interactions with eachother and their code (Killing in only acceptable if it's for survival or revenge; Drugs are not allowed; Women and children are off limits and etc.). It's a very different and interesting portrayal of a supervillain.

I also like how Barry (originally) became a superhero just because it was the right thing to do, not because his family was murdered. That's how I'd like to see it in a movie. If Zoom is introduced in one of the eventual sequels, Barry's mother's murder and his father's arrest as the prime suspect could be adressed and actually make for some heart-wrenching drama.

But in Crisis on Two Earths only Owlman and Superwoman got any sort of characterization, Ultra man was just an annoying mafia stereotype and the other two were non entities.

The problem with a group of villains, is you have to establish a Big bad, you need a main villain that provides the climax and moves the plot forward, so you can't just have the group as the Big Bad. You also have balance the group, you have find a way to give them some spot light to make them interesting, but not too much that makes the movie long and convoluted like spider-Man 3.

Also I think that time travel with Professor Zoom sounds way too convoluted to work on screen, Zoom going back to the past and murdering Flash's mom seems like the kinda thing that would create a ton time paradoxs. I would rather they go with hunter Zoloman and more straight forward story.

BTW, what should they do with Flash's suit? Personally, I like the idea of him having a bunch of suits stashed around the city so that if he needs to change, he can just run to one of his caches and put it on, because he's that friggin' fast. ;)

Whatever they do though, I don't think it can be the ring because that's just way too convoluted.

I feel the exact opposite. Having the costume on hand is a much more dramatic and direct way to change than "Danger! But first I have to speed somewhere else to get my costume."

You could do the "Speed force" explanation. Or go with the ring and say it's made out of "Palmer cloth" or something. I think either are more interesting and more fun than stashing costumes somewhere. And I think fun should be the key word. If Tony Stark is able to stash a suit of armor in a briefcase, come up with something to top it.

I've got no problem with Barry running home or going to his car for his uniform. After all, he is The Flash, it's not gonna take all day, in fact it might not even take a second.

Yeah, but it undercuts all dramatic tension if he has time to run home to change into costume. Especially for the Flash you want to get across the idea that "there's not a (split) second to spare" in a crisis to the best of your ability. Even if you have him wearing his costume under his clothes.

And, with special effects as they are, there's no reason you can't do the other explanations for costume changes.

And I also think that because transformation is an important aspect of superheroes, you should aim for something really impressive and visually striking. Like Batman and Iron Man suiting up. Or Clark Kent tearing open the shirt on his chest. Or the Hulk transforming. I'm sure they'll have something fancy whipped up for Green Lantern.

So then he could run down to his car. In the TV series there was one instance where Barry went to his trunk for his uniform.

And then you have to keep him somehow tethered to his car. Besides, how exciting is that? Suit transformation is one place where Flash can up the scale on the competition by making the sequence fun and exciting.

The series is a bad example because the special effects didn't really exist at the time, especially on a tv budget, to do a suit transformation scene.

Turned the head concept I posted on the last page into a full body design....

I would be nicer with more traditional boots. The feet have too much of a "onesy" feel to it.

nice drawing above. As for the costume. Thats a toughy for me. with flash you could do a wide variety of things like under his cloths and he spins out of his cloths to his costume, the whole its stashed at home. The ring thing would be a cool thing to try and do. with the right explaination it could work. and i like i said for superman boards. They should really try to go all out comic bookie with these films. But still have a touch of realism for other aspects to the films.

With all the Superman reboot and Batman 3 talk.. this seems to have been lost somewhere... is this movie really confirmed? I dont remember seeing an article about it on SSH frontpage. Im just treating this as "still in development hell" stage

Not "confirmed" as in greenlit, but WB is working on a screenplay based on an outline written by Geoff Johns. That's confirmed.

yea nothing is confirmed from what we know. we have known for past yr johns has been working on draft/treatment for both flash/shazam with another writer on both. plus being producer for flash. Then only new bit of news was of greg berlanti likely to be named new director for the project.

if Greg Berlanti is being considered for the Flash gig, he might have another project on his plate:
“77 Sunset Strip” was a television show that ran from 1958 until 1964 about a pair of womanizing, wisecracking L.A. detectives based on a series of novels and short stories written by Roy Huggins. It starred Efrem Zimbalist Jr. and Roger Smith. If that means nothing to you, don’t feel too bad. I’d never heard of it, either.

What I do know, however, is that Greg Berlanti, the screenwriter behind Ryan Reynolds’ forthcoming Green Lantern, is set to produce and direct the adaption.

Personally, I think maybe this is more to his liking than Flash. I could be wrong. Considered that the newcomers like Neil Bloomkamp and the dude who did Tron Legacy both had visual effects backgrounds; Marc Webb had a music video background. I don't know what Greg has to offer when it comes to sci-fi/visual effects/action/superhero stuff.

possible man, though he could do that film first and flash after. We dont even have a time table for when flash is to be released. So if they are not planning to shoot it to 2011 or 2012 he could do that other film this year or next what ever is the case and then move to flash.

I just thought I'd pass this info along: Amazon.com is selling The Flash: The Complete Series for $14.99 (plus S+H). That's a pretty great deal for a 6 DVD box set.

thats cool i picked up the set ages ago. Dont recall the price i paid for it. but i do watch it from time to time. Wouldnt mind if their flash actor had a cameo or something in the film u know.

So guys i was just thinking about flash's costume for a moment earlier. I was wondering what you guys thoughts about his chest symbol/logo. Would u like the back circle be bigger then the bolt like it is in cartoons/comics or a smaller circle like the 90s live action tv show had it:

Comics:

90s live action show:

I'd like a newer version of the comics suit, like that other Captain America drawing edit above.

With my symbol design, of course. :P
