Why? Just say there was a guy calling himself the Flash in the 40s, then Barry then Wally. Legacy is a huge part of the Flash mythos we shouldn't throw that out because some people might get "confused".

That could work..hmmmmmmmm

I still say that the main character should be Wally West, with Barry Allen being a mentor, etc., etc. and then dying within the first half hour or so. Kind of like a Batman Begins type thing. Show Barry dying eary on in the film and then (through the eyes of Wally) pepper in flashbacks to Barry training him and... well, you know. IMHO Barry is not developed or current enough to make it as the main character of a movie.

While I like to see that, it ain't happening. I've said it before: DC didn't bring back Barry for Sheets and giggles.

The LEGACY is a big part of what makes The Flash so special, IMO.

I have to ask, why do you continually post insisting to start with Barry while at the same time always saying that you have little knowledge of the characters?

Why not actually read all their runs and then decide which character the movie should be about. In the time you have been following the flim's development surely you could have read enough of all the characters to make an opinion more based on the characters and their storylines.

This post is not meant to be "flame bait", I' am seriously curious as to why.

Ok, because I haven't done so in awhile, here is some Flash casting ideas of mine:

Wally West: Ryan Eggold - Yes, this is the English teacher from 90210. But don't judge a book by it's cover, or in this case, the actor for which show he appears on. This guy has talent and I see tons of potential in him. Eggold is 24, has the build for Wally, has a good guy vibe to him, can do the Wally humor along with the proper range to make you believe in him as a hero.

Barry Allen: Peter Krause

Jay Garrick: Michael Biehn

Linda Park: Linda Park

Iris Allen: Moira Kelly
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0446702/

Tina McGee: Amy Acker

Reverse Flash: Christian Camargo - I personally believe that the best thing to do with the Reverse Flash is combine all three, The Rival, Eobard Thawne, and Hunter Zolomon. OR you could combine The Rival and Hunter Zolomon, while saving Thawne for later down the line. In that case, I want JAMES FRAIN to play Thawne.

Jesse Quick: Scout Taylor-Compton

Max Mercury: Still working on this one.....

yea the legacy is a very cool thing for the flash. But really we should see it build up over the course of a film series then just shoehorning it into first film and all that. All the characters should have their shot to be developed to their full potential and all that. That is why i do want to start with barry, have wally be a key supporting character. Plus like if they make barry be like 27-29 yrs old i would make wally late teen 17-19 yrs old so then we jump over kid flash stuff a bit but development his character so then he can easily just be the flash later on. Then some how i dont know which way myself to include jay too.

Flash facts, yes i know i keep saying barry and all that. Yes i havent read flash at all. so i have basic knowledge of the characters from what i read up about said characters online and all that. To me i just think it is easier to start with barry, and go from there.

Its not shoehorning. You introduce one of the current Flashes and then you get them to talking about Jay being the Flash in the 40s nothing more needs to be done. Its not like we're gonna have the story jump back and forth between time periods or something.

IN his defense: It's easy to tell someone to "read all their runs" but their could be factors that make it so the person cannot read them. Money, Time, or he/she just doesnt want to.
But I think one should at least read Wikipedia articles

I like some of these. I'm not really sure about your Wally choice. I haven't seen his work but he just doesnt remind me of Wally by looking at him

My version
Wally West= Scott Porter http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2187603/
Linda Park= Stephanie Jacobsen http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1089338/
Barry Allen= Barry Krause http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0470244/
Iris Allen= Mary Louise Parker http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000571/
Jay Garrick= Gary Cole http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0170550/
Zoom= Josh Hartnett
Professor Zoom= idk maybe Barry Pepper

I might be biased here, but I think my Eggold choice is one of those off the wall casting choices that are hit or miss. Sometimes it works out for the best, ala Ledger/Joker, and other times it fails miserably. I think this would work, obviously lol.

So, I'm curious. Which choices did you like?

I rather they save "Jay" for the a possible 3rd movie.
Call it "The Flash of Two Worlds". Just like the classic comic book story but expand it.

Busted out my Flash: Born to Run comics earlier.

Why is Mark Waid not on this and Geoff Johns is?

Not bad. I hadn't considered Stephanie Jacobsen as Linda before, but she'd probably be good. I suppose I overlooked her largely because I was pissed at her character on Terminator for trying to kill Cameron, lol.

Anyway, here are a couple other potential Lindas:

Grace Park (she's in her 30's though, so I'm not sure if the studio would be enthusiastic about her)

Even if it is Wally will probably be in it, and you can set up his future love interest with Linda Park.

well we have no clue who else would be invovled with flash if it does get moving into production stage beyond geoff. maybe some other dc guys will be involved.

Another idea for Linda Park is Liza Lapira
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0487594/

Not technically Korean, but could pass.

And another casting idea I have for Wally West is Ryan Merriman, who I might also want to see screentest for Superman.
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0581365/

And ANOTHER Wally West casting choice I have come across, after watching Pacific and some Justified, is Jacob Pitts. I always knew the guy could do some great comedy, but he has really flashed(no pun intended) some great range in Pacific, Justified, and I really enjoyed his movie The Novice, which he was in with Amy Acker.

Thank you.

And while I'm here, I won't to share something. As much as I complain about Geoff Johns and Rebirth, it has given me an idea for what should be either the final film in a Flash franchise or close to it.

Keeping in mind that I want Wally as the Flash and that my Flash ideas are elseworlds material thats drawn from all the comic material(like Rebirth) that I take and mold into my own, I would eventually bring back Barry Allen and use the Black Flash. But here, the Black Flash would be Barry Allen. The black Flash would represent the evil part of the speedforce, death itself and would bind with Allen and bring him to back to life. It would be Barry Allen, but on autopilot and being influenced by the Black Flash. It would be like, if Barry Allen were evil, this is how he would be, and because death has him, he is evil. This would set up a great Wally/Evil Barry battle and put the icing on the cake of Wally letting go of Barry and his shadow once and for all while laying Allen to rest in the process.

I like that idea. Like, Wally vs. Zombie Barry. And then after Wally defeats Black Flash, Barry' is released and his soul can finally rest in peace (rather than returning to the world of the living where he takes over Wally's monthly series :cwink:).

:yay::yay::yay::yay:

You see what I'm getting at. And that is how Rebirth should end, with Wally still as the Flash.

man, so are you gonna be unhappy with Barry as Flash till the end of time? are you that absolute about it?
