I'm a Hal and wally guy as well. but I'm open to being more of a Barry guy if this film convinces me.

As far as I'm concerned, Barry should've stayed dead (though I like him) and Kilowog is the only GL Corpsman that matters.

I dont see Aaron working as Barry.But he is a good actor, maybe with red hair he can convence me.

And i undestand the fer to seea edge-dark-violent Flashmovie, but i guess is a over-the-top reaction. Barry works with crime, what is a heavy scenario, but i believe the fun and funny moments will be present too. But is soon to really know about what been done with the script.

Yeah, I think Greg's comments are so early in the game since the script is still being written but it won't go that dark. AT least, if it's not appropriate for The Flash or his universe.

Of course, Geoff Johns will have a lot of say on the direction of the script. That being said, maybe The Flash will have a darker edge than Green Lantern (which is kinda weird) but like what some have said, The Flash will be The Flash.

If you take away the serial killer aspect, the ideal portrayal of Barry Allen is Michael C. Hall's Dexter (who has the same job, or at least in the same field). Funny, meek, smart, people like him, but still competent.

But I'll definitely be open to the likes of Wally for a sequel then let Barry's trilogy end and then start a new era with Wally. As for Kyle, Guy and John they'll all get their time in the sun/cosmos. Let's just see where the first GL (and it's sequel) takes us!

I'd love to see some flashback moments with Jay and Alan too.

to me it would be similar if they brought back gwen and established her as peter parker's number one girl in the movie. sure, there was a time when she (gwen stacy) WAS the number one girl of pete but she's been dead for decades and in that time people have grown up with MJ as peter's wife.

And about Mask of Zorro, the original Zorro already had quite a few movies. Here we'd be watching our main character spend a movie trying to live up to a guy we never got to know.

I think the only way we would have seen wally is if they had gone through with the Justice League movie and killed barry allen in it. Barry Allen has to many ingredients to his character that I can't see a movie executive not going for him over wally. Just in terms of occupation alone CSI over, what was wally last, a mechanic.

There was no argument. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle brought back Sherlock Holmes from the dead, Ian Fleming brought back James Bond from the dead.

Wally's being Flash would never happen without Barry. You don't do the sidekick movie before the real hero.

Barry exists independently from Jay though. He may have been inspired by Garrick, but they're not tied together as Wally is to Barry.

Barry works as the CSI turned Superhero. Wally works as the full-time professional superhero, which only works if he is the sidekick striving to live up to (and eventually exceed) his predecessor and mentor.

I think the best characterization of Barry in DC right now has to be Wednesday Comics (read it!) and J. Michael Straczynski's story in Brave & the Bold, along with Geoff Johns' current run on The Flash.

I really like the New Flash series, I recommend people to read it. But I do think 'Flash Rebirth' stumbled while the series itself is pretty good. Pulpy good.

I would accept Wally being the Flash right off the bat, but being a knowledgeable comic book fan, it would just feel weird without Barry starting it all off.

It depends on what DC is gonna do, because the long haul. Once it's on film, it's gonna represent the character to the masses and will be used as a 'gateway' to the comics.

That being said, right now, Wally is sidelined. IF Flash Rebirth was done as well as 'Green Lantern Rebirth' then I think the resistance would be toned down by the Wally fans. Instead, it left a stigma and probably did affect the new Flash series. Despite being a hit, I think some people are just so turned off by it that it's a shame.

But we'll see. Barry's series just started and you will have to wait a couple of years where Johns gonna take the character. IF it doesn't work out, then anything's possible. If it is a success, DC needs to stuck to their guns, and just keep Barry.

So my point is this: They won't use Wally as the main Flash from the get-go if he isn't going to be marketed as the MAIN Flash in the comics. That's it, currently. Now with the sequel, that could be different.
