That was so cool that Gambit got to lead an X-team. I never thought they'd let him do that.
Gambit wasnt really leader of the X-men. He led them on one mission and it was bc it was his battle and they decided to tag along and help him bc he needed it. In that sense many other X-men have led much in the same way like Psylocke, Jean,Beast, etc...without being "the" X-men leader like Storm and Cyclops

Yeah, it was more a case of him calling in some favors and Storm backing him than actual leadership on his part.

Marvel really hyped Claremonts run with Gambit and Rogue being the new leaders but it pretty much amounted to nothing on both fronts. It was all a stunt and Storm and Cylops reclaimed their roles quickly with Rogue and Gambit's stints as "leaders" quickly forgotten

Gambit's stint anyway. It doesn't bother me that much though, Gambit isn't the leading kind IMO. Despite any ability he may have for the job, his secretiveness, independent nature, untrustworthiness, and how he wouldn't want to be responsible for the lives of others would keep him from puling it off; the team wouldn't trust him, he'd frequently end up doing his own thing leaving the team on it's own and he wouldn't be able to do very well with the possible deaths of his team hanging over him.

Yeah, well, at that point, they just needed *something* to hype us CC's run.

As it should. Rogue's way too unstable and Remy wouldn't actually LIKE it.

I'm still wondering what they were thinking when they came up with that idea.

"Lets take two X-men who are *least* suitable for the job, and have them lead teams!"

I thought it was a cool idea. I found out about that time way after it happened. I know Gambit wasn't really a full X-leader, and no he shouldn't be a leader. He takes too many risks and he wouldn't want to be responsible for anyone's death. He's too much of a danger to himself and he knows it. But come on, Rogue has every right to be a leader. She can be reasonable and she doesn't give up on anyone. She only abandoned Remy in Antarctica because she had absorbed his self hate. No one else cared enough to go back for him like she did. I guess I'm one of the few that thinks she's a great leader.

Bull****.

She only abandoned Remy in Antarctica because she had absorbed his self hate.

Also bull****.

1: Gambit called her on it and said straight out that that story was bunk.

2: If Rogue can't control herself better than that, it's still her fault and more proof that she shouldn't be leading. I always find it funny how Rogue fans go on and on about how tough and strong Rogue is, but always fall back on the "he *made* her do it" excuse for Antarctica.

No one else cared enough to go back for him like she did.

Bull**** also. She was going on picnics, flirting with Joseph, and whining about how bad it is to not be able to touch anyone again after having a brief respite from her "curse", not looking for him (seriously, she can fly at supersonic speeds and Gambit was crawling on his hands and knee. If she had actually looked, she'd have been able to find him before he had gone too far). In fact, she actually consulted a physician about getting her powers taken away because she wanted to be able to touch people even more.

I guess I'm one of the few that thinks she's a great leader.

If you'd take an unbiased look at the character, you'd think differently.

God damnit.

Our whole point is that NOBODY with such a temper should be a leader.

Even if it was Gambit's long lost twin brother, Can would advise against it.

And as I said before, NOT being leader material isn't a goddamn flaw. Geez.

Didn't you hear? Everyone has to be a leader now, otherwise it's not fair. Civils rights or something. :woot:

Why does everyone have to be so damn blind to their favorite characters? I'm arguing with a Storm-fan on another board. He refuses to acknowledge that Storm's a Mary-Sue or that the fact she's a double minority (black and a woman) had a part to play in making her famous. Seriously, do you think any one would care if there was a white male "uber" person running around?

Also, the CBR board is a terrible place to hang out and discuss comics.

CanCan, who died and made you the comic god? I know very well the flaws of both Gambit and Rogue. I obviously can't say anthing without you jumping all over me, so I'm not going to try. And I don't appreciate you using curse words and how you automatically have to tell everyone how wrong they are. We don't even know each other. I feel really disrespected.:cmad: People, if I think Rogue is a good leader, then I am entitled to my opinion. And no one has any right to tell anyone their opinion is wrong, especially not about something as trivial as comic books. I actually research these things, despite what you might think. I just want to have fun. No more flaming.

And I did not say Gambit made her abandon him. That was not his fault at all.

Emmy, you mustn't take all this personally. Where doing exactly what people are *supposed* to be doing in a discussion thread; debating the various opinions and points of view that turn up in the thread.

And I curse all the time, it's nothing to take personally. I really have nothing against you.

CAn's point is that you make it a point to see it in the BEST POSSIBLE LIGHT. AKA for every tantrum she throws, she has a good excuse. Same for that B.S. with leaving leaving Remy in bloody Arctantica.

That's the equivalent of Can not aknowledging that Remy most certainly can be refered to as a part-time untrustworthy wretch. That would be like me defending to the death that Cyke dumping Maddie wasn't an a$$hole move.

Once again, all we're saying is one SHOULD take the good with the bad. Half-heartedly aknowledging said bad and locking it away does NOT count. :whatever:

Not quite pleased at how far in the background Cyke and Hank (Dear GOD, Blue is behind MYSTIQUE'S FOREARM!!!????) but, yeah, Remy hasn't looked that good in ages. If just for the pose.

Bachalo, the one who did the left part, tends to play favorites in his pencils. Had he done the one on the right, Gambit would've been in the back and probably looking dumb as hell.

I am just glad Gambit looks decent. Bachalo doesn't always draw him very well.... :D

Oh wait.. Bachalo only did the left side? Who did the right? Ramos? They have a very similar style.

Eh, there's nothing wrong with the pose itself, but his arms seem far, far too long to be human.
