Yeah, I agree. And not only did he not want to kill Cable, I suspect that he was deliberately trying not to kill Cable. And then there's the little hint he gave Cable, so it's not like he'd give him the hint and then say "Well, hey, if Sunfire offs him, I guess we off him."

But then, I like the idea of Gambit being the "bluffer" and/or "manipulator," or whatever.

Yeah, I feel like during MC we're going to get the whole scenario where the X-Men are getting ready to finish off Gambit... and suddenly Cable shows up, alive and well, with the answer to some problem or another.

Here's something else from Carey, and I'm guessing this involves the aforementioned mini.

Nathan - the Guild don't make a showing in Messiah Complex, but I'm planning to write a follow-up to that Quiet Bill scene elsewhere

I hope so because that scene didn't make a whole lot of sense to me.

Whats confusing about it? bill was being hunted by the Marauders so he called the guilds for protection, but got offed by Riptide before someone in charge got his message. From the sounds of it, Mike wants to write a scene(or more) wherein they get his message and start asking questions given Gambit's involvement (and possibly addressing that whole "New Orleans destroyed by Katrina" Marvel completely ignored).

gambit's crappy gas powers started katrina.. that's how they're addressing it.

Its not been ignored in some books. The THOR #3 previews show Thor in NO with it being a mess, and he's not happy about it.

But yeah, they've ignored it when concerning someone who's actually from NO.

Well, there was also that comic(I forget the name) done by Hudlin where a bunch of black superheroes go down to NO and fight racist white vampires who are killing a bunch of innocent black hurricane victims(I think Blade even called one a cracker).

.....Yeah.

I don't know if there are any other words to describe that... except maybe Wow.

Question: exactly how many caucasian folks are allowed to NOT be crackers in a Hudlin book? :wow:

Oh, and about Gambit's involvement with Katrina. Please, we all know Cyke is gonna blame Rogue in #204. So there.

It's most OBVIOUSLY gonna be answered with the solution that Remy had a thing with a chick named Katrina, broke her heart and she returned the favor by f***ing s*** up.

Eminem?

You mean Storm? you're right, she probably sent that hurricane cause he didn't come to her wedding(too busy getting his stupid ass raped by Pooky's machines)

nah. Eminem gets no pass from Hudlin....the only African Americans that like him are..50 Cent (because he owes him EVERYTHING...and pays for it royally) and D-12

and Storm would never do anything like that to inadvertently cause the deaths of thousands of innocents (some of which are still missing, thank the alligators for that) Now Jean Grey....SHE would do something like katrina

Somehow I doubt posers would get a free pass from Hudlin. K-Fed soooo needs to co-star in a Hudlin book. Now *that* would be hilarious.

Wait, you didn't think they were actually serious? :woot:

Come on, even Storm haters wouldn't go that far. Throwing hissy fits and summoning storms while trying make a point? Sure.

Homicidal rage on that big a scale? Nah.

Oh, and just to steer things back on topic... Well, sort of.

I think it was Can (?) who thought Gambit was chastizing his teammates in those MC preview pages.

I'd have to say that *at best* he'd say something about it not being necessary. He wasn't exactly going EMO in the baddies' lair.

Wasn't me. I was the one hoping he racks up a body count in the double digits.

Yeah, cause we all know that Gambit is the Rambo of the Marvel universe.

He used to be.

Gladiator, Wolverine, a ship full of war-skrulls, the Acolytes, and ShadowKing. He trumped them all in his first two years using mostly guile and fair bit of ruthlessness and was second only to Logan in popularity because of it.

It was a damn sight better than being first a caricature of "kewl" 90's characters when Claremont left, then a pathetic boyband pin-up for most of the 00's.

Everybody was kicking everybody else's ass in the 90's. What makes a superhero survive is his personality (unless that superhero is Superman). It's Gambit's carefree, charming and occasionally ruthless personality that has attracted so many fans. Not saying he doesn't look good while kicking ass, but in all honesty I'd rather have one sincere GOOD moment of character development instead of a whole issue of kicking ass and taking names.

I'm still thinking they're going to have Gambit play the "I only helped Sinister because it helped mutants" card at somepoint in time... So it wouldn't really seem right for him to go off and start killing folks. Remember, he didn't actually want to off Cable.

And helping Sinister probably helps Gambit achieve his own goal. And we all know he has his own goal.

One can only hope. I don't like the idea of him just being somebody's puppet. :(

I only used examples done by Claremont, who wasn't part of the badness of the 90's. Those wins were all legit and not gimmicky like that sort of thing became later on.

No two people can agree on exactly what Gambit's personality is. One minute he's a wreckless idiot, the next he's a shrewd gambler, the next he's emo-boy, and the next he's a jokester. You have to actually have a consistent personality before you can credit it with a character's success.

Not saying he doesn't look good while kicking ass, but in all honesty I'd rather have one sincere GOOD moment of character development instead of a whole issue of kicking ass and taking names.

It's been fairly well established that Gambit simply doesn't do character development, despite all the opportunities he's had.

Sinister knows Gambit, he could suspect that Gambit will turn rogue. But then again, Gambit is like the ultimate spy. He should have no trouble getting Sinister to trust him. Or Sinister knows that Gambit will turn rogue but it helps him in a way that Gambit doesn't know of.
