Heh. I can just see Sinister acting all dramatically surprised, with the Marauders snickering and shaking their heads at him from behind.

....There needs to be a Marauder mini-series.

True.

I can't wait to see the debate between Mystique and Sinister when Gambit jumps sides. Should be epic.

No problem. Can't wait to see it colored. :)

i havent been around for a while so is gambit gonna be in anything other than adjectiveless and the one shot?

Course not. None of the other writers want anything to do with him.:oldrazz: :oldrazz: :woot: :oldrazz: :oldrazz: :woot: :woot:

Still, I wouldn't count on seeing Gambit in any book besides Adjectiveless. X-Factor and New X-men are focusing on their own corners of the crossover and Bru despises Gambit enough to brag about how much he hates the character in interviews, so I doubt he'll write him into Uncanny unless forced to at gunpoint.

same thing was said in ultimate marvel, but he showed up anyway.
still kinda sad about gambit not being a 'true' bad guy. but whatever. its gonna be interesting to see how he makes the transition back to the x-men.

You mean Millar? He didn't write Gambit in. Chuck Austen wrote issues 13-15 as a fill-in writer. Millar just ignored Gambit. So did Bendis. I *wish* Vaughan and Kirkman had ignored him.

Could someone with the issue please clarify? What happens?

Well, Gambit does appear in the one-shot written by Bru.

Seriously, I got this vibe from the interviews that if there's a narrative purpose to ANYONE doing something, they'll appear in whatever despite of any of the x-authors' preferences...

I don't, and have never, understood the writer's seeming hate for Gambit. What is it about him that they can't stand?

I don't get it, either, if it's true;I mean, I always considered him a wonderful character to write,so many facets to his personality, you never know what he might do next and he has the charming, hot rogue thing going on;he's a cool and very interesting character to write, I think!

Better yet because he's cool. Most comic book writers were probably bullied by somebody like Gambit during their school years. Which is sorta ironic, because in issue 10 or something from Gambit's last solo series, it was revealed that Remy was the biggest nerd, complete with braces and acnee. :)

I always got the implication that there were three main reasons that a writer (or X-Fan) would hate Gambit.

1. He's from the 1990's, and thus catches a lot of flak for that. You'll notice that a lot of the current X-Writers seem to favor the "older" characters.

2. He's basically been neutered for almost a decade.

3. They just don't like the "aura" or attitude that Gambit (even old school Gambit) represented.

Psssht, that's just silly.

It's the thing with the NEW New X-Men. They were only "created" in the past 5 (or less) years so most fans don't like them and won't give them a chance. The problem with that is that often people get tired of reading about the same characters going through the same problems and never evolving past their origins.

Of course, many older fans only want the same characters facing the same problems and thus any hint of advancement of a character makes them projectile vomit and write letters to the publisher.

No wonder X-Men: First Class is doing so damn well. All the old people are buying that while younger readers such as myself are trying to give new series/characters a chance and having to watch as again and again the "old school" corrupts the "new".

Well that's one of the few things that drive me nuts about comics... So many people just won't accept change. I mean, these characters have been around for decades and have aged maybe a handful of years? I mean, they're still having the squabbles they had in the 1970s! Can we please try to move on a bit?

Though I'll admit that the writers who didn't like the 90's don't stand alone... A lot of it was crap, especially in the world of the X-Men.

I'd also add;

4: Since all his panel time is consumed by Romy, he never developed, as a character, beyond harlequin romance cliches.
