I just got a call from Dan Ackroyd saying that my local Gamestop will be open tomorrow at 10pm for the midnight release of Ghostbusters the game.

Anyone else get that call?

From the Dan Ackroyd? I know you mean a recording (well, I assume), but that's awesome. Though I did not get that call, and I know my local GS isn't doing a midnight release unfortunately

The guy at my GS said that the only time they did a midnight release was when the main office sanctioned that all stores had to do it for huge releases (Halo, MGS4, Smash Bros.) and anytime otherwise the store itself had to submit an individual inquiry to do one

Yea most stores are given the go, to do midnight releases once they reach a certain number of pre-orders. I dont think mine is doing one, but i didnt ask the last time i was up there.

I have more of an interest in getting the Wii version, partly because it's the RGB style, and using the Wiimote in the vein of an actual proton pack appeals more to me than just using dual sticks and triggers.

Yea thats one thing i think could be really cool, using the Wiimote to wrangle ghosts, however I'm almost sure its not as fun as I'm picturing in my head, even with the neutrana wand attachment. However even if it was as fun as I'm thinking, there is no way id go Wii over PS3/360. I think the 'photo realistic' visuals will keep you in the experience far more than the Wii ever could, regardless of the controls. If I'm supposed to be a new recruit to the team, i want to interact with the guys that actually look like their real life counterparts. I want to play Ghostbusters III, not Ghostbusters III: The Saturday Morning Cartoon.

It's not really done in the RGB style, like, at all.

I COMPLETELY agree. I loved the Real Ghostbusters, but when it comes to comparison with the live action films and that cast, there is no comparison. You and me both bro. I'm reaching deep into my collection trying to find anything to play to take my mind off this. Thank God this game is dropping Tuesday. I plan on watching both films tomorrow to help kill some of the day. The home stretch is finally here. Cant wait!

I don't really think so. I mean the story is the same, the voices would be there, it would be just be the cartoon character models, which are different yes, but there not so removed you wouldn't know who they are. I mean RGB was a continuation of the first movie continuity-wise until GBII and I think they even reworked it later to still be that. Otherwise, I think it's just a personal preference thing

Ironically, I think you might actually be able to make that point about the actual Wii version though. Those characters are pretty warped

I called GameCrazy (that's where I have the Wii version pre-ordered at) and according to the guy I spoke with they already have all their orders for all versions (except the PC version...) in store right now, they just can't sell them until the 16th. So, I'm pretty sure that the 16th is definitely the street date.

Yeah, I don't know, but at least as far as GameCrazy goes they will have them the 16th. I'll call ahead of time on Tuesday to my GS to make sure they will too, since it's a hour to hour and a half long drive, and if they say they won't get them, I'll probably wait and drive out the next day. It'll suck, but I don't want to take two trips, especially when the first one's spoils will just be the Wii version and the StayPuff figure
