The Official Gran Turismo Thread

Does anyone know the name of the song from the latest trailer!?

I think it is a custom mix by Sony. Perhaps from Daishi Kaiko. He has done a lot of stuff for GT. Let us know if you find out.

Nice I just pre-ordered the collectors edition at Gamestop. I'm set to go. Might get a new wheel when it comes out as well.

His a part of an interview with Shuhei Yoshida, the president of SCE Worldwide Studios. This is the first first someone has confirmed these details.
What can we look forward to when Gran Turismo 5 releases on PlayStation 3?
Gran Turismo 5 will offer gamers an experience more rich, more in-depth and more exciting than they might expect - even from a series as closely identified with innovation and invention as Gran Turismo. Not only will Gran Turismo 5 deliver an even more comprehensive set of cars and courses than gamers saw with previous iterations, it will also feature new game-enhacing graphical effects such as damage, night racing and weather.
These innovations are twinned with the option to join millions of like-minded individuals globally within the Gran Turismo community and to find a driving experience to suit, whether that is taking on the Top Gear test track, chucking cars around stunt arenas, go-karting, creating and sharing your own track or intense head-to-head races. Who, where and what to drive is completely down to the individual.

Is this freaking thing out yet? seems like i have been waiting decades!

November 2nd my friend. It is going to be amazing.

This game, and MGS4 are just two of the reasons I am saving up for a PS3

Excluse cars from Gamestop and Amazon:

GameStop exclusive: McLaren F1 & GameStop #20 NASCAR

GT5 McLaren F1--article_image.jpg

According to GameStop's site, this "Stealth" McLaren F1 will be “Custom tuned for improved performance, including weight reduction, and increased power. Also features custom carbon fiber “Stealth” paint scheme with Gran Turismo racing logos.” The site doesn't specify if the DLC will put the car directly in your garage or if it will just be unlocked and then purchased with in-game credits. The idea of rolling up alongside Ford Fiestas and Honda Fits at the Sunday Cup in an F1 is appealing though.
GT5 NASCAR--article_image.jpg

GameStop's pre-order DLC also includes their #20 NASCAR, a Toyota Camry. If you're into NASCAR, or would like 2 free cars, then your choice between Amazon and Gamestop is a no-brainer. For everyone else though, we'll focus on the McLaren and the Mercedes.

Amazon exclusive: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Stealth Model

GT5 SLS--article_image.jpg

While it’s not clear whether this SLS AMG is the standard edition or the upcoming 2013 SLS AMG Black Series, the car will likely have the same modifications mentioned in Gamestop’s description of their McLaren F1.

Course Maker confirmed!!!

What have Polyphony Digital been up to for the past five or so years? Quite a lot actually. Aswell as building the prettiest racing game ever made, Gran Turismo 5, they’ve also been packing the title with features. Producer Kazunori Yamauchi’s blown the lid of some of the goods at a GamesCom conference today. The biggest addition is the Course Maker, which will bring the number of tracks available in GT5 up to well… infinity.
It’s worth noting first of all that the Course Maker will not be a complete track editor. Producer Kazunori Yamauchi notes it would “really require a complete CG tool, which would limit the number of users who could use it”. The funniest part about that statement is it sounds like they considered it.
The Course Maker instead will allow players to create custom race-tracks based on set parameters. Players will be able to select a theme (Toscany and Belgian High were revealed), choose the number of sections and course-type (point-to-point or loop), select the weather (yes, weather!), time of day and length.
Once the parameters are in place, you’ll be able to edit your course section by section. You’ll be able to create curves, set the course width, define corner sharpness, create bank angles and much more. Presumably players will be able to share their creations online.
In addition to the track creator, Yamauchi also confirmed that Gran Turismo 5 will be getting kart racing. Apparently the feature was planned for Gran Turismo 6, but when details were leaked Yamauchi decided to include it early.

Guten Tag Gran Turismo fans! We’re coming to you semi-live and sort-of on-location from ze lovely German city of Cologne, site of this year’s gamescom, with a quick update on the latest news on Gran Turismo 5 and some of the features we’ll have ready for you come November 2nd. Below are some brief notes on these features, but for a more detailed break down, brand new screenshots and some cool historical bits, visit the official Gran Turismo website.

Single Player Career Modes: A-Spec and B-Spec
In A-Spec, you are the driver and it will be your driving skills that decide where you stand on the grid.
B-Spec, you are the Team Director, and your job is to study the competition and properly play to your driver’s strengths to come out on top. Winning will be a team effort, with every race a chance to improve your driver’s technique and help him develop into a top-tier driver. This is a brand new style of racing.

Garage: A Virtual Rolodex for Your Rides
Gran Turismo 5 gives you the chance to own over 1000 hyper-detailed cars, and the Garage section will be their home, complete with numerous easy-to-use categorizing tools that would make Melvil Dewey rethink his system.

Your personal collection will come from a couple of different areas, two of the main ones being Dealers (for new cars) or Used Car Dealers. But regardless of where you purchased, every car will be more than welcome to enter the Tuning Shop for body and suspension kits, exhaust systems and more performance parts than you can shake a stick at.
My Lounge: Virtual Track Days, Anytime, Anywhere.
Gran Turismo 5’s new revamped online system takes the essence of spending a day at the track and recreates the same level of excitement and competition in your game room (minus the smell of burnt rubber and bald tires).

Course Maker: Unleash your Inner-Architect
Be inspired by Gran Turismo’s 70 track variations to generate a super-hybrid course or come up with a dream course the likes that no one has ever seen before …

Kart Racing: A Pro-Driver’s Training Wheels
A large majority of real-life professional drivers had their start on karts, as they are a perfect way for first time drivers to learn racing theory and seasoned pros to hone their skills … and the same goes for Gran Turismo drivers. Gran Turismo’s Kart racing mode gives you a chance to experience this kind of training (virtually of course ) … click here for a preview of what is in store for you.
The items above are brief blips on a much more robust breakdown (complete with screenshots) available on the official Gran Turismo website.

Thx alot man

YUM YUM YUM!!! cant wait to get this, normally wait for games to reduce in price before i buy them, but im jumping right into this

Once this game has trolley in the super market racing I'm in.

IMO, GT will be the biggest disappointment this year.
I´m not saying it will be bad nor that is not going to sell, but i don´t believe that it will sell as well as people are expecting it to.
It´s a driving game, and driving games are not what they used to be.
Nothing sells more than shooters at this day and age.

I expect it to sell 5 million units, the most.
If it sells as well as the previous ones (10 million +), my respect for gamers drops, as there are a lot of great driving games out there that don´t sell all that well.

But, yeah, it will be a great game i´m sure

You are comparing apples to oranges. Shooters sell well in the US, look up the numbers and see for yourself. The GT series is more popular in EMEAA/JP than the US, again look up the numbers and see for yourself. There are more PS3's outside of the US (about 15mil vs 22mil), therefore I think it will sell very well. I say 9-10 million lifetime is very possible.
