And they let him go with it!? WTF!? That's like impeaching the president, but let him keep control of the nuclear button.

Or is this part of like the "prophecy" or something? Did they secretly WANT him to give and rise from the ashes, or did they genuinely think he sucked?

Really? I can't think of anyone he's worked with that's been cast already. Correct me if I'm wrong.

And I'm sure Nolan is involved in casting. He is the producer. But on the other hand, The Dark Knight Rises is officially shooting. I doubt he has the time to be deeply involved at this point.

And remember Michael Shannon's story? He mentioned Zakk Synder being there for his audition. I don't remember Nolan getting mentioned. He's the director and WB loves him. I'm sure he's plenty involved in who gets to be in the movie.

Zack is definitely present for all the auditions, but IMO Nolan brought these names to the table and the studio especially seems more keen on listening to Nolan on this.

I think Zack is responsible for bringing Joe Manganiello and Matthew Goode to the finalist pool for Superman, but Cavill was supposedly a favorite of Nolan (considered by never asked to audition for Batman).

He expressed interest in AA too. Zack usually doesn't go for names THIS big in his movies. He had some great lesser known fan favorites in the Watchmen cast, but no one in the Oscar calibur echlon.

There's definitely a clearcut Nolan influence here. I seriously doubt Russell Crowe would have agreed to do a supporting role in this for the first time in a decade if Chris Nolan wasn't involved.

Unless he really enjoyed Sucker Punch... :P

The only one who thought he sucked was Sinestro, his the only one whose opinion we got out of the laterns in regards to Hal.

You know what I'd love. If at some point in the movie some aliens go:
"Are all earthlings such a-holes?"
"He's not just any earthling. He's American."

Mwahahahaha! :p :whatever:

then why even say it
i meant its somtehign that studios and directors will never admit. so the only way to get info is from movie sites that report rumors . if the site has a good tracking record there is a big chance that its true.

thats what i meant. its impossible to give you proof on this because its impossible for anyone from production to confirm.

To be fair though, Synder's never had the opportunity to work on a project with enough clout or a big enough budget to get such huge stars. For what they were, Synder's done mostly movies that were modestly budgeted (relatively speaking of course). Getting huge names just hasn't been on the table for him until recently.

This would've been a whole lot better had they decided to base the whole plot on Emerald Dawn... -__-

What's the ending?Does he gain full support of the GL Corps and he decides to remain a hero or what???

It's a little bit of both. Zack has never worked on a project this mainstream and large so it may attract big names, and then you have Nolan.

The guy who makes people sing!? Aw man, I liked that guy. But he's a horrible movie critic going by this review. "The green should remain unseen"?
Sheesh.

Peter Travers is awesome. Seems he hated the film so much he decided to make his review jokey.

Did anyone else spot the copy and paste scene in this movie or was it only me?

He's a quote ****e and nothing more. See how I copied his s**tty writing style?

:awesome:

i see.
Cause I was about to spout off 12 different nasty reasons Aronofsky left wolverine and they all would have been accountable free. I still see it as pointless.

It was on Hollywood Reporter and similar blogs ages ago when Snyder was first announced as the chosen director from the list that got released prior.

Many in the Superman forum would remember that; Showtime, Jamie etc

Well I don't consider that proof, but that's me.

Campbells a great director, but he was clearly hampered by a bad script and bad approach by the studio for this. He didn't have full control here.

Funny how that works to only "great directors"
looking @ you jon favreau.

Definitely Nolan casting choices for this. MoS has the advantage of having strong script writers, but a mediocre director...

The reverse Green Lantern formula.

here's the way I see it, and I won't present it as fact neither.
these actors wouldn't touch this project with a 10 foot pole based on WB's track record and their own clout(minus cavil). Nolans presence allows for this but these definitely are Snyders decisions.

All Snyder has ever done is cast amazingly. And not just names but amazingly.
Butler and Jakie E at the top of this list. Nolans casting outside of Heath is never inspired but always safe.(freeman, neeson, holmes, etc.)
but that's me.

Anyways I wish campbell had landed on a different property than GL. I have a feeling he would have done as equally bad on star trek. Campbell should have gotten the bond of the DCU whomever that may be.

I have no doubts the whole scenario involves a lot of compromise. I don't think Nolan gets a completely blank check either. He's got serious clout now, but I doubt he had final cut or anything before The Dark Knight, if he's even got it at all now. The studios just don't give away the rights to one of their most valuable properties and millions upon million of dollars and then just hope the filmmaker comes back with something good. We don't hear horror stories from Nolan and company because they're probably really freakin' good at operating in the studio system. I'll bet he and his wife are crazy shrewd business people. Same for Synder and his wife (they did get Watchmen made, a cursed property, and they got it made as period flick too. They've got to be good business people). Making a hit goes a long way, but I'm just not sure any filmmaker gets to do whatever the hell they want when you're talking about characters like Batman and Superman. There's too much at stake.
