The Official Halo thread!

Saw this earlier too. So darn awesome.

Looks like we have another contender for the Halo film helm.

Heres the YT version

Nah, the main character doesn't talk. Fillion's a side character, I think you play as him in a mission.

man... even Warcraft has a director and this film is dead... >:-(

damn that was good.

That was great. Now the movie needs to look something like that.

Hopefully that Spielburg thing works out. Because if they end up doing an adaptation of the Fall of Reach, I think the Halo movies could be incredibly awesome.

why does microsoft keep shelling out money to make halo shorts lol just make the damn movie

Studio politics i guess . Plus WB is a studio that often takes risks . SOmetime they work , sometime they don't . But if you compare that to Universal and Fox , it's very different. I can sorta understand Universal because they've had some pretty bad summers with many of their high profile movies underperforming and even flopping.

Fox on the other hand won't take any risks at all ( with the exception of Avatar) . They'll either make sure to make the most commercial version of a property ( X-men 3 , WOlverine) and/or spend so little just to ensure the ownership of the rights ( Dragonball)

Because they know that they alone can't provide the budget to develop this movie. They need to share the costs with one or more studios.
It's business.

Well said.

I've never been a HUGE Halo fan. Loved the first game, but I didn't really follow or hold much interest in the franchise beyond that and I never understood the hype for a Halo movie....until I saw the latest trailer for Halo: ODST.

I must say, that looked really good and it shows a lot of potential for a Halo movie, Halo Trilogy or even a Halo Saga. Is that trailer the work of Neil Blomkamp? Didn't Microsoft bailout of the Halo movie because of Blomkamp? If so, I bet they're kicking themselves in the ass.

I was just browsing some of the older pages.
I know that Fox and Universal backed off because the project would just be too expensive and they weren't sure that Neill Blomkamp would be able to handle such a massive project.

However i could've sworn that Peter Jackson was also asking/demanding for a pretty big share of the BO sales. Or was that just Spielberg and PJ on TIn Tin
However i think that if anyone is going to rescue this , it's going to be Spielberg. The guy has just sealed his deal with the reliance company to produce movies and they've got something like 500 million or so and another 700 million coming their way .
If he were the produce the movie , maybe with PJ and find a talented director , all they would need is a studio to handle distrubution. In that case the studios won't be so dismissive of the property because they don't have much to lose.
Look at Kick-Ass. No studio wanted to make the movie so Mtthew Vaugh funded the movie out of his own pocket. After the response it got from COMIC-CON , the distrbution rights were snagged by Lionsgate.

Huh. I was reading Nikki FInke's wesbite for HALO news. Leave to her to get the inside info on why the project fell apart

"Keith is also wrong that the budget was the reason the film fell apart. Fox didn't like sitting in the backseat of production while Universal was driving the bus. Fox waited til the second that Stacey Snider left for DreamWorks and then went out of their way to make the new team at Universal feel insecure about their decisions to the point where they backed off and said they should make Mummy 3 instead! Fox never liked partnering on this film. They tried going directly to Microsoft to get Universal bounced while they were still partners. Look who ended up with the licensing rights on non-film Halo products -- Fox! What killed the Halo film was ego on the Fox side and timidity by the new team on the Universal side. [For more, see my previous, Universal & Fox Fighting Over 'Halo' $$$.]

Not the biggest fans of the game but that commercial was pretty exciting. I would see a movie if they made one.

i nvr really understood the game that well so i dont know the story. I just played the 3rd one, is master chief an alien or something, why is he always the only one who can stop everything lol.

Uh...no **** you wouldnt "get it". You wouldnt know the story if you just skipped to the end...and the story isnt even that complicated....

If you would like to further your interest in why people want a Halo movie, read The Fall of Reach. The books are much more interesting than the game storyline to me, and when you combine them, it's a pretty amazing storyline.

Fall of Reach is my favorite story of the Halo mythos, and it could amazing if done right. A script largely based off this book is what got Speilburg interested in producing the project, and I sincerely hope that something comes of that.

Spartan soldier. Taken from his home as a child and trained to be a warrior. Enhanced combat suit makes him almost superhuman.

There's honestly not much to him in the games. He's far from developed.
