I figure it is time to give the Hawks their own topic. Just post what you like/dislike and cool pics and art work of Hawkman and or Hawkgirl.

The Johns/Morales run was amazing.I hope Hawkman returns with a solo book sometime soon. One of my favs of the DC icons.

One of the standout chapters.

Yeah I totally agree. I mean Hawkgirl is ok but she just doesn't carry the action and violence of Hawkman.

Hawkman is ****in awesome

That is all.

Hawkman is really cool, and it was a shame when they just had Kendra take over the title.

I thought one of Hawkman's villains was really neat, but I have not seen him around at all. The Spider II was his name and he was an archer that lost an eye thanks to Green Arrow. The HeadHunter was an interesting character that made Hawkman question his true nature, if he really is civilized.

Wings of Fury is still sitting on my desk.Bought it a while ago to finish off the Johns/Morales run,but haven't gotten around to finishing it.

Im suprised that there is not an existing topic. He`s called Katar Holl now..right?From the Carter Hall?

No, he was reborn back into his human body. He is Carter Hall but has the memories of Katar Holl.

I really like Shadow Thief as a villain for Hawkman. he just always seemed to give Hawkman a run for his money.

What makes Hawkman awesome is the idea of reincarnation. He's literally lived as almost every race and culture on Earth. That's just tons of potential if a writer has the imagination to tap it. That and Carter himself is just incredibly intense while also being sophisticated.

Yeah, that line he gives Kendra in Book 2 about having lived through so many fathers, mother, sisters and brothers thru the years and how he treasures life so much was spot on.

I'm reading JSA only to get my Hawkman fix.

What I'd do different: the chick would be gone, the wings would be real. Katar Hol is a banished warrior from peace-loving Thanagar struggling with his "dark side".

You'd have to do a lot of retconning for the modern DCU's Thanagar to be "peace-loving."

I kinda prefer Thanagar being a military planet. It gives Hawkman a more militant kick ass, ask questions later feel.

I've always preferred the whole Kator Hol thing as apposed to the Egyptian Myth.

Really? I liked Katar Holl but I found Carter Hall (reincarnation version) having a much brighter past to pull from for story ideas. But I guess Katar Holl had just as much of a past that no one really knew about that they could have expanded on...Oh well I like them both :D

I'm into the whole outerspace, Thanagarian thing. I dunno, it's just inherently more interesting to me.

I'm more of a fan of the Egyptian myth and magic. I really don't like the whole Thanagar thing, and wish they would just forget about it. Then again, I'm more of a Golden Age fan than Silver Age anyway when it comes to characters, so I like that interpretation of Hawkman better.

I like both. It was cool how Johns found a way to integrate all of those memories into Carter.

I would recommend reading Johns' run which is only 3 trades long if you want some total Hawkman centric stories.

Hawkman has seriously been flying under the radar since the OYL jump! :( And what sucks is how kick-ass he was for the two years prior! In addition to his solo title, his pivitol role in Identity Crisis rumbled soundly all the way through IC...and then 'poof', nothing. :down

It's because he's been on the JSA for a while. Johns gets bored of anyone who's been on the JSA for more than a year and pretends they no longer exist except as background filler.

Is the trade by Graymiotti up to par with Johns' stuff?

That was great how the Headhunter messed with Hawkman's head questioning his humane nature and making it seem as if his true nature is uncivilized and barbaric.

I think more quality stories of Hawkman can be told in a solo comic, but I have enjoyed his recent moments taking out the Fourth Reich in JSA. A particularly awesome moment in JSA was when Matter Master dug Hawkman's shield into Hawkman's shoulder. Hawkman returned the favor and threw his axe at Matter Master, removing Matter Master's arm.

Graymiotti's run was pretty interesting. It was not up to Johns' caliber, but its worth reading if your interested in Hawkman.
