(Meanwhile at Dr. Connors lab)
Dr Connors: Where is that Parker??? Always late. If he doesn't show up in the next 5 minutes I'm going ho...
(Peter bursts through the lab door)
Peter: Sorry Dr. Connors I got caught up in uh...um...
Dr. Connors: Save it Peter. I wouldn't be surprised if you showed up to your own funeral late. Well let's get to it shall we....
(Peter and Dr. Connors start walking into another room. Peter notices a machine covered in a tarp.)
Peter: Hey what's this???
(Dr. Connors charges towards Peter)
Dr. Connors: Don't touch that!!! That is very sensitive and expenisve equipment. It's something I'm working on that's all.
Peter: Oh...sorry.
Dr. Connors: It's alright. Now can I go over what I've discovered about the symbiote?
Peter:Fill me in.
Dr Connors: Well as you've shown me it is sensitive to vibrating sound waves. I myself have discovered it's also vulnerable to fire. Yet the most interesting of all is the fact how it reacts to an agressive host.
(Dr. Connors pulls out the symbiote which is containted in a secured glass jar)
Dr. Connors: Let's say there is more than one host to chose from. Peter I'd like you to meet Leo and Greg.
(Dr. Connors is referring to two chimps locked in cages.)
Peter: Hi Leo...Hi Greg.
Dr. Connors: Leo is not as aggresive as Greg so play close attention to the way the symbiote reacts coming close to each one of these guys.
(Dr. Connors places the jar in front of Leo and the symbiote barely moves.)
Dr. Connors: Now watch happens when I place it near Greg.
(Dr. Connors places the jar in front of Greg and the symbiote reacts violently as does Greg who is screeching and going crazy in the cage.)
Dr. Connors: I knew that the symbiote was a parasite which feeds off aggressive energy like anger, hate, violence. I just didn't realize how serious this can be. But that's what it needs to attach too. If a host releases energy from any of these kinds of emotions the symbiote can sense it and will follow that host until it attaches itself to it. This is pretty dangerous stuff we have here.
Peter: You can say that again.
(Dr. Connors looks at Peter strangely)
Peter: Ahem...So this little bit of the symbiote that you have left, what do you plan on doing with it?
Dr. Connors: I plan to burn it but not until I have studied everything there is to it. This is an amazing yet pretty dangerous discovery so I have to take certain precautions. That's why I'm coming to a conclusion of finding out a way to control it otherwise if there is no hope I will destroy it.
Peter: You sure that's a good idea Dr. Connors??
Dr. Connors: This is something from out of this world Peter. We've made a discovery unlike anything this world has seen. But before we go public with it we must learn how to control it.
Peter: Public??
Dr. Connors: Imagine if this stuff fell in the wrong hands?? Imagine the possibilites??
Peter: Believe me I have and that's another reason why I think you should get rid of it as soon as you can Dr. Connors.
Dr. Connors: Thanks Peter but I'm being very careful trust me. Your only concern should be passing the finals especially for this class. I'll keep you posted as to what else I might find out about our little alien friend. Don't forget to study ok see you in class.
Peter: Thanks Dr. Connors. See you later.
(Peter walks out but as he does he can't keep his eyes off the machine covered in tarp)
Peter: (talking to himself) Hmmm I wonder what that machine is about?? I hope it's a machine to get rid of that symbiote. If it was up to me I'd burn it before it kills someone elses best friend.

) and promises Stacy that he'll further investigate the smuggling ring that Smythe supposedly runs. Peter goes home to his apartment, exhausted and down. We find out that MJ left Peter for LA. Wanting to find better opportunities, MJ insisted that she should leave NY and take a break from their relationship. It's pretty obvious that she hasn't gotten over the confrontation at the jazz bar from 3, so Peter is again in that stage where the Parker luck is coming into action,. He too is still dealing with Harry's loss, so you can say that he's at the thin line that separates normalcy and depression. But not everything is all doom and gloom, he has a staff job at the Bugle, and he's Dr. Conners' assistant, so he's getting paid better. Also, Him and Gwen Stacy made up since the incident at the Jazz Bar, so Gwen and Peter have gotten closer to each other since the last movie. This is good for Peter, since a good friend can always get you through times of trouble. So, Connors hasn't changed much from the last movie, except for the fact that he has been working overtime at the Biology labs at ESU. Using the symbiote sample from 3 and the funds from the University, Connors is hard at work on a formula that may help people with missing limbs regenerate their lost body parts. Since Connors is a physicist, not a biologist, he builds a reactor that fuses the DNA of the Symbiote and Lizard DNA to produce this formula. We find out that the symbiote has the ability to replicate DNA from a sample of tissue. So mixed in with the Lizard DNA and the replicated genetic code, arms, legs, faces, any part of the human body can be replicated. Connors believes, like Otto Octavius before him, that this invention may be what may make him great amongst men. But it is his ignorance that contributes to his downfall. Like all Mad scientists do, Connors believes that higher output from the machine will allow for the two samples to bond with each other. The machine overloads, and explodes. The explosion evaporates the symbiote sample and the Lizard DNA, causing a gaseous reaction. This gaseous reaction doesn't affect Connors at first, but as the weeks progress, Peter and Gwen start to notice the devastating effects the accident had on Connors. Connor starts feeling cold in the middle of July, he suddenly has an appetite for insects, and huge patches of his own skin start to shed. Peter and Gwen figure out that the accident had somehow imprinted the Symbiote/Lizard DNA into Connors' own DNA. Being the genius Peter is, Peter races against the clock to find a way to stop Connors' mutation. Meanwhile, Spider-Man continues his investigation on Allister Smythe, but what Spider-Man doesn't know that someone else is investigating him. One night, Spider-Man confronts Smythe and his goons at the docks. His goons all turn out to have high powered experimental laser sniper rifles. This particular event gives gets really tense, since Spidey basically is using his spider-sense to try and point out where Smythe's goons are at. Spidey eventually takes out all of Smythe's goons. Spidey confronts Smythe and threatens to turn in Smythe, telling him he'll lose everything that he's ever worked for. Spidey offers a deal where if Smythe stops his smuggling ring, he'll let him go with a warning. Unfortunately, Smythe explains to Spidey that money will always be the key to Smythe's happiness and that money is the only thing that's really definite in this world nowadays. Smythe is willing to do anything, take any risk, as long as there is money and success involved in the benefits. It is after this that Smythe unleashes his newest creation on the heels of his acquisition of Oscorp, the slayers (think of the imperial probe droids from ESB but sleeker and outfitted with goblin-like weaponry). He sends two slayers after Spider-Man, which ensues an clausturphobic chase across the docks. Spider-Man is eventually cornered by the slayers, but all of a sudden the slayers are taken out by an unknown shadowy figure. Spider-Man asks who the figure is, but the figures disappears, and leaves behind a portfolio. Spidey takes the portfolio, and sees candid photos of Peter Parker. Spider-Man takes a closer look at the photos and realizes who the figure was. As he comes to his epiphany, Spider-man is knocked out from the back. He gets up and sees what seems to be a ghost back from the dead, Eddie Brock comes towards the fallen hero and simply tells him, "Hey Parker."
