Sequels The Official "How YOU would do Spider-Man 4" thread

MJ needs to break up with Peter at the beginning of the next one, either go to LA and get some work, or get some good work in NY, and then she'll lighten up.

-In Spidey 3 she was really annoying and needy, but lest us not forget that she DID she her boyfriend very uncharacteristically kiss another woman in front of her, so I chalk it all up to bad writing. Peter isn't that much of a jerk, or that stupid, and MJ really isn't that annoying.

-Have her break up because she says to Pete that she can't keep seeing him beaten up and getting shot at on the news, night after night. And especially after seeing Spidey almost die at the hands of the savage Lizard, she needs to let him go because she thinks he's gonna die any day and it hurts her too much. Just like a cop's wife keeps asking him to retire.

-like the idea about Mj leaving for her job for awhile(like in the JMS run) it would be really beilevable esp after wat happened in SM 3 ,and let the realtionship with balc cat happen while MJ is gone,

-agree with let MJ leaving pete, then i would skip Mj from 5(apart from seeing her react to spiderman on the news0 and then have her reapear at the end of 5, saying she loves him too much. and then have them marry at the end of 6 - i think they should eventually end up as they are meant for each other,

plus with her gone, the film can have pete man up abit and let the filmamkers get all the stuff fans want , e.g. the science and more wise cracks

also i want scenes famous in the comcis like pete reading a paper upside down or scaring a newspaper stand guy . : )

This is how my SM4 would go down.

*Introduce Adrian Toomes as a wealthy Businessman that just purchased Oscorp.
*Show him hiring Kurt Conners.
*Other then Toomes Enterprises, he also fronts an underground crime Syndicate run by the Big man. In his employ are Silver Sable, Hammerhead, the Enforcers, and the Chameleon.
*Toomes finds the Glider tech and plans to use them(not this film).
*A disgruntled former Enforcer Herman Schults is introduced. He tries to get revenge on his former employers by steal from one of Toomes Warehouses. He ends up with the Shocker suit. Now a full fledged power he attempts to take on Toomes in an all out War in NY.
*This movie is essentially Spiderman Vs Shocker Vs the Enforcers(Just Montana, Ox and Fancy Dan) with a Vulture set-up.
*Spiderman and MJ take a break at the beginning of the film.
*No Dancing....:cmad:
*Set-up a Gwen and Peter romance.
*At the very End, show Toomes hiring Felicia Hardy and Kraven.

Keep the Cast the Same except....
Spiderman/Peter Parker - Joseph Gordon-Levitt
Mary Jane - Vinessa Shaw(Cameo)
Then add
Toomes - Rene Auberjonois
The Big Man - James Gamdolfini
Fancy Dan - Nathan Fillion
Montana - Dallas Roberts
Ox - Nathan Jones
Shocker - Peter Berg
Silver Sable - Naomi Watts
Hammerhead - Micheal Imperioli
Chameleon - Vladimir Mashkov
Black Cat(cameo) - Katherine Heigl
Kraven (Cameo) - Karl Urban
http://www.imdb.com/ <--- If you don't know the actors.

^^^^
Thats an interesting concept, I've always wanted to see a Gang War type movie. The only things I'd change would be....

*Have this as SM5 cause I personally want to see Lizard and Kraven in SM4. :oldrazz:
* Since this is a Spider-Man movie, gotta add a story/theme/struggle/ whatever that Peter faces in his life. The movie should be centered around that.
*Take out Black Cat, Kraven, Silver Sable, Chameleon and The Big Man. Have Hammerhead leading the crime syndicate and the Enforcers. No need to overbloat this movie. :cwink:
*Toomes becomes The Vulture by the movie's climax.
* Give plenty of time to develop Vulture and Shocker, there our main villains. Hammerhead would probably be more of a supporting villain, so doesnt need as much as the previous two. The Enforcers are just regular thugs, so they really don't need any development.

Doing this you'll have more breathing room for the movie, taking out any unwanted elements and characters and intensifying whats left. :hyper:

here's my plan start from a scratch kinda what the new hulk is doing.

1.Peter is working as a intern at ESU he'sa juggling work and spiderman as always.
2. New take on green goblin. Ultimate version with classic costume somewaht modified.
3. Tons of fight sequences. Scenes that could be tear jerkers.
4. if done right the plot could be like the night gwen stacy died arc.
5. End movie with goblin death and peter being approached for a lab grant by an otto octavius

Reading that made me wish that made a straight to DVD animated movie of what you just said. I'd love to see that and wouldn't have to worry about continuity or anything, it be a stand alone movie.

Spider-Man 4
Peter Parker/Spider-Man: Tobey Maguire
Mary Jane Watson: Kirsten Dunst
Dr. Curt Connors/Lizard: Dylan Baker
Eddie Brock/Venom: Topher Grace

Story: Peter's life is as complicated as ever. He still wants to marry MJ, but isn't making enough money to pay his bills. In the midst of all this, Peter has to save his mentor Dr. Connors, as he rampages through the city as Lizard, a foe who carries no heart and shows no mercy to his prey. Lizard and Spider-Man have a battle on the streets of New York, and eventually, Lizard escapes into the sewers. Meanwhile, Eddie Brock is prowling the city, stalking Peter.

Lizard makes his way to the top of a building. Spider-Man shows up, but Lizard throws him off and makes his way to the sewers. Spider-Man walks over to the ledge and drops down into the sewers. He searches everywhere, but can't find Lizard, then suddenly, a black, clawed hand smacks Spider-Man, sending him flying into a wall. Venom jumps down and lands in front of Spider-Man, who says, "Eddie!?" Venom punches Spider-Man in the face and tries to hit him again, but Spider-Man dodges it. They both grapple and fall into the water below. Spider-Man's head emerges from the water, but when he looks around, Venom is gone.

The Matrix and Terminator 2 wasn't gory.

Yay I am back to kick some more ass!

Seriously, did you see a different version of those two movies than I did?

The Matrix had squib blood spurts everywhere, a robot burying into a man's belly, 4 cases of blood spurts from mouth and the fricken' horrifying waking up in the real world sequence.

T2 is almost a nightmare. It had tons of blood, skin being blown off, people being stabbed constantly with blood. Maybe you have Alzheimer's but I vividly remember there being a scene were the T-1000 turns her arm into a huge blade and stabs the guy through the mouth. Also scenes with the Security Guard and Sara being impaled constantly, not to mention the crazy ass scene were Arnold takes a knife to his forearms and PULLS HIS SKIN OFF!!!!

Not gory my ass. Maybe it is not Texas Chainsaw II, but there is a reason why those movies were Rated R bucko.

Oh, and I am going to write a treatment for Spider-Man 4 in a moment. Now all I need to do is to stop calling ******ed members by there real name. :woot:

What they need to do is restart the franchise and use the "Spectacular Spider-Man" cartoon frame by frame, word for word and take 6 episodes and make them into 1 live action movie.

We would get tons of character development, more action, better stories, etc.

This show has renewed my faith in Spider-Man after Spider-Man 3.

It also leads me to believe you could do a kick-ass Spider-Man 4 with the Lizard, Kraven the Hunter, AND the Vulture (played by Sir Ben Kingsley, otherwise don't bother) and it could have awesome character development, a plot that makes sense, and incredible action.

The way "Spectacular" uses as many characters as possible without taking anything away from the stories is awesome. And it's all done in 22 minutes.

Take Notes, Sony Execs!

My faith won't be restored until Marvel fix a decade or more of sh:tty Spider-Man comics. That's the source material in case you people forgot.

And Spectacular Spider-Man pretty much does belongs to SONY. It certainly isn't all Marvel, that's for sure. So they're just continuing to make money off of disgruntled geeks before and after their movies. I don't think Marvel can do a damn thing without Sony now a days outside of comics.

Wow, if you thought The Matrix and T2 was gory, you should have the word WIMP ASS branded on your forehead. Ever watch CSI, that's 20 times more gory than anything in The Matrix or T2 combined? And it's on regular TV (not cable) for all children to watch anytime they want...for free.

Kids/teens watched a person get beheaded in "300" and watch Jesus get tortured bloody in "The Passion of the Christ." Do you really think the stuff in T2 and The Matrix is what they consider gory? Have you seen the video games that kids are playing these days, that's gory?

It's like I've always said, most Spider-Man fans are too sensitive and light-hearted, thus, is the reason why they're giving you Disney-like Spider-Man films.

How about the scene where the Bad-Terminator stabs the guy through his torso... wait, I'm talking about 'T3', that scene was brutal:o

You do not get it do you?

Did I ever said that that is what I think is gory? No.

But that is what the movie rating system thinks.

If you have blood, constant swearing and tissue removal then it is Rated R.

It does not matter if YOU can tolerate it or not, law and FCC is law. For instance, I can survive being hit in the head with a bowling ball. Does that mean it perfectly ok to tell people that if they get hit in the head with a bowling ball that they are weak and it is not painful? Hell no!

Also, kids are not suppose to be watching 300 or CSI. Only lazy parents lets there kids do.

Lastly, this guy insulted me for no reason. Why is this guy not banned?

I call fowl on SSH Mods.

My point is that Vis speaks his mind and can be harsh. So don't take what he says personally.

Crying to the Mods I see. Maybe your name should be Sensitive Sidepocket or maybe Sissy Sidepocket. :hehe:

The movie and game industry thanks those lazy parents every year (in BILLIONS), because the ratings are full of crap. It doesn't stop kids from seeing or buying R-rated movies or games, it makes them gravitate towards them even more. If kids didn't watch movies like 300, do you think it would be as successful as it was, moreso than Batman Begins (which is PG-13)? That's just the way it is, FCC my ass, they're just letters that no one but you pay attention to.

And you should be called "The Un-Visionary Psychotic Waste of A Good Bar of Soap and a Shower".

Not crying to the mods, I am just calling for justice when there is none.

It has nothing to do with the ratings, in fact the ratings is what is holdings things back in our society. When you see a rating, its a warning, therefore you cannot cry fowl after if you have a negative impact from it.

Cigs have warning that says you get lung cancer. Therefore if you get lung cancer from cigs you should have no right to complained because we warned your stupid self in the first place.

You do not get it though, Movie Theaters and Game Stores have a rule that they NEVER sell kids M or R rated stuff. However like with most warnings, nothing stops other adults from taking the same products and exposing it to there kids. This is were parenting should come in, of course, it fails in our society.

How do you think kids get cigs and beer from? The companies and stores do not sell them to kids, but the older brothers or other adults who do not care BUY IT FOR THEM!

Oh and while Batman is popular with kids, I never saw anyone below 17 care for 300. In fact when I went to see it, everyone was 20+. Only one woman was stupid enough to bring her infant in and after the first 40 seconds the kid cried and she left the theater.

In short, f'you and your insane ramblings and lets get back on topic.

P.S. You can be mature and yet not have an R-Rating. If you think all mature is blood and guts than I think you are the one who has not grown passed 12. Ever read this classic? This had no comics code on it or anything: http://www.spiderfan.org/comics/reviews/spiderman_social_ncpca/pp.html

P.S.S. I work in the games industry and you are out of your mind if you think we encourage kids to buy our game. Right, that is why we air our ads at 3am in the morning and constantly try to sell these things to ADULTS! We do not want kids to buy M-Rated games, we want adults to buy them. This is why...they are MADE FOR ADULTS!!! In fact, we are starting to support a new law that basically makes it illegal in the US officially to sell such games to children. The problem is, there is no laws against lazy parenting. If a grown up wants something we have to give it to them, what they do with it is out of our hands.

And yes, IMMATURE teenagers love this stuff because they think it makes them grown up, until you reach adult age and you do not give a crock about blood or gore anymore and realize that Gory does not equal Mature. Mature is mature. There is a difference. If people started to teach this, like my parents did, there would not be all this stupid stuff you see now.

DUH!

Holy f(bleep)k! Mind-vacuum!

Before you read all of my comments below, let me explain a little something about myself. I am a script reader for a nationally-known production company (don't ask: NDA, sorry). My job is to read scripts submitted to my employer via emial (which is why I do not need to live in Hollywood) and send along my recommendations to a higher-up who oversees it, and, if it is worthy, passes it off to someone else, who...well you get the idea. Eventually it will fall into the hands of a producer. And if you know anything about script readers, then you know the rule: if you aren't hooked by page ten (10), toss it. If I make it past the tenth page then I keep reading until the first plot point (usually around page twenty/twenty-five or so). If I still like it I finish. If I still like it I send it off. I have been doing this job for three years. In that time I have sent five (5) screenplays to the person above me. Of those, none have made it beyond that point. So, do I write screenplays? I wrote one all the way through to the end several years ago; a short horror piece. After more than fifty rewrites, it was just picked up by a producer in London. I do not think that high of myself. It is only a short. I have never completed a feature length due to time restraints and lack of technique (but I have a program now and the short producer has asked me to write a feature thriller). So I know what I'm talking about, but please take my below comments as a pro-reader/amateur writer.

Okay. Forgetting all of the recent posts--all the arguing--and getting back to the thread topic, I've read some good stuff here. Now, mind you, I said "good." There are some truly creative people on this board and they have proven so. But what I'm not seeing here is any originality.

I started at the beginning of this thread and read (for almost a week) everything--and I'm sorry, but I have forgotten some. And here's what I noticed. There are a few people in this thread that know about screenwriting. I'm not sure if they are screenwriters or just know how to. But it doesn't seem that anyone is listening to them. The stories are filled with multiple villains and dialogue that just isn't going to cut it. The "scripts" seem to have been written by way of just writing and seeing where it goes. Oh, sure, the authors have an idea or a "plot," but screenplays are more than plot.

I read one "script" where there were two symbiotes, the Kingpin, and...hell I forgot; I think the Lizard and Shocker were in there, too. Or maybe I'm getting several confused. Which goes back to my comment on originality.

First up: CHARACTERS

I know we are all fans and try and be as true to the comics as possible, but that isn't how it works. I'd rather see some one's creative interpretation of the Carnage origin story than the canonized version where it is an offspring of the Venom symbiote. Perhaps Cletus Kasady is a construction worker on the building where Venom was defeated and picked up his counterpart there. However, I don't think we'll be seeing another alien costume in the Spidey franchise. Another common villain I've seen is the Lizard. Which is fine and works visually, but not on paper. How is his character different from the Green Goblin or Doc Ock? All are scientists who experimented on themselves and it went "wrong." All have strong ties to Peter as influences and mentors and friends. I just don't think the Lizard is an effective character since he is a re-worked copy of previous characters. And since the Spider-Man movies are basically character studies, how about some different characters. One of my favorites that I thought we would have seen by now is Electro. Electro was the only thing that I thought worked for Cameron's vision. He was a genuine bad guy who then got powers and used them for his own personal gain. Not only is he the exact opposite of Spider-Man (or, if you will, what Peter could have turned into had he not had that important lesson from Uncle Ben) but he is visually stunning as well (an effect that was highly neglected in Storm's powers in the X-Franchise). Another character situation is what has been called "the many loves of Peter Parker." I believe at this point, Pete would have settled down with MJ and left his rambunctious love-life behind. There is plenty of opportunity for romantic breakdown with he and MJ in a married environment that there isn't really any need for other girls.

Moving on: STORY

Screenplays, like advanced Algebra, have a relatively relied upon formula. It is called the Screenplay Paradigm and all junior screenwriters should study and know it by heart. It's really simple to obtain by searching Google, so I won't go into it...and this isn't a screenwriting course. But, as I said before, what I've read here seems like the authors have just sat themselves down at their friendly neighborhood word processor and started writing with an idea in mind...and kept writing, and writing and writing. Not to say they didn't have a clear idea where THEY were going, but I was clueless. Plot lines were thrown in as a way to add a twist, but all the did was confuse. Now I'm sure that we are all pretty sure that none of these screenplays will be picked up by Marvel or Sony for consideration, so it isn't really a big deal; except when the author wants feedback. So what I'm proposing is that some of these authors take their ideas and work them into NOVELS. Novels are much more in depth and allow for some serious storytelling. Also, a novel has a much better chance for being picked up by Marvel than a screenplay.

Please don't take my comments the wrong way. I started to write a Spider-Man fan script, but I did it for me so that I could tell MY Spider-Man story MY way. It was never meant for anyone to read. I appreciate everyone who posted their stories here. They were fun and show the author's love for the characters and universe in which they reside. But please consider your stories. Do they take the main characters to a different place than they've ever been? Are you rehashing themes? Is it an original story or your version of someone else's? These questions make a big difference and it does show.

But please keep posting your stories. They are entertaining and easy on the brain.

So, do I write screenplays? I wrote one all the way through to the end several years ago; a short horror piece. After more than fifty rewrites, it was just picked up by a producer in London. I do not think that high of myself. It is only a short. Dude, if you're for real (which you can never really tell) congrats on a cool job and your screenplay getting picked up.

There are some truly creative people on this board and they have proven so. But what I'm not seeing here is any originality.

Here's the thing. This is SPIDER-MAN 4. Not ORIGINAL SUPERHERO MOVIE IDEA. I think a lot of people (myself included) feel like there are so many great Spidey stories already out there, that there's enough to pick and choose from without having to do something really original. All of my ideas for 4 are all taking from great comics of the past. Comic idea: Spider-Man knows that Norman Osborn was the Green Goblin and doesn't tell his best friend Harry. Original movie idea: the Sandman shot uncle Ben and has a sick daughter. Maybe some of us don't wanna make more stuff up. Just move stuff around.

First up: CHARACTERS

Another common villain I've seen is the Lizard. Which is fine and works visually, but not on paper. How is his character different from the Green Goblin or Doc Ock? All are scientists who experimented on themselves and it went "wrong." All have strong ties to Peter as influences and mentors and friends. I just don't think the Lizard is an effective character since he is a re-worked copy of previous characters.

One of my ideas was to use Lizard as, yes, a mentor and friend and scientist whose experiment "goes wrong", but I also wanted to get him out of the way in the first 15-30 minutes of the movie. I think his character works best later on as a friend of Peter's whose always on the brink of turning into a monster again. And Pete needs another friend, his best friend just died. I also wanted to have Doc Conners be the only one who could save a sick Aunt May, so Peter really has a reason for helping his friend get back to the good side, not just stopping the evil villain. And I agree that the Lizard himself isn't that compelling, at least The Green Goblin and Doc Ock could have a conversation with Peter. The Lizard is just a monster, so you need to bring in a hunter. The great thing about the Kraven/Lizard pair is that they compliment each other so well, and if you have Lizzy out of the way in the first 30, you bring over Kraven from Europe and the story goes from there.

One of my favorites that I thought we would have seen by now is Electro.

I think Electro would be great, although I don't think he can hold his own movie, he's not as smart as the first two villains, and has no dramatic element like the New Goblin. Also, I think most people really want to see the Lizard pay off, because Dylan Baker has been in two movies now, people feel like he's the next logical step. But Electro would be awesome (if done differently than LAME Storm) in like Spider-Man 5 or 6.

Another character situation is what has been called "the many loves of Peter Parker." I believe at this point, Pete would have settled down with MJ and left his rambunctious love-life behind. There is plenty of opportunity for romantic breakdown with he and MJ in a married environment that there isn't really any need for other girls.

Now, on this I disagree. First of all, Pete never had a rambunctious love-life in the movies, lol. He only moped over MJ, or screwed up what he and MJ had. Second, am I the only one that thought Peter and MJ were NOT together at the end of the last one? They ended the movie very vaguely. There's no kiss or running into open arms, or even a conversation like "hey, Peter, your dead friend MADE me break up with you, I still love you" or "I didn't mean to punch you in the face, MJ, I had an evil alien suit on me, I still love you", but nothing. I don't feel like they're getting married anytime soon. Plus, they introduce Gwen Stacy in the last one, who was not only more beautiful and charming, but was more interesting than MJ. And although there IS plenty of opportunity for romantic breakdown IF they were married, I think most people would find it easier to believe that Pete and MJ broke up for a while and Pete slowly went out with Gwen. It seems more likely to happen in one movie than something like them getting married right at the end after the big villain fight.

Anyway, good feedback. I agree with you on people needing to put more emphasis on story and characters and then other stuff.

i would have mysterio and lizard...or kraven and lizard...or mysterio and electro
i love mysterio
