Chun Li wears leather now? God I wish I had better hopes for that movie. I wish Capcom would take themselves seriously.

After doing a search, I found no such pics. The closest thing would be that poster that has her in the blue outfit, but doesn't have buns in her hair, it's just her normal long black hair. Wardrobe doesn't matter much, really. As long as they have her in something resembling her outfit at some point.

I'm not hating on kruek or street fighter. I love both. I just know Capcom's track record. And don't see this movie turning out good.

I think it's tough to try and completely emulate the entire "look" of a video game, particularly if you're making a movie aimed at a wider audience. I don't play the game, so I have little interest in whether or not she looks exactly like the animated character. I know she's not going to have those cartoonishly huge thighs! Yeesh. You'd have to be deformed to carry those off.

I have about zero expectations for this movie. Besides the fact I dont like Kristin as an actress (just my opinion), I dont think she has the look for the character at all, again just my opinion.

Off the top of my head I would have rather had Kelly Hu, but thats just me

Either way I there are many better women who can pull off the part better than Kreuk imo.

Yeah she had a part in X2 as Yuriko Oyama / Lady Deathstrike which was way underused/miss-used, one of the only things about that film that really bugged me. Of course my Top choice now that I had time to think about it would have been Ziyi Zhang. But I dont think the "American" audience would accept her in that role, even though she has shown she can do action very well and her acting pretty damn good. Though I dont think she speaks English very well, so if this was a Chinese made film..the would be perfect lol.

That's great. Generally, this isn't a thread to express how much you HATE her though. Sure, it's allowed, but it's similar to the people who come into this forum only to let everyone know how much they HATE Smallville - it's annoying as hell.

I've seen the X-Men movies but didn't remember Kelly Hu. Beautiful woman; same for the photos. Too bad she's not several inches taller - I could push her in the WW casting thread to be one of the Amazons :-<

I dont believe I actually trashed her. All I really stated was 2 women who I thought where better actors and physically better for the Role Chun-Li.
Yeah I might dislike Kreuk, but I dont push it onto other people because know some people are sensitive.

Oh and I do like Smallville me and my GF watch it all the time. (btw which is better now that she is not on it right now lol hehe)

Justin Marks, the screenwriter behind Street Fighter, was interviewed by JoBlo and had this to say about Kristin:

I have to assume you wrote in a Chun-Li shower scene. For the purists of course...

Yes, about that shower scene...

No this is actually a good moment to mention something about Chun-Li's depiction in the movie. Basically there are two factors at work. First, I've never seen a successful action movie (in my mind) that blatantly sexualized its female lead and succeeded for its audience. CATWOMAN, ELEKTRA, the list goes on and on, and I just get a lot of eye-rolling. Then I think back to THE TERMINATOR, or possibly my all-time favorite movie, ALIENS, and I think of how Ripley is depicted in that film. She's a tough woman, but not because she came from a place of wearing tight pants and beating up men. She's tough because she had this core emotional story about a life that could have been and never was. To me, that's the way you write a woman in these kinds of movies.

The second factor is Kristin herself. She's really something special, a fantastic actress and very selective about what she will and won't do, because she knows that lots of girls out there are really impressionable. So we've gone to great lengths to make sure Chun-Li is not just a sex object fantasy for people's desktop backgrounds. That was something Kristin made very clear, and we're honored that she's willing to go that route, because it's one of the factors that's going to elevate this above adolescent video-game adaptation.

That said, did I mention Kristin is gorgeous? And there's one very steamy night club scene where she does... awesome things... to get the information she needs.

I see straight through you, man. Don't try to hide the absence of a shower scene by waxing philosophical about the nature of the accessible female action lead.

Congratulations; you just lost 30% of your opening day audience. And my support. In fact I'm pretty sure I hate you. A Kristin Kreuk shower scene would be like a Babe Ruth rookie card and you squandered it. Positive role models are way overrated.

Just wait for the Chun-Li / Vega fight scene, my friend...

Strangely, that photo doesn't ring any bells. I'll have to rewatch X2 over the holidays (crunch time around the house until at least TG - can't right now). But thanks for posting it!

I prefer her old hairstyle but she still looked great. I miss her on the show I do understand that they took a new direction in revamping this season though. This has been a better season for SV really . The last 5 years have been kind of bleh, but it's been ramped up.

People are already ripping the movie to shreds because Kristin doesn't have ridiculously HUGE cartoon thighs. Oh, and she's apparently not Asian enough either.

Forget that she did a lot of her own fighting, because thin girls can't fight (apparently these people never saw Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon). They also had some incredible trained fighters who worked on this film. I hope all these preemptive complainers still give it a chance.

Whatever. I'm still excited to see it. Hopefully it won't suck.

So he asked me to recreate it in photoshop. LOL I think it came out pretty well for all of 5 minutes.
