Ugh I was on IMDB before i came here....worst forums ever, but ya alot of the time they have good info

^For every piece of accurate info there's a thousand falsities, that's why anything stemming from said site is frowned upon.

the production would be ignorant not to plead to johns for any advice. ideally, they'd pay him to do a whole revision of the script.

ive read a little of the script and its good seems like a good entertainment film. Not as good as I would have hoped but still good

I remember something about them consulting Johns, but I don't know if he saw it.

well it was only the 1st draft of the script we dont know still what was changed/modified/removed in later drafts for the film.

I too read the interview with Marc Guggenheim, where he talked about Johns reading the script and providing some input, probably for later drafts. He also talked about how they were writing the first draft of the script at the same time Johns was doing his "Secret Origins" arc, and how they were left wanting to incorporate some "Secret Origins" elements into their story.

^Thanks, Keyser. That's very good news to hear :)

I don't know why they wouldn't just assign Geoff Johns to oversee all the DC movie, especially if the plan is to make all the movies tied-up in one universe like Marvel is doing. Seriously, there's no one else better at this stuff than Johns. He understands what makes the DCU tick. Heck, why not give him a crack at the Superman movie relaunch?

It would certainly be cool if he contributed to the GL script. I remember reading interviews with Guggenheim on Newsarama.com where he touched on the subject of "Secret Origins", but I'm not sure if he said notes where taken directly from Johns. What I am certain about is that John August mentioned in his blog that he took some pointers from Geoff Johns for his now shelved Shazam script.

Anyways, I am overly excited about this movie - it's about time! Gotta say, though, I didn't expect someone like Martin Campbell to tackle the project. I know that many people don't give him enough credit, but personally, I enjoyed most of his stuff - especially Mask of Zorro. What worries me about him is that I don't know how much he is into the Green Lantern lore. He's never done sci-fi before, which is what GL is all about. Is he aware of the huge fans' expectations? Would he treat it with the utmost respect that it deserves? Only time will tell.

Well the script definitely has touches of Johns' sort of sensibilities. That sort of updated Hal Jordan type of story that we got in Secret Origins. Also the way the Sinestro/Hal relationship is played is very similar to Secret Origins.

I think they could've done a lot more though. Like maybe use Atrocitus and more Kilowag.

I hope it's true. Now, if only Warner Bros. could get Johns to do work on a Superman script...

Even though I know DC doesnt really care about it (or at least its not a priority) they should make their own films studio under WB...because honestly there is more money to be made in movies than in comics alone through the movie itself, Happy Meals, soundtrack, etc.

That wouldnt make any sense though. Someone is probably going to go on some huge rant about how and why Marvel could and did do their studio.

Yea as nice as it would be if they did have a dc studio for the dc films. they are likely not going to do it since WB owns DC and it would be counter productive to do it and all that.

What are some of the problems with DC having their own film studio besides:
Having to hire a director and basically have to hire a whole new team

WB owns DC comics.
True and WB should start a division for entertainment based on DC properties. in many interviews Dan Didio has stated "DC does the comics, WB does the entertainment they're 2 separate things." and if WB has a division like that I wish they'd let us know. I think Marvel fans feel more secure knowing Marvel Studios is dealing with a character they like and DC fans may feel the same way if their favorite character's movie was from DC Studios.

WB owns DC comics.
i know this but that doesnt really define what is the big problem with it if DC starts something under WB then WB still owns the rights but DC gets more control than they have now

we dont really know. Since we dont know what was altered in the later drafts of the script.

The relationship that DC has with the WB under the TWX umbrella is perfectly fine. You guys just don't realize how much it takes to get capital and run your own pictures. DC has the backing of 100 years expericence in the filmaking business. They are doing fine with the projects that have been produced thus far. As for Johns, It is uncertain as to whether or not he had any input on "Green Lantern" althoug we do know about his work with Green Lantern and "Blackest Night" in the comics. I checked his website and he is not taking e-mails although there is mention to an interview with IFanboy where he talks about his work with "Flash: Rebirth" and "Blackest Night". One thing is for sure, though, the script for the Green Lantern film did go through DC for review.

I agree with you Blackman.

They way I could see it is, WB opens a subdivison of their company and make it strictly DC projects. This way WB still owns DC and they can just focus on DC films.
