The Official Mark Strong & Sinestro Thread

Mark has John Carter of Mars going on right now. From what I read, his role isn't big but he does play an important character (via motion capture). If they can manage to film his scenes early on and then move onto Green Lantern, then it won't be a problem.

However, there's also makeup tests, costume fittings, and prep time so maybe he can come in later during Green Lantern's production (April)

Mark Strong is literally awesome in everything he is in, and while I think he'd do a good job as Sinestro too - I just think Isaacs is more suited to the role.

I say save Strong for another comicbook role someplace.

He's a great choice. I cannot wait for this movie! Here's the most interesting thing to me from the Variety article

Strong would play Sinestro, Jordan's one-time mentor who's been banished to an antimatter universe for abusing the power of the Green Lantern.

He doesn't go rogue in this film though. Here he only serves as Hal's mentor.

He fits the part better than JEH that's for sure.

And Hush have you ever seen the guy act? Because he does portray traits that are perfect for Sinestro.

I think we may be confused here, Im saying that JEH doesnt fit at all. I think Strong or Issacs should get it. I have seen JEH act and it just doesnt knock me out or say wow he would be a great Sinestro. Strong does, I saw him and Holmes and was plesantly suprised. I love how deep his voice is. It would be nice to hear him as Sinestro.

I don't believe Strong's role will be Motion capture. Matai Shang was (in the book, anyway) a bald white guy in a blond wig. From what I can tell, in the movie he's a god with shapeshifting abilities. The role should--as my aforementioned fad stated-- be a small taste of things to come in the sequels. Which makes sense because Matai Shang wasn't even in the first book.

As for mark strong as sinestro i think that is a great pick. I cant wait to see how they will pull off the character and his look. i am sure they will do it well.

Strong would be a good choice for Sinestro as he plays dark and cunning quite well imo. Also, unlike Jackie Earle Haley, he'd pose a better physical threat to Hal Jordan which is important when casting a role like this.I actually just watched Body Of Lies last week in which he's charismatic, intimidating and i also quite liked his performance in Stardust where plays yet another bad guy.

so is strong a done deal? i read that he was going to be in john carter of mars, too. isn't that filming around the same time gl is filming? strong seems like a good choice, but if they can't get him they could try for jude law. i think he could pull it off as well.

well its pretty much a sure thing. As for john carter that is filming now and from what i heard folks say strong isnt going to be filming for a long time on it. Plus GL isnt filming to the first or second week of march. So he has time.

As for strong def cant want to see him decked out in a gl costume, pointy ears, and red skin and the facial hair too.

Correct, but how do you think Sinestro's turn to darkness will be foreshadowed?

they will probably make hints on how he treats foes/peers/and his sector.

I think his name is gonna be a huge clue to the general audience.

I think they'll show that he is growing a bit disillusioned with the Guardians methods and their bureaucracy.
