Yep! Goes to show what an amazing manip it is. He does look like Sinestro there.

But then you pan down to his body and show his physique...

And I dunno, I just can't imagine him as an arrogant, pompous asshat talking down to someone like Reynolds.

Some of the most intimidating people I know are pretty short. If tom cruise can have a successful career as a hollywood leading man at 5'6, then I don't see the problem with JEH playing sinestro.

Because Sinestro is supposed to be physically imposing. He's bigger than Hal Jordan, not smaller.

I do agree with you about the look, Ace.

My top 3 faves are Viggo Mortensen, Ralph Fiennes and Jason Isaacs, but I'm not gonna lose my mind if it turns out to be JEH.

Well na I won't go nuts.

But he is far from the perfect choice IMO. And it's obvious the studios main motives for choosing him are simply because he's been working with them a lot recently and he's playing an iconic villain already. They probably think (and maybe rightly so) that the G.A (mainly horror fans) will be like "Hey Freddy Kruger is gonna be in that Green Lantern flick, let's check it out!"

I agree. Not only that, but to me he looks a bit weak to be Sinestro. Sinestro needs physical stature, he needs to be imposing and JEH is only 5' 5½".
Even his face doesnt have that Isaacs or Hugo quality of "i am the greatest GL around, you can touch me if you want"

I have a feeling Digital Effects will be used to make JEH look taller in the film.

Don't worry....JEH would be a good choice.

I prefer Viggo or Weaving though.

I'm torn on the new 'Elm Street'. I love Freddy and I'm sure Jackie will do a good job, but there's no way he'll ever be as good as Robert Englund.

I don't think you should try to compare them to be honest. They are only the same character in name and origin. Apparently they are going a completely different direction with his personality and all that.

Mortensen's face looks nothing like Sinestro if you ask me.
And with JEH its not just the height (which they have to use CGI to fix or he'll look ridiculous) but the face and demeanor as well. JEH looks like he's doing chemo. OK i am not making fun of cancer or anything, but he just looks weak. Isaaks is just majestic and obnoxious as if he was the King of England or whatever.

I think WB should trust the fans on this one.

I prefer JEH to any casting choice bar daniel day lewis. I like how unknown he is, and that'll give him a chance to make the role his own, instead of me just seeing isaacs playing another snobby villain, or huge weaving playing agent smith/elrond.

I would also be interested in seeing what viggo mortenson or daniel craig would do in the role, but I don't see that happening.

I'm sorry but I don't care that this cast isn't full of huge stars like most of WB's other comicbook movie casts. I only care if the actors are good and IMHO Sarsgard and Reynolds are fine actors.

I don't like JEH for Sinestro, to be honest. He's a great actor, but he doesn't have an imposing physique, and I've never seen him display pure, obnoxious, pompous contempt before. When I read the GL comics and see Sinestro, I see Isaacs.

I'm not saying he is the only one who could do the role justice, but for me, he IS Sinestro.

From what I have been reading, it's sounding like Sinestro is just going to be an introductory appearance for the sequel. He is not going to be the main villain. For all we know we might have a different person as Sinestro in any sequel, but then again, you never know.

One thing that I do appreciate in Haley, moreso than other potentially 'better' actors, is that he seems to be able to sacrifice his own ego for the sake of a role. He has worn a mask in Watchmen and is covered in latex in Elm St. I know other actors make the same sacrifice, but something about Haley is that he really doesn't seem like he would care in the least if they buried him under prosthetics to make sure he could pull off a believable Sinestro. He isn't anywhere near my dream choice, but I certainly woudn't lose any enthusiasm if he is chosen.

My top picks would be Isaacs & Weaving. But I'd also like Mark Strong in the role as well.

The thing is, it seems that he and Isaacs have been "typecast" as villains. Strong's played villains in Stardust, Sherlock Holmes and Kick-Ass. (And more if I'm not mistaken.)

i have to point out that, despite WB wanting Jackie to be Sinestro, it doesn't mean he wants to do it..or has agreed to it.

Jackie Early Haley is by no means my top choice for Sinestro, but if he were to be cast, it'd hardly be the disaster some are making it out to be. Yes, Sinestro is tall, but it's hardly the character's defining characteristic.

THe characters defining characteristic is a pompous, arrogant look and attitude. Jackie has never displayed either of those things, either looks wise or personality wise. So forgive me if I'm not too confident.

I did some searching and depending on the artist Sinestro's size can vary. Sometimes he is smaller than Hal substituting with a larger forehead, and sometimes he is just as buff and has a normal forehead (first flight). I prefer the latter version.

Yeah, it seems to vary with the artist's depiction. I don't mind what they do, really... even if he is shorter, he is an alien so he could easily be stronger than Hal. I mean, we watched Spock kick the crap out of Kirk in Star Trek and he's not any bigger than him, yet it was completely believable since Vulcans are supposed to be stronger than humans.

Yeah but Spock and Kirk were roughly the same size. Spock wasn't significantly smaller than Kirk.

True; I'm just saying that, if you looked at the two of them, you wouldn't think that Spock could level Kirk so easily.
