X-Men The Official MCU X-Men News and Discussion Thread

Marvel Studios is hardly faithful to the comics. The Infinity Gauntlet Saga in the comics is quite different from the movies.

Except the Secret Wars comic ended with the multiverse being restored.

Really? I thought that was DC's Infinity Crisis. Didn't Secret Wars essentially 'destroy' the old Ultimate Universe and move Miles into the 616?

I think Marvel moved a few things back to status quo too but it's been a while since I've read that era

Sure. But there is zero precedent for the belief that they are going to permanently merge universes together. Especially when they plan on telling alternate universe stories post-Secret Wars.

The old Ultimate universe was restored too with many dead characters being revived.

imo, letting the multiverse stuff to continue beyond Secret Wars is a terrible idea. I'd say let "The Multiverse Saga" properly ends in Secret Wars.
Just like the Infinity Gems story ended post Endgame.

There are still a lot of ideas and stories that can be explored within the scope of Marvel histories, no need to keep relying and milking on multiverse stuff.

You get it friend.

Totally agree.

Uh, the infinity stones were still used after Infinity Saga. They played a heavy role in Marvel Zombies, which came out last month. And the What If series showcased the full power of the infinity stones multiple times.

So that comparison doesn’t work since Marvel never stopped telling stories with the infinity stones. They just stopped making an entire saga about them.
Jackman busting slobs with a twenty something Jean and Ororo will be SO gross.

If they want to do more Deadpool and Wolverine stuff, just have those characters get stuck in the new 616 timeline.
Jackman’s Wolverine isn’t going to be part of the 616 timeline series based on what Ryan Reynolds has said in interviews about the sequel to Deadpool & Wolverine. Sounds like that is going to be another Elseworlds story. He also can’t leave the X-Men universe because he is the anchor of that universe.

Kevin Feige also said he wants unknown actors for the X-Men film to keep the budget low. So no Jackman for those movies.

Marvel Studios' X-Men to kick off The Phoenix Saga! Which would span across phaseven, phaseight and phase 9.

They relegated them to What If? stories in cartoons.

The whole concept of "anchor beings" is stupid to begin with. Scrap it.

What would be the difference if they paid Hugh Jackman a **** ton of money to be in an X-Men movie vs. paying him a **** ton of money to be in a Deadpool sequel? Either way they are paying him a **** ton of money. What difference does it make?

I'm sure it's been said before but I was reading New X-Men recently and they could just "Xorn" Magneto.

I know there's an identity twist involved but disregarding that Magneto could be a Jewish Holocaust survivor thats been kept under suspension somewhere in Germany as basically their "Last Resort" weapon until he escapes, in a modern world, where past abominations are being forgotten and replaced by new abominations, causing him to lash out against all sides, setting him on. A villainous path, but still leaving room for a late game Face turn.

You could cast someone younger for franchise potential and have either an older Xavier, "Younger" Magneto dynamic or even cast a Younger Xavier as well and sort of show how a lifetime can treat two people so differently.

Not true. Cassandra Nova used the time and reality stones with a sling ring in Deadpool & Wolverine. That is how she was able to cross realities.

Even if it was just in cartoons, what difference does that make? They’re still using the stones.

Too late for that.

The difference is that a sequel to Deadpool & Wolverine is likely to make much more money at the Box Office.

You don't need to use Jackman in the X-Men films. Use Dafne Keen. Especially if they're going younger. She would fit in perfectly.
X-23 is a Wolverine clone/copycat, and the endless comparisons and references to Logan are just going to be constant and unavoidable, which I prefer not to see.

Psylocke, Rogue, Storm, Jean, Emma, Shadowcat, Polaris, Dazzler, Jubilee, Sage - these are more interesting characters that have yet to get their due in the movies. There's no need for a Wolverine clone to fill the absence of the original Wolverine, who is still likely to be in the Mcu anyway.

At some point Hugh Jackman needs to realize that is time to move on.

He has been doing these films since year 2000. He was the star of the whole original trilogy, appeared in some of the prequels, had his own trilogy, said goodbye, returned at Marvel Studios for D&W and will likely appear in both Avengers Doomsday and Secret Wars with all MCU heroes......

What does he really have left to explore with the character?

Marvel Studios is doing a full X-Men reboot..... the whole X-Men original cast will say goodbye likely in Secret Wars..... Doesnt Hugh Jackman think he should say goodbye too next to his cast mates? it will be 2027. Come on......

Just let it go and let another younger actor take over and have his moment to shine and get the attention, without the need to share it with you. I feel. Let him have his moment along with all the x-men/wolverine fans that have been waiting for Marvel Studios full reboot. Its...... very selfish, in my honest opinion. Selfish and redundant.

Actually, Kevin Feige confirmed that Hugh Jackman is returning for the sequel to Deadpool & Wolverine, which will feature more X-Men members according to the Hollywood Reporter. So it looks like Marvel/Disney are going to milk the original X-Men cast after Secret Wars.

Marvel Studios actually thinks that the X-Men reboot will make much less money. Hence why they want unknown actors to keep the budget low.
