Isn't that the point? He's writing journal entries. He's essentially reading what he's written.
A fair point. In the case of journal entries I can live with that, but if he sounds like this the entire movie it's going to wear on my nerves.

To be fair, I read Rorschach as more monotone and detached when he spoke, so I acknowledge that part of my aversion is due to that expectation. But doing my best to be open to different interpretations...it still just annoys me. It just feels way too intense to be listening to for two hours.

Am I the only one who still doesn't like the CGI Manhattan and thinks that it's the worst move of Snyder, far worse than killing the squid?
He makes more light than a Christmas tree, for Zod's sake.

Huh? How else do you propose they should of done it? I don't think you could get any better CG than that.

I was too lazy to post my thoughts on Rorschach's voice yesterday, but I guess I'll post them now (since I've read a few opinions on the matter in this thread).

I think Rorschach's voice is perfect. It's exactly how I imagined it way back when I read the graphic novel for the first time (and it's still how I imagine it). The only thing that sucks about it, though, is that the casual moviegoers are going to compare it to Christian Bale's Batman voice. *facepalm*

That is the issue really. If he talks like that throughout the movie then that'll be common criticism from casual audiences simply because of TDK. Their instant reaction will be 'oh god, not again!'

Which is a pity as I have no problem with either voice.

Greengrass was planning on using a reflective body paint on Denzel Washington.

denzel would have had to get into serious shape

and i'm pretty sure these are concepts from the greengrass version

Is it just me, or does Rorschach move kinda funny? He sways back and forth and has kind of a swagger. He sort of bounces around as he walks when he says "Maybe someone's picking off costumed heroes.". That doesn't seem like Rorschach to me. I always envisioned Rorschach as having a more stiff manner and stoic prescence to him, even at his most agile and his most brutal. Meh.

I actually liked that about Rorshach. He has a confidence and swagger about him that I always thought he had in the gn! The way Dan walks in and he's Rorshach is eating in his kitchen all non chalantely, he's definatelly not just angry all the time. I liked it!

Yeah, that is basically who he is, I figured he'd have some oddball mannerisms anyway. Even the most disturbed characters in that universe look at him and are like, "this mother****er is weird."

People *****ing about this trailer are ungrateful. Seriously, how lame can ya'll get? :down

This movie is every bit as faithful as any recent Harry Potter movie.

I actually only meant the first two HP movies, as an example of excessive faithfulness actually hurting the movie. The later HP movies (3rd one especially) don't fall into the same trap. So for Watchmen to be as faithful as, say, Prisoner of Azkaban, would be good. For it to be as faithful as Sorcerer's Stone would be bad. That's what I meant but I guess I wasn't too clear.

Honestly, you might be. Not a knock on you, but that's what it looks like.

I agree that a lot of people lack the perspective that Snyder's work is really far and above anything else we were likely to get by another director (see the Greengrass sketches). But people are entitled to their criticisms.

how are they ungratiful? Everytime a hero movie is made about a book we like we just have to go along and be grateful?

Anyway, not a fan of the voice, always imagined it more monotoned and not that deep. But the trailer aint bad.

Yeah, I would complain too, but the CGI looks good and Manhatten looks life like. Especially when he's on Mars talking to Laurie.
