I think the music really works, especially from 01:47 onwards.
I don't think it is "out of place" talking about Doc Manhattan's FX. It doesn't look good to me, too.
The only scene so far I liked with him is the "leave me alone" one.
The others he's either "sad puppy" or "glowing Schwarzie", or even worse: both.
Zach Snyder Explains Who These "Watchmen" AreThe original [team] we called the Minutemen, as per the graphic novel. We never exactly say whether or not in the more modern version we call them the Watchmen/Crimebusters. We loosely called them Watchmen as more of a the symbolic name, more than anything else.
They made a strange choice with Doc's eye makeup. The edges sag lower than the area near his inner eye and nose area, giving that perpetual "sad puppy" look. If they'd carried the black makeup evenly from edge of the eye to bridge of the nose, he'd have a more "domino mask" effect.

Don't know if this was posted, but in regards to them being called "Watchmen," Devin from CHUD.com asked Snyder himself. Here's the quote:

To be fair, he DOES look like that in the GN:

The one across from AMC Empire 25? I was there last Friday watching the same movie, and the trailer was there.I went to see Quantum of Solace at Times Square today at the Regal there, no trailer.
I actually like it. In the graphic novel the make-up doesn't really do anything for his look, but here it does give an image of a god that "cares" for the world, but ultimately decides to just watch on. His voice in the trailer reflects a soft-spoken demeanor as well.Yeah, but for some reason, it doesn't seem as exaggerated in the comic as it does in the trailer.
It's definitely not a deal breaker for me, but, like Jon1 said, perhaps if they'd taken the makeup above the eyes to the bottom of the eyebrow, it could work better. *shrugs*
I was reading the lyrics to "Take a Bow" by Muse (the second song in the trailer for the VERY uninformed) and noticed they fit the story pretty well (in my opinion):
Corrupt, you corrupt,
and Bring corruption to all that you touch.
Hold, youll behold,
And be holden for all that youve done.
Spell, cast a spell,
Cast a spell on the country you run.
And risk, you will risk,
You will risk all their lives and their souls.
And burn, you will burn,
You will burn in hell, yeah youll burn in hell.
Youll burn in hell, yeah youll burn in hell for your sins.
Ooohhh.
Our freedom's consuming itself,
What we've become is contrary to what we want
Take a bow.
Death, you bring death and destruction to all that you touch.
Pay, you must pay
You must pay for your crimes against the earth.
Hex, feed the hex
Feed the hex on the country you run
And Beg, you will beg
You will beg for their lives and their souls.
Yeah,
Burn, you will burn,
You will burn in hell, yeah youll burn in hell,
Youll burn in hell, yeah youll burn in hell,
Burn in hell, yeah you'll burn in hell for your sins.
I got a question for you guys.. what does the Comedian says, when he says who breaks into his apartment..?
Interesting.. thanks"Just a matter of time, I suppose..."

Now that's how he should look: detached and collected.
