The problem I'm having with the "They're only using the name 'Watchmen' for the trailer" theory is that I can't remember an instance in the GN where Dan or Rorschach said "Watchmen" and they both say it in the trailer so I don't think it's just an edit. I could have a falty memory though. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Doesn't the "waver" go away when he's talking to Long? The waver around the word balloon?

Probably a result of condensing, easier for general audiences to understand, and pretty harmless. Especially when you consider that people who become true fans will grab the novel and learn all the elaborate or not so elaborate nuances that they couldn't squeeze into the movie. :woot:

Yeah it does, I was talking about that earlier. It's debatable as to why, but I like to think of it like a sort of Batman/Bruce Wayne kind of thing. :yay:

I know there is not supposed to be a connection with the name per se, and I'd prefer they didn't call themselves Watchmen, but I don't consider it a terrible change.

yeah i get what your saying, i hope its changed for the movie but well just have to wait and see wont we?

he would have to sound different walter and Rorschach are different people

Watchmen isn't just the trailer. The name of the Crimebusters has been changed to Watchmen for this movie, Patrick Wilson confirmed it himself.

It's a change I dont like, but I've learned to get over it. It's minor enough that i'm not gonna make a big deal out of it, even though it doens't really make sense. I mean, I dont know when in the timeframe of the book people started spraying "Who Watches the Watchmen?", but if it was before the meeting, then why would they choose a group name from a slogan that was anti-supehero? And if it happens afterwards, how would the people even know the group was called Watchmen? The group never really happened. I dont know how anybody would ever really know the name to use it in the slogan.

But like I said, I see why they're doing it, I guess. It's not as bad as previous scripts, which wanted to call the Minutemen the Watchmen, and the Crimebusters the New Watchmen.

Who said this exactly? Was it someone who worked on the film?

I don't have a link, but Nolan did say himself that they digitally altered Bale's voice to make it lower and more raspy sounding.

^ I read that somewhere as well, though I couldn't provide a link. Wonder if bale's pissed that Nolan did that? :)

Hm, Crimebusters being changed to Watchmen doesn't bother me much. That's a change I can totally deal with, though I think it would suck for the people who see the movie first, and then read the graphic novel afterwards.

Goddamn, this trailer excites me. I think that music really works.

The movie can't get here fast enough.

"WHERE IS MY ORIGINAL VOICE?!!"

"I don't know. I swear to God."

"SWEAR TO MEEE!!!"

make me embarrassed as a fan to think that Mr. Antello Blueberry, God bless your soul, is complaining about how 'bright' Dr. Manhattan is.

I know that you have the right. I know that this is for discussion. But there's times when I shake my head in complete awe at some of the topics being discussed here.

Okay, there's "nerd fun" conversations, and there's "What the" conversations. This is a "What the".

"hits the nail on the head" :woot:

nothing against Blueberry, since I think he's a cool poster around these parts.

So here's my review of the trailer: I prefer the teaser. Well..okay, the trailer is missing something and I don't know what it is. I think it's the music choice. My friends made some comments about it; it feels out of place.

I prefer the new trailer due to the more clips thing :oldrazz: oh and the awesome beginning and end
but the Teaser had a better feel music wise so I easily get where your coming from...

Am I the only one who still doesn't like the CGI Manhattan and thinks that it's the worst move of Snyder, far worse than killing the squid?
He makes more light than a Christmas tree, for Zod's sake.

Well, the movie will be out NEXT year. There's still time for improvement.

I agree. I really didn't like the second music choice either. It was jarring compared to the smooth melancholy of the first which bettter suited the mood of the trade if you ask me. I don't like the second trailer as much because of it.

I don't think it is "out of place" talking about Doc Manhattan's FX. It doesn't look good to me, too.

The only scene so far I liked with him is the "leave me alone" one.

The others he's either "sad puppy" or "glowing Schwarzie", or even worse: both.

This music did seem odd at times to me, but in all I found the imagery to be perfect.
