I LOVED IRON MAN, I have the DVD with all the extras, is a great superhero movie from every angle, incredible, amazing, and I can keep going on and on all day. But the beauty of Iron Man is that it dosent look like everything you have seen before. I think Green Lantern should glow on its own green light, not try to look like transformers!!

Having the same feel is not the same thing as looking exactly like it.

I want to see something I havent seen before. Thats why I have problems imagining Hector Hammond with a cheesy big head in a movie thats close to Iron Man. I want to something a little bit darker, more obscure, not so campy, when you people say colorfull characters, star wars and such, I THINK BATMAN AND ROBIN, and I just dont want to see the franchise die in http://images.google.co.cr/imgres?i...128&prev=/images?q=Hector+Hammond&gbv=2&hl=esthe first movie. I want to see something like these:

Green Lantern is about light and hope. It should be bright, colorful and fun, like Iron Man and Star Trek, not dark and somber. Yes, it's not going to be a campy movie like Batman & Robin (Which I like, by the way), but it shouldn't be Matrix-like either.

Iron Man, Star Trek, Star Wars and Transformers are the perfect cues, as I said. They're fun in essence, but have their dark moments (The convoy ambush; Obadiah stealing the Arc Reactor; Nero torturing Captain Pike; The Ice planet landing; The Trash compactor scene; Darth Vader telling Luke he's his father; the Decepticon descent on Earth; Optimus Prime's death and etc.). That's how it should be done, IMHO.

Spot on. If I were to describe the tone of how GL should be, it should be GL's with ST.

For GL I just wanna see bright blue skies but I do understand most of the movie takes place in Space.

Some of the scenes in the movie will take place in the planet OA where GL completes hes trainning to become a Green Lantern, there will also be scenes where the lanterns fight in space.

The first pictures you show are when Hammond is in his latter stages of mutation. His mutation in the comics was always progressive. Even in the Secret Origins run, he looked like this:

But it was implied that he would look more grotesque later on in life.

I hope they go with the Secret Origins look and stay with it throughout. It is way more workable.

you have to keep in mind that the passage of time when Hector got his powers in Secret Origins was kinda short, where as in the movie, it plays out a bit more.

So at the end of the movie, I can see him having a slighter bigger noggin.

Hammond never mutated beyond what you saw in my previous post in "Secret Origins". Let's not get that twisted. Hammond's head swelled to the point where it had to be supported sometime close to or after "Green Lantern: Rebirth", which took place many years after "Secret Origins".

Actually, in Hammond's last appearence in "Secret Origins", locked up in Hangar 44, we see his head growing to his modern look proportions.

Yes i understand duration and the last panel. I still say the early look of the veins and comatose expression is by far the best possible look for Hammond. Even know I wish they had run with it in the comics.

all good points u guys were saying, as for hammonds head deal, i dont know how i would go with it. Sure it would be cool if they did the big head thing but then we have to look at it at a film makers standpoint and what looks good. so doing that could boarderline make it cheesy. Where we go a more mutated viens and what not could look better on screen. What ever they do i am sure it will look good.

The first reaction we should have to Hammond's head is that of disgust. We should be sick at the sight of it not laugh.

I agree with you totally, it shut be something scary, the infection in his head came from the most obscure part of the universe. You cant only get that reaction if the tone of the movie is a little bit more complex, with a solid plot and script, not just effects, action and some laughters. The head looks should reflect the desire for power and reveange, not just a big head for the sake of it.

My Man, the wonder of the motion pictures is that it gives you the posibility to play with space and time. In fact I heard somewhere, that in the movie Hector's brain grow so fast that it breaks he's skull leaving he's brain expose, but I don't know if its true!!! I guess we will have to wait and see.

It sounds interesting, but I was hopping a little bit more in terms of plot and script, there is so much to do with the story, the first contact with human life and it's impact on man kind, the desire for power (Hector) and the desire for order (Sinestro). I just was hopping for something extra, I don't want to see Hector crying over the refection of his father, I think he can be so much more in terms of a villain!!!!!!!!

To be honest, if they just went with Hector with a normal sized head, they have to give him something special visually..so he doesn't end up being generic looking.

That means a good makeup job that can make him look iconic. That's why I think the large head can come into play: it gives him a defining characteristic. They're walking a thin line between something that could be grotesque or something silly, but hopefully the VFX guys will get the job done.

Sure they could do big head, we dont know if they are or arnt. But it could be a bit different cause as campbell has said he doesnt want things to get into cheesy teritory so he could maybe drop a huge head to maybe some growth/deforming poping vines or something.

One detail: [BLACKOUT]In the film, only his brain gets larger, not his entire head. So yeah, it breaches his scalp and gets exposed under his skin.[/BLACKOUT]

It'll be pretty gory alright.

This is PG-13 remember. It can't be too gory.

well with pg 13 rating you can get away with alot of things these days. also more so if the director pushs on the studio on things.
