The 20th anniversary Ds4 will be available for standalone purchase in September. For 5 dollars more than a game.

I'll probably get it. I need a new one anyway.

Ok. Would it be better to get the 500 GB model and then just upgrade the HDD myself?

eh, I mean, I dunno how much the average 1TB HD goes for but if I were you I'd just get the model that comes with it. But it's up to you.

it depends on how cheap you can find a 1TB hdd and how soon you want a PS4.

if you want a PS4 now, you'll be paying $400. then $50 or more to buy a 1TB hdd. ( I bought my hdd for around $70 last year. ).

but, if they do release a 1TB model for $400, then that would obviously be cheaper and then you wouldn't have to upgrade the hdd yourself.

so, if you don't need or want a PS4 right now, I'd wait to see if they release a 1TB and see how much it costs.

if a 1TB model costs $400, I'd just wait to get that.

Thanks for the info fellas. Yeah, I'm not getting a PS4 until this holiday season so it might be more cost effective to get the 500 GB model at the reduced price and then spend extra to get a larger HDD. I'll just have to wait and see what the reductions are for the prices and if/what the new bundles will consist of. I'd love to get a bundle that comes with a game or two and then maybe an extra controller. That'd be sweet. Though I may also wait for an Uncharted Bundle too depending on how long the price drop will last for and whether or not I'd be able to pass up the holiday deals. I'm also anxious to play that new SW:Battlefront and Arkham Knight. Both those look amazing.

yes. I would say this holiday would be a good time to get a PS4.

you'll probably get more for your money, too, this holiday since the 1TB model should be released by then and most likely will go for the current $400.
Yeah, I was super excited when I heard the rumors of a 1TB version being released soon.

My PS3's blu-ray drive broke, and that pretty much forced me to go towards digital, and I really prefer it a lot more htan I did before. Yes it's annoying to download games over and over again, but I can play them no matter what and that just makes more sense, that I may choose to stay away from discs altogether from now on.

If you're a regular gamer and going to get PS Plus and free games every month. I would get the 500GB (can wait till you're close to filling it up if you want) and then buy an external for whatever size you need (should have a better idea of your size requirements by then). If you're a more casual PS gamer and not expecting to buy too many games I guess it might be possible to get away with 1TB total.

external hard drives cant be used to store games

Is that just for PS4 or PS3 too? I think I'm misunderstanding something. I transferred all my 360 arcade games and GWG retail games to my external drive recently. The rest of the space is just for retail DLCs as I haven't bought any games digitally. Also haven't tried with X1 yet.

both. You can back the entire system onto an external but you cant run games off of that or pick and choose which games are backed up and restored

I guess I haven't actually tried running a game from the external yet. Will try tonight (on 360, maybe it's different?). Damn that's annoying if so. :csad:

word. I would get it too if I didn't recently buy a black one. Although it's been acting pretty wacky. I dunno if it's the game or the controller

but not all sata hard drives are the same yeah? I mean, I hear some may be less reliable than others

np & I guarantee there'll be a bundle on Black Friday. Last year it was gta5 & tlour (two of the best games from the year prior) at no extra cost. And I think there's a good chance the uncharted trilogy will be a part of it a bundle this year

Having trouble connecting my ps4 to my laptop to play videos. When I click on the laptop it says it can't connect. Do I need to do something on my laptop to give it permission? I tried adding a device but it didn't recognize any new devices

Alright so I figured out how to set up the DLNA and get my ps4 connected but now when I look in the folders I see the folders for my music but every folder only has 1 track. All the folders are there so this is weird. I have all the permissions set up on windows media player and I can see all my jusic there even though I don't use that. Granted I do have over 400 GB of music. Also the only video I have in my video folder is the last episode of Game of Thrones in mp4 format but it shows no videos when I try to pull it up on my ps4. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong here?

So, any special deals for a PS4 with Arkham Knight?

My PS3 (6 years old) is still holding up and I'm not a huge gamer outside of NHL/Tiger/Batman/GTA and now Battlefront... Haven't had a need to upgrade yet.

I don't know about any deals, but there is a bundle.

Capcom Is Developing A New Engine For Its Own Project Morpheus Games. June 16, 2015 . 5:13pm

Capcom is showing off a tech demo at E3 of its new in-development engine made for Project Morpheus games.

Capcom is developing a new game engine specifically for its future titles that will be released on Sony’s upcoming virtual reality headset Project Morpheus.

The engine renders visuals at 1080p HD and at 60 frames per second. It also supports Project Morpheus’s 120 frames per second output. The name of this game engine hasn’t been decided upon or, at least, not been made public yet. However, Capcom is showcasing a tech demo at its E3 booth on PlayStation 4 that is acting as a sample of the technical achievements of this game engine.

The tech demo is titled “KITCHEN” as it drops you inside a disturbing kitchen that Capcom reckons “provides the unsettling backdrop for a tense scenario that draws players into a hyper-realistic virtual world.” This effect is helped along by the tech demo’s incorporation of DTS’s latest surround sound tech, the Headphone: X, to provide its auditory realism that apparently matches the high-quality of the visuals.

Capcom says that it plans to use this technology along with “advanced photo scan and visual effects tools to bring highly realistic characters and environments to life, delivering exciting new gameplay experiences for fans.”

Payback? mS did that to themselves. It was their ideas, and their ideas that got 'meh's

when he says "I won't say never" that's basically leaving the door open right there.

Sony may publicly say they have no plans for BC, but you can bet behind the scenes they are looking at ways to make it happen.

if it proves to be successful with MS and leads to a boost in sales for the X1, and if PS4 owners stay vocal and keep at them, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony makes it happen to the PS4.

that being said, I'd rather they devote their resources to improving/redesigning the current UI just like the X1 UI will be getting a makeover.

We'll get backwards compatibility at the same time we get to change our PSN ID Names. :o
