I've seen you call it a game changer several times since it was announced, so I guess we're even

say what you will of MS, but they have done a much better job at constantly updating and improving the X1 with new features on a frequent and consistent basis.

if nothing else, it gives off the appearance that they are listening to customer feedback and incorporating the features that customers have asked for.

And Sony hasn't? Good god they released a media player for you and a remote.

I really have not had any problems with the UI. Nothing special but it does what I need it to.

After two years... Are we supposed to be thankful they did added something that the PS4 should have had from day one?

And they're not even making the remote, they just gave a third party permission to make one.

Ah you're right. We should have them take away those features so we can continue to just complain about it.

Man, come on. Microsoft breaks out backwards compatibility, and we're supposed to be thrilled about getting a rudimentary media player, and an off-brand remote?

And Sony brought it large with a bunch of game announcements. Which is what I bought a PS4 for. I did not buy it to go back and play my PS2 games or PS3 ones. I played them already. I bought that expensive machine to play new games on the PS4.

I'm not saying BC is a bad feature, but it's not what I bought this system for. I bought it for things like Dark Souls III, not Dark Souls.

So I will get thrilled about all the games they announced.

Well, obviously I bought one any way, but the ability to play PS2 games...

My PS2 library will probably never be surpassed in quality (or size).

Having no backwards compatibility is fine (at least for PS3 games), but it's clear that Microsoft is doing a hell lot more for its customers.

Because they are losing sales compared to the PS4. They are trying to do anything to get back to the top. Not a bad thing to do, but really as some have said before, there is not a great demand for BC. I don't think the general audience really cares. They want new games, not to constantly go back like some do.

Most updates amount to "increased stability" but theres been a lack of significant additions since launch, which is quite different with how MS has handled things

Oh yeah, they are. Honestly though I have not had any issues with PS4's firmware. It's funny because Xbox fans complained all the time how the PS3 was constantly getting updated but the 360 hardly did. Now it's flipped and it's great that it's so.

But again, MS has to. They screwed up so bad at launch they are trying to win back the trust. They've done a good job no doubts. But it's not like Sony is degrading what it's doing. They are making great games for a system that works. I don't need a lot of features. The controller is a great thing to finally get, as well as the media player nice little additions but not needed for what I primarily do with this system. Which is play new games.

Sony has grown complacent, at least as far as the console itself is concerned. Thankfully not so much with securing games.

And that is the most important thing. Though I think they finally listened about media that was sadly 99% of this threads conversation. So clearly they are not fully complacent and are listening.

But yes PS4's are for playing video games. And they are the best at that.

I really don't think it's a matter of being complacent or lazy or whatever, I just think it's a tactical decision. They've got a strong lead, so they don't necessarily have to worry about addressing every little minor quibble their fans have, or repairing so many burned bridges like Microsoft does.

That's not the right mentality to have imo. Just because you're in the lead does not mean you shouldn't continue being proactive about your decisions and progressive in your ideas.

Well I finally picked up a PS4 yesterday for Arkham Knight. It's the Last of Us bundle of course. Best Buy even gave me a deal where upon buying it I got Chappie on blu-ray (giant who cares) and a code to download The Order: 1886 for free. I am digging The Order. I'm a big history buff so to see this kind of world is neat and it is so cinematic. Yes, I have read the reviews but it doesn't deter me as I had always planned to get this game.

It'd be nice if Sony or some other company would release different color touchpads. I've had the controller apart and I think I could switch the touchpad if someone would just offer them for sale.
