what software update? The PS4's firmware or MKX? I dont see why you cant just download and install either from your PS4. You shouldnt need an external for either of that unless you switched HDDs. In the vent that an extenal is needed, it would have to be formatted in FAT32 or exFAT to work

Seeing as I get the message when I try to enter the PS Store or use the internet from the PS4, my guess is PS4.

That last bit goes over my head, I'm not really that tech-savvy

Hi guys, so I'm having some issues with my PS4. I tried to get my DLC with my MKX LE, I need a software update, it says to save the update to a USB then plug it in and put it on the PS4. Shouldnt an external hard drive work? I tried and when I did, it gave me some kind of notification(but I couldnt read it because there's a bar of dead pixels on the only TV with an HDMI plug in). Any idea what Im doing wrong?

if it's telling you to update your PS4, you should be able to do that over the internet.

my cousin let me stay in his apartment for 3 weeks while he left the country. he doesn't do video games at all but he was amazed 7 (!) years ago while watching me play Uc2. so as a thank you gift I got him the nathan drake bundle.

You need to google how to format your external to either of those formats with whatever operating system you are using. The standard format, NFTS, isnt recognized by the PS4 so if you are putting firmware on a NFTS-formatted HDD, it wont work

well, it depends on what games you like. what are you interested in?

also, keep in mind, pretty much every single player still needs to be connected to the internet to download patches and updates, even if you don't want to tough the online multi player.

but, here are some suggestions.

Thanks guys, already sounded out Tomb Raider and Diablo 3. Along with FIFA 16 of course and the latest Resident Evil and Metal Gear Solid games.

Fighting games, action games, RPG's and the Fifa's are what I am mainly interested in.

Diablo 3 is a very fun game. indeed, it's probably the most fun I've had playing this gen.

do you like JRPGs or more Western RPGs?

if you like JRPGs, then there's Tales of Zestiria out now. Plus, Tales of Berseria, Star Ocean 5, Persona 5, and Final Fantasy XV all supposed to be coming out this year. And all of those, except FF XV, are PS exclusives!

For Western RPGs, there's Witcher III and Dragon Age Inquisition. Though, I'm a bit hesitant to recommend Dragon Age Inquisition because I've been severely disappointed with it. But, you may still enjoy it.

as for fighting games, there's Guilty Gear Xrd which is a PS exclusive. However, I believe an updated version called Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator is coming out this year.

There's also BlazBlue out on PS4, though, again, I think there might be an updated version coming out soon.

For action games, there's also Gravity Rush Remastered coming out in February I believe, along with Gravity Rush 2 coming out this year.

a lot of people liked until dawn last year. it was an unexpected hit and it's got some of the best graphics on Ps4

I'm excited for the FF 7 remake, as well. However, that excitement was tempered a bit when they announced that they are going for the "episode" approach - meaning they are going to divide and release the game over multiple chapters or episodes. So, there's going to be a Part 1, then Part 2, etc.

so, we'll see.......

as for FF XV, I've been waiting for that game since it was first announced as FF Versus XIII as a PS3 exclusive. unfortunately, the story has changed a bit since then.

the current story has you control one character, Prince Noctis, while the AI controls his 3 guy friends, as you set out to save the kingdom from an invading force or something.

so, the party will be all male ( boo! ), even though there will be strong female characters in key roles ( who may join your party as a guest ).

also, the combat is more "action oriented" as opposed to the traditional turn base of FF games of yore.

yes, Until Dawn is a horror game. not my cup of tea, so I don't really know much about it.

and I'd LOVE for them to do a new Parasite Eve game as well as a new Legacy of Kane game.

That sounds a bit strange and worrying about FF7 but we will see, worrying though.

yeah. it just doesn't make much sense with VII because it's not like we don't already know the story......lol.

but, they've said they want each episode to feel and have as much content as a full game. That's good.

however, does that mean they will charge us the full $60 for each episode? If there are going to be 3 or 4 or how many episodes, you'd be paying around $200 or more to play the full story - for a story we already know. That's troublesome and what I'm worried about.

and yeah, it's a shame we don't have new Parasite Eve and Legacy of Kain games.

I think there was supposed to be a Legacy of Kain MMO or something, but that got scrapped.

oh, and speaking of Parasite Eve, I heard some say in the initial trailer for the FF VII Remake, you can spot a billboard with Aya Brea on it. so I guess she lives on in that form.

oh, and there was a 3rd game in the Parasite Eve series, or more of a spiritual successor, called The 3rd Birthday.

unfortunately, it was only released for the PSP portable system. shame they never remastered that for the PS3, though.
