4k blu ray player and 4k streaming for Netflix/Amazon Prime etc are plenty. If they do that and noone else does I'll be getting this. Saves me buying a separate device like the PS3 and PS2 did.

Do you have a 4K TV? I may grab one next year.. If I do.. Maybe I'll grab the PS4K with it.

I still say.. This will "extend" ps4's life.. Even if it's only media.

I tried the remote play on my PC and it was terrible. The streaming was really bad and it looked like a pixelated YT video. I was in the same room as my PS4 so I cant imagine what it would be like from outside the home

I haven't tried the mac version yet but I can tell you remote play in general can be on and off. sometimes when I did it on my vita it was absolutely flawless, and sometimes was lagged like there was no tomorrow, even when I'm home.

my coworker tried the Mac version at work and it was perfectly fine. mind you we work in downtown Manhattan and his Ps4 is all the way in the BX

Yes. The media will be a big deal I think at the later part of the console's life so I think they have the right idea (just hope they execute it properly).

just tried out the remote play, madd fuzzy coz, 720p...but, I wonder if there is any input lag there. could be a latency or it could be placebo.

this will definitely be a very interesting E3.

it seems Sony, MS, and Nintendo will all have some new hardware to reveal, be it the PS4.5 or PS4K, X1 Slim or X1.5, and the NX.

I am really, really pulling for a concrete Persona 5 release date this E3.

Yeah its pretty bad. I tried it on my laptop and anything above 540p and 30fps is unplayable....and I don't want to have to play on those settings.

Atlus generally doesn't do much for E3, so I wouldn't expect it. They'll probably just do their own thing later in the year.

Still hate the idea of a PS4.5, would rather they wait 3 years and release the PS5 and not split the consumer base.

Just read this on ign, rumored specs for the ps4k, apparently codenamed Neo

http://m.ign.com/articles/2016/04/19/rumor-playstation-45-codenamed-neo-specs-revealed

hmmm......now I kind of want the official name to be called Neo......lol.

I really hope Sony or the retailers offer a generous upgrade offer for us existing PS4 owners. I'm talking $200-$250 trade in credit.

if they do, I can see myself upgrading to the Neo, especially if MS doesn't answer with a souped up X1. and provided the Neo's benefits don't only work with 4K displays.

and if MS doesn't answer with their own upgraded X1, then the visual fidelity and performance gap between the PS4 and X1 will just further increase.

if given the choice, who would want to buy the X1 version of a multiplat game ( or even own an X1 ) if the PS4 becomes even more graphically and performance superior?

and if Nintendo releases the NX with specs that surpass the current PS4 or rival the Neo version, then MS will really feel left behind if they don't upgrade themselves.

E3 will definitely be interesting this year.

If you read the article you would see that Sony is taking special measures to ensure that exact thing doesn't happen.

exactly. People need to relax about it. Its not that big a deal.

To be honest I still don't think it's a great idea in general, but especially because if you read carefully there's still wiggle room for devs to screw original PS4 owners by making those versions of the games perform badly. Still though, all of these policies are significantly better than I was fearing. Hopefully they're not in flux and hold true to the final product.

Yeah. Have fun explaining that this isn't a giant middle finger to early adopters. "we're not splitting the user base!" Right.. You're just giving late bloomers a better version of the game.

I really, reeeeeeeally hope this bites them in the ass.

I really just hope it's bs, as unlikely as it seems at this point.

If the power of the PS4K isn't all that significant, then it's very easy to explain. Just look to the New 3DS to original 3DS models. Some games ran a little better, had some enhancements, and whatnot, but the New 3DS didn't make the older models obsolete, and only had a grand total of 1 exclusive retail title, and a handful of indie and VC titles that are only playable on N3DS. The older models are still perfectly viable, hell, Nintendo even still does bundles with older models.

And people were saying this same ****. 'Oh my god, Nitendo is pulling a Gameboy Color, our old 3DSs might as well be in landfills, Nintendo is ****ing our wives and making us watch.' It's going to be the same damn thing just with consoles. They aren't going to split the userbase on any significant level.

as far as the rumors of the Ps4K go, I'd say it's overall been pretty divisive with half the hardcore community on board and the other half livid, but either way I think the reaction will be much "louder" on the livid end than when the new 3ds was revealed. that's what i am predicting but i could be wrong.

That's because half the supposed hardcore community is expecting this thing to basically be a PS5 and make the current model worthless, which there's no real reason to expect that, but there's really no talking about it since people seem determined to believe that.

i don't think it'll be like a whole nother console, but better specifications are still better specifications. games will be noticeable better on the new Ps4 than on the OG.
