I think they're stopping support for a lot of earlier Windows versions.

Appear Offline

PS4_04-06-16_001.jpg

On your Profile tab, we’ve added a new option called ‘Online Status.’ From here, you can choose to ‘Appear Offline.’ This could be useful if you want to play games or watch movies without your friends knowing you’re online. You can designate if you would like to appear offline when you log-in or at any time from your Profile, or by holding down the PS Button on DualShock 4 to bring up the Quick Menu.

Friend Online Notification

Now you can choose to get notified when your friends come online. To receive notifications, select a player on your friends list, press Options, and select ‘Notify When Online.’

User Scheduled Event

On the Events tab, we’re adding the ability to schedule gameplay sessions with your friends. Just select ‘Create Event,’ and you’ll be able to make an invitation for an upcoming gameplay session. Choose the day, time, game, and send it off to your friends. When your event starts, users who registered will automatically be added to a party so you can start playing right away.

You can also share an event to a group, or a community that you’re a member of. Once shared, the event will be sent as a message, or posted to a community wall, and members can register from there.

Play Together

Grand Kingdom character classes detailed

Published 8 hours ago. 14 comments.

Melee, Ranged, Magic, and Specialist units.

NIS America has released new details and screenshots of Grand Kingdom, its upcoming strategy RPG from Spike Chunsoft and developer MonoChro, introducing the game’s class types and classes.

In Grand Kingdom, there are three basic class types that operate on a a bit of a “rock-paper-scissors” mechanic: Melee, Ranged, and Magic units. There are also Specialist units that fulfill more specific roles in battle.

Get the details below.
Magic Units

Grand-Kingdom_04-05-16_002.jpg

Magic units have medium attack range, and use ranged attacks that can affect multiple enemies. Some of their more powerful skills must be charged before they can be used, leaving them vulnerable to disruption from an enemy’s ranged attack.

  • Witch – A unit that wields powerful magic that can affect a wide area. The Witch has many skills she can use to attack multiple enemies, but she must be careful not to accidentally hit her allies too.
  • Shaman – A unit that draws upon her life force to cast spells. The Shaman can potentially be a boon to enemies and a bane to her allies, as the detrimental effects of her curses do not distinguish between friend or foe.
  • Arcanist – A unit whose magical conjurations strike enemies with stunning accuracy. The Arcanist can also create magical zones that affect the entire battlefield, making him adept at support as well as offense.
Melee Units
Grand-Kingdom_04-05-16_003.jpg

Melee units are characterized by their high attack and defense, and specialize in close combat. They also have the ability to Guard, which negates all damage up to a certain point. Melee units have low magic defense, so caution is recommended when facing enemy Magic units.

  • Fighter – A well-rounded unit that is capable of defending allies and cutting their way into the heart of an enemy’s formation. A Fighter’s various skills make him a welcome addition to any battle situation.
  • Lancer – A spear-wielding unit that uses his deadly reach to inflict massive damage to enemies on the back lines. Encased in steel armor, Lancers have high defenses but are lacking in mobility.
  • Noble – A unit that uses a sword to unleash consecutive strikes against the enemy. Their offensive skills allow them to attack whole groups of enemies. However, a Noble forgoes the use of a shield in exchange for increased combat potential, so situational awareness is especially important to her.
  • Blacksmith – A unit that wields a massive greathammer. Against formations that contain many objects, the Blacksmith’s true potential is unleashed when she “brings down the hammer” to demolish enemy objects and weaponry.
  • Rogue – A unit capable of cloaking herself to infiltrate enemy formations unseen. With her powerful skills and high mobility, a Rogue can take out Ranged units in one hit. However, due to her low defenses, she must wait patiently for an opportune moment to strike.
Ranged Units
Grand-Kingdom_04-05-16_004.jpg

Ranged units can attack from anywhere on the battlefield. With their extended attack range, they can disrupt enemies at the back of the formation who are charging magical attacks. However, Ranged units have low defense, so it’s important to position them such that can’t be dragged into close combat.

  • Hunter – An ace sniper that can hit faraway targets with uncanny precision. Whether raining down arrows on the battlefield or defending against magical enchantments, the Hunter has no shortage of tricks up the sleeves of his signature trenchcoat.
  • Gunner – A unit that uses a gun to attack enemies lined up in a row. Different bullets can make his attacks produce different effects. But in Resonail, guns are rare and ammunition is even rarer, so it’s important that the Gunner makes every shot count.
Specialist Units

Grand-Kingdom_04-05-16_005.jpg
Specialist units don’t quite fit into any of the other three roles in battle. These units have individualized abilities that can be a great asset in battle, but their specialized nature affords little room for flexibility.

  • Medic – A unit that uses vials and flasks to treat injuries and negative ailments. The Medic even has vials filled with acid and poison she can use to defend herself.
  • Challenger – A unit that throws and places explosive barrels to scatter enemies to the wind. The Challenger’s chivalrous spirit makes him go after enemies with reckless abandon. But more often than not, he ends up blowing himself up in the process.
  • Dragon Mage – The Dragon Mage is a versatile unit that can switch between using long-range magic attacks, and entering the fray on her dragon mount to unleash fearsome melee attacks. In exchange for the power she brings, the Dragon Mage is the only unit who occupies two spaces in a formation instead of one.
Grand Kingdom is due out for PlayStation 4 and PS Vita both physically and digitally on June 21 in North America and June 17 in Europe.

It's way past time to upgrade
Do you have either 8 or 10? Which one would you recommend if you do? I'm fine with my set-up as is and I'm always nervous of updating to something new like that ha.

man this is so awesome...but kinda defeats my purpose of owning a vita

Sony are slowly but surely ruining console gaming for me. I don't know why, but every major firmware update seems to f**k something up on my end. First it was update 2.40, I think, not sure. After that, my PS4 wouldn't play any sounds anymore. So I've been playing with a headsest 24/7 since then.

Now we got update 3.50. I have a monitor, and on that monitor I got my PC, PS4 and XOne hooked up. Well, they are hooked up to a little box, that allows me to switch between input sources. There has never been an issue, ever. But now my screen stays black when I switch between PC and PS4. So basically, when I play PS4, that's it, I have to play PS4. No switching back and forth between PC and console.

Since you play on a monitor isn't there a way to plug the optical out into some kind of sound system you use along with your PC?

Sorry to hear about that. Since this update is new you should definitely keep an eye out for other users in pointing this out to see if there's an easy fix somewhere.

damn, that sucks Nathan. If it makes you feel any better, I feel horrible about this Ps4K stuff. Might make me quit console gamign and thus gaming altogether.

I have both (across 2 different pcs) and I would say 10 definitely.

I had 8.1 and upgraded to 10. The only thing that kept me for the longest time was MS dropping Windows Media Center but some people online found a way to install it. 10 is free; 8 isnt. Both OSs are great but most will say that 10 is better and I'd agree. MS got rid of all that tablet-like interface (which can be ignored in 8.1) but its not even included in 10, so its more like an evolution of 7. I've never run into any compatibility issues with either OS as anything that will work in 7 should theoretically work with those.

If you do decide to upgrade to 10, you can revert back to 7, but you only have a month to do that downgrade

Thanks for the info, I'll probably make the upgrade this weekend. I'm always of the mindset "If it ain't broke don't fix it", like my last update to my phone with the Lollipop update has completely abused my battery and I wish I could go back.

And the way I have all my shortcuts and folders set up on my current PC with Windows 7, I don't want to update it and then completely have to redo everything or deal with slower performance, unless these updates won't give you those kinds of hassles.

Boo, made the upgrade to Windows 10 and now I have to figure out why my videos have like a 20sec delay when being played locally or online. It comes and goes and very annoying. There's a few other bugs I've noticed too that I see other users have as well and I'm not gonna go back to 7 just yet but I hope I can sort it out as my PC was running fine on 7 (and shut off last night by itself for some reason too).

Thought this was quite interesting on the PS4K

http://www.valuewalk.com/2016/04/playstation-4-5-release-date-specs/PlayStation 4.5:
What Will Sony Include In Next Gen Console?

This bit's quite relevant to the points some of you have been making:

Another possibility is that the PlayStation 4.5 could be viewed as an evolved model of the existing PS4. While Sony must justify the existence of the PlayStation 4.5, it is also important to note that the corporation is in something of a quandary.

The incentives for Sony to produce this more powerful console are obvious, with the consumer electronics giant wishing to support both the 4K resolution standard and its forthcoming PlayStation VR headset. But the existing 40 million user base for the PlayStation 4 cannot be abandoned completely, and thus Sony has some tricky decisions to make with the makeup of the PlayStation 4.5.

This is particularly significant because Sony is in an extremely strong position in the present console generation. The PlayStation 4 has enjoyed a significant lead over the Xbox One since pretty much day one of this console generation, and there is no need for the Japanese corporation to take risks at this time. And the production of such a state-of-the-art PlayStation 4.5 could necessitate such a risk.

Manufacturing a PlayStation 4.5 that differs too greatly from the existing PlayStation 4 would result in developmental resources being segregated. This would run the risk of resulting in a demarcation between the software quality achievable for the two Sony consoles. Sony surely cannot risk compromising the standard of games released for the PlayStation 4, particularly considering the fact that the PlayStation 4.5 may never achieve the same level of installed user base.

I feel more and more this is all a situation where everything is getting blown out of proportion, and the actual advancement of this PS4K or whatever really isn't nearly as big as many are making out, which will make the rage around it all the funnier when it releases and very little actually changes in the console market afterward.

it will be quite a goddamn relief if that is true

yeah. the more I think about this, the more I think there are just too many risks for Sony to introduce some drastic upgrade with the PS4.5.

it's not good for their existing customer base and now you're hearing developers complain about it too.

developing two "tiers" of game quality/performance will just fracture their base and create too much ill will.

at best, I think the PS4K or 4.5 or whatever will just help "optimize" games for 4K displays and thus won't really affect those who don't own a 4K display.

so, it will be a narrow, niche upgrade.

hopefully.........

I hope that's true. 4K media streaming and up rezing 1080P to 4k.. That's fine. Just don't be corky *****ebag Sony and go full on idiot with it. They've been known to do that.
