That live orchestra was killer. What a way to start a show.

very excited for RE7, Batman vr [although I didn't pre-order it, a friend did], Crash remastered, Spider-Man, Days Gone, and the Reedus game. GOW looks great too, but i have never played the others so idk if i'll get it.

So this has been bugging me for a while...is there a way to get rid of the apps that redirects you to download them in the PS Store?

I don't want to start a console war but Sony's press conference made me proud to own a PS4. Xbox One not so much lol. Now don't get me wrong I love my Xbox but Sony's conference was just so damn good.

chatter going around on the web is that Neo will still release in 2016.

I hope so. I'm really looking forward to own a PS4 and I was hoping that would be Neo.

Andrew Goldfarb has been talking about Sony doing a PS4 (current) add on that would spoof it up to Neo specs.. To appease current ps4 owners at a more reasonable price (99-150). Obviously it's just his theory.. But he's gone fairly in depth on it on Podcast Beyond.. And, I kind of hope he's right.

Is that a recent podcast or an old one bc I recal him saying that a few weeks ago and when he did, it made no sense. The PS4 wasnt built for that. It really doesnt have a port to add some attachment, like the PS2 did. The could build the NEO with futureproofing in mind but not the current models. Its too late for that

I'm eager to hear concrete, official info about the Neo, too.

I want to know when it's coming out, its price, its specs, and whether or not it will offer any performance/visual boost for games on a non 4K tv.

If, like the Scorpio, it's primarily designed around owning a 4K tv, or owning a PS VR, then I may just skip the Neo for now and get an X1 S. Then, some years down the road when I do get a 4K tv, then I'll upgrade to the Scorpio or Neo.

If, however, they come out and clearly state that the Neo will give a performance/visual boost to ALL games, even on non 4K tvs, then I might just upgrade to the Neo this year.

Hope we get official info by August, because I do really want to get that X1 S. but it would be nice to have more info about the Neo so I can make a better informed decision.

before MS officially announced the S and Scorpio, an idea I had in my head about what I'd ideally like to see from the Slim would be that the S is "modular" and you'd be able to add some kind of docking/expansion unit to it to beef it up to the Scorpio. That way, S owners would be able to add on and upgrade their consoles to the Scorpio without having to buy a whole new console.

but, alas, that did not come to pass......lol.

and I just read another article which added that November is the rumored release month for Neo.

ok, and yet another article I'm reading that's suggesting that the Neo will actually come in 2 different models, and also sheds light on the possible price for the Scorpio. Of course, take all of this with a grain of salt.

http://www.gamepur.com/feature/2339...formance-ridiculously-expensive-possible.html

So, it seems there could a less powerful Neo model shipped this year to counter the X1 S. Price for this less powerful Neo is $499 - though Sony wants to get that down lower it seems.

A more powerful Neo will ship next year with 2 GPUs for 5.5 teraflops of power, bringing it closer to the Scorpio's specs. This Neo will cost $599, which seems to be the projected price for the Scorpio.

So, if these rumors are true, we could be looking at a less powerful Neo console released this year for $500 and a more powerful Neo next year to directly compete with Scorpio, both priced at $600.

Honestly, if there will indeed be 2 Neo models, less powerful this year and more powerful next year, I'm really not sure what to think.

Why bother releasing the less powerful Neo this year? To capitalize on the PS VR this fall?

And if high end Neo and Scorpio both will be $600 consoles at launch, then I feel more confident not getting either at launch and waiting a few years until the price drops down to at least $400.

I doubt it and seems more speculative than anything. 3 different models of the PS4 on the market is confusing and Sony is going to have a hard time selling that. The PS4 is selling twice as good as the Xbox. It doesnt need a system to counter the S. Its current model already does that

I agree.

there's really no need for Sony to do a "Neo Lite" this year, only to release the "true" more powerful Neo next year.

As you said, that just confuses the market, both for current owners looking to upgrade and for potential customers.

unless, of course, this "Neo Lite" isn't really part of the Neo lineup but more just a revision of the current PS4 to offer stuff like 4K video playback and HDR just like the X1 S.

I could sort of see them do that.

Or, just release the more powerful Neo this year and be done with it.

I hope so,I need a PS4 after that E3.

ha. I feel the same way, except for the X1. lol

I rewatched both conferences over the past few days, and I'll have to admit that my initial impression still stands. I liked the MS conference a bit more as I find myself more interested in their games lineup and their Windows 10 ecosystem integration.

If I didn't own either console, I'd probably be leaning more towards the X1 after this E3, especially with that Slim reveal.

with all that being said, I still give the PS4 an overall advantage because it has all the exclusive JRPGs, fighting games, and overall more variety of games. It's just, none of that was specifically highlighted in Sony's E3 conference.

plus, what interest and excitement I have for the X1 S is immediately tempered by the announcement of the Scorpio. Which is why I think it was probably not the best strategy for MS to announce both consoles at the same time, because it sends a confusing message to consumers about which console to get. Never mind all the talk and backtracking Spencer and others did in the following days about the Scorpio and the S and who they are for and what they can do and all that.

I think Sony runs the risk of sending consumers mixed/confusing messages, too, especially if they do go for a 2 tiered approach with the Neo ( a lite version and more powerful version ).

If the Neo is really what it's rumored to be, the confusion isn't going to matter. All PS4 games will play on either the vanilla or Neo. The Neo really isn't that big of an upgrade from the vanilla PS4. The Scorpio itself is different, since MS has said they will allow the possibility of exclusive Scorpio games, despite also framing it as a console revision aimed at enthusiasts. As long as Sony keeps the plans that are rumored, then they won't have any issues. People just want to overthink what the Neo actually is.

Yep, I fell into the OH NO NEO quickly.. But the more I read about it.. Understood it and calmed down... I realized that it's not a big deal at all. The internet makes things worse than they are.. While I'll get Neo (not sure if launch or after Christmas.. ) I don't think it's anything anyone is going to need. I don't even think it's going to be that big of a deal with VR.

Speaking of VR.. My wife told me to go preorder it for Father's Day.. Unfortunately I can't due to it not being up.. But hopefully that changes.

well, the more we hear official concrete info the better.

The main thing I care about is whether or not I as a 1080p hdtv owner even needs to care about the Neo.

speaking of the orchestra, it would have been sublime if they had shown FF VII Remake or FF 12 Remaster or else a non pop/rock version of that FF XV trailer during their conference.

FF has some memorable game music and it would have been great to hear the orchestra play some of that.

You really don't. House said in an interview that it's built for 4K TV owners. I'll try to find it.
