I finally got a PS4! I got the Uncharted Bundle at Target for 15% off using their Cartwheel app. The best deal I could find since it came out to below $299, which is the lowest I expect to see this drop for Black Friday. My only disappointment is now I'll need to get a 2TB drive in a few weeks since no 1TB standalone was announced.

So what do I need to know as I get started? I'm already planning on getting a second controller, as well as different thumbsticks. And I already have a few good games to start out with. Is there anything else I may need?

hey, congrats and great deal!!! :woot:

What's your PSN ID so I can add you to my friends list?

What games did you get with it?

And what else are you looking for?

Other than setting the console up, I think you're good to go.

Download the Media Player app if you want to play media files from a USB thumb drive.

And speaking of a USB thumb drive, you'll need one to backup your save files when you go to upgrade to a bigger hdd.

You'll also need the thumb drive to save the latest firmware update on and you'll use that when you upgrade the hdd.

actually, here are the official instructions for upgrading an hdd:

I finally snagged the Arkham Knight Season Pass/Game Bundle, it was $71 after the sale and my 20% off coupon from my new PS4 last month.

My PSN ID is Antsman3441, SpideyVille.

Thanks, my PSN name is SpideyVille, just like my user name here.

Well, it came with the Uncharted Collection. I already had Ac: Unity and Saint's Row IV/Gat Out of Hell because I bought those weeks ago on sale from Gamefly. And sadly, I only thought about downloading free PS+ games a a few months ago so the only "big games" I had ready from that was Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and Injustice.

And what else are you looking for?
Well, my list as of now is:

Arkham Knight, AC: Syndicate, Borderlands Collection, Far Cry 4, GTA V, The Last of Us, Tomb Raider:DE, WWE 2k16, NBA 2K16, The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4.

I also want to playthrough Sleeping Dogs and Watch Dogs again, although I'm not sure if I'll buy those unless they're really cheap.

Thanks. I already have a 1TB external drive that I had formatted to transfer "large files" from my computer to my PS3, so I am hoping/assuming that will still work?

Right now, I'm just waiting for a price drop on the 2TB drive that I've had my eye on.If I can get that for a little less than $80, I would be greatly happy knowing I paid $400 in total for a 2TB PS4.

great!! I'll send you a friend request on your new PS4 later tonight ( I'll let you know it's from X Knight from the Hype ).

and that's a good list of starting games, and a good wishlist, too. I'm sure there will be plenty of deals on those game come BF/Xmas. I believe Gamestop will have Tomb Raider for like $15 on BF ( right now it's already fairly cheap at $20 ). Far Cry 4 is another game that I often see for cheap.

as for the 1TB external drive, I'm guessing it would work, since it worked for the PS3?

You'd have to plug it into the PS4 and see if it recognizes it for playing media files and for saving your game data.

Way to go Spidey

I'd recommend the Gold Wireless Headset as well, affordable and pretty good quality  That headset has a companion app in the PSN store as well that lets you download different sound profiles created from the game developers themselves for the optimal sound to that game or similar ones.

Also, if you have a decent enough smartphone, download the PlayStation app and link your account. Makes message sending a lot easier when you just do it from your phone as a 2nd screen or sending through the app itself when you're not even at home. Can also turn the system on/off and a few other things with the app  Oh, and you can technically make your own profile avatar whatever you want with the app as well (for those who see your real name at least).

Yeah, I'm looking to get a few of the older games used from Gamefly in the $10-15 range, and the newer games from stores in the $25-40 range. I diud this a couple of years ago, the last time I

Thanks, I'll be honest, I wasn't considering a headset, but after doing some research, I am a little more interested.

Also, I had the app already in anticipation for this :D

So any recommendations on a good pair of thumbsticks? I don't anticipate myself needing them anytime soon but I would love to have a reference for when I'm ready.

if you're comfortable with taking your controller apart i'd recommend xbone thumbsticks.

Im buying a 2tb HDD this month. Hopefully there will be good deals on BF but regardless I have to as I plan on getting at least 3 new games and I dont have space to install them and their updates.

Been on PS4 for almost 5 months already. No regrets! Haven't gone back to PC gaming since then.

Games are a bit expensive though.. I've got Batman:AK, MK X, The Last of Us, Battlefield: Hardline, GTA V and COD: AW. The last one I bought was AW and that was around 3 months ago, due to the high price of the games. For future, I plan on buying only one game in 4-5 months. The last game I will probably buy for this year will be SW: Battlefront. If I can afford it, I might go for Fallout 4 as well.

Like I said in the BF thread.. My wife preordered and paid off the Star Wars PS4 for me.. said I can have it as an early Christmas present. Total surprise.

As always my PSN is Benstamania..Looking forward to playing some of the games I missed this past year and a half. I think Bloodborne is the first on my list, but that will for gift cards.

I'm glad that Premium Avatars are available for the PS4 now, and that the PS3 avatars are transferrable to the PS4.

would be nice if you could buy the PS3 avatars through the PS4 store, but at least you can purchase them through the online store.

now, if only they'd let you use custom images as your background...........

I honestly love the all matte black PS4 that one glossy part stuck out and was way to sensitive to dust and scratches and I LOVE the physical buttons over the touch sensitive ones.
