I'd like to know which of you guys will be buying the PS4 Pro.

I'll get is as soon as it comes to my country, but I'll wait at least until Black Friday to see if I can get a good bundle.

I'll be getting it.

though I'm less sure if I'll get it next week or wait a few more weeks for the inevitable BF deals.

Hmm I thought some would have put this up. Ok new news on the ps4 pro.

Insomniac Games shared details about the Ratchet & Clank PlayStation 4 Pro update at the PlayStation Blog. 4K TV users will be able to play at a higher resolution, and if your TV supports it, in HDR with an HDMI 2.0 cable. HDTV users will see a big increase in gameplay image quality. A technique called “Temporal Injection” is being used to attain higher resolutions, as well as eliminate jaggies with anti-aliasing. View a set of 4K screenshots at the gallery.
Square Enix shared details about the Hitman PlayStation 4 Pro update in a press release. “The overall resolution has been increased, aliasing reduced, reflective surfaces improved and we get more detailed lighting effects, all without compromising the frame rate or the overall gaming experience. A clean and crisp UI rendered natively in 4K, furthermore it uses the extra memory of the PS4 Pro to stream in higher quality textures, yielding more details… Players without 4K will also benefit from the increased resolution as the image will be downsampled to 1080p to benefit from higher quality shading and less flickering highlights.”
In addition to the 40-plus titles above, more than 45 titles will be optimized for PlayStation 4 Pro by the end of 2016, including Watch Dogs 2, Killing Floor 2, The Last Guardian, and Final Fantasy XV. Next year, titles like Nioh, Resident Evil 7: biohazard, and For Honor will follow, in addition to all first-party software, including Gravity Rush 2, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Days Gone, and Gran Turismo Sport.
Speaking of Nioh, the Team Ninja-developed action game will have four graphical modes on PlayStation 4 Pro (thanks, @DvLZGaME):

  • HD Option 1: “Movie Mode” – Stable 1920×1080 resolution with high quality anti-aliasing at 30fps
  • HD Option 2: “Action Mode” – Stable 1920×1080 resolution at 60fps
  • 4K Option 1: “Movie Mode” – Stable 3840×2160 resolution at 30fps
  • 4K Option 2: “Action Mode” – Stable 1920×1080 resolution at 60fps
PlayStation 4 Pro will launch worldwide on November 10 for $399 / €399 / £349 / ¥44,980.

that's a pretty good list of titles, both past and future, that will take advantage of the Pro.

what I'm hoping is that titles not on that list, SF V for example, will at least be upscaled to 4K by the Pro, similar to how the X1 S upscales all games to 4K.

It's hard to believe just how HUGE the OG X1 was and that the Pro is roughly the same height as the X1 S! :wow:

PSVR Processor does not allow for HDR pass through.

http://www.polygon.com/2016/10/3/13150140/playstation-vr-4k-hdr-pass-through

I just heard about this, so sorry if it's been posted already, but I am astounded by this.

The VR is already a mess of wires, and being able to leave the processing unit hooked up for regular play is a saving grace. To build the unit and not allow for one of the PS4 Pro's biggest features (HDR) is a glaring oversight at best, and a terrible decision at worst.

This is exactly why I'm not a fan of being an early adopter. I'll wait another year or two until they either master the tech, or give up on it altogether.

This, coupled with the lack of 4K Bluray support really makes me scratch my head. Especially when the new Xbox 1 S will have that. I really enjoy my PSVR and have been considering upgrading to 4K (which means not only getting the PS4 Pro, but also a 4K TV and upgrading my surround sound receiver to a 4K compatiable one), but these little things really make me consider against it.

Well... looks like I'll be getting the Pro from Studio and not the VR, as they let my order go because my payment of the £213 didn't process until the 31st, and they won't be getting anymore in till the 16th of Dec, with zero guarantee of even that... I thought, "**** that", so I've cancelled the order and will be replacing it with the order of the Pro. Hopefully this VR order will cancel in time so I can order the Pro quickly enough so they don't run out of stock as well. The 4K tv will have to wait, as I'm going to be getting the VR at the end of the month instead...

Life can be a bummer sometimes, but worse things happen :o

So my PS4 Pro just shipped. Originally I had no intention of buying it since I do not have a 4K TV yet and am really waiting for Samsung to release their 90 Inch 4K down the road and for the price to go down. So I plan on getting a new TV in late '18. But the reason I made the jump primarily was reading all the articles how the Pro actually may have more use for 1080P upgrades than 4K. Some devs/games have already done with some games, setting everything to max and having a higher framerate. From some of the stuff I read at NeoGaf it seemed like it may be more beneficial for 1080P possibilities than that of 4K since neither this or the Scorpio will do Native 4K. Though I hear from DF that the checkboarding that the Pro uses actually works really well. But it seems that devs are maybe able to get some really good graphical upgrades with 1080P, and also allowing it to run better.

But everyone says the supersampling on the 1080P versions were actually really good. So I figured heck I'll make that jump.

90 inch? That's gonna be beautiful.

Right now I have a 65 inch Plasma from Samsung the last Plasma model they ever made. I've seen their 85 inch and it looks glorious. The prices on these bigger TV's are getting smaller and once you go above 70 inch I always noticed more of the pixels on Blu-Ray. So I figure 4K would be good for something even bigger than that. I enjoy as much of a theater experience in my home as I can get.

Same here. I've been watching films and playing games on a film projector since I first started working but have had to scale down after moving recently due to lack of wall space. My main lounge TV is 75 inch and that is all that will fit without moving lights (which I will probably do next time lol) but with the way TVs are made nowadays you can be really close and watching it all day long with no negative effects. 4K would make a lot of difference at that size and that's great if you can get something like that. Upgrading to the Pro would be almost compulsory too with a beast like that. ;)

I got a preview and review from both different gamer news out let sites .

Sony's newest PlayStation 4 takes advantage of 4K displays, but is that enough to warrant a second purchase?

My Pro came today, but have to wait for the full experience at the end of the month when I get the TV.

I'm definitely noticing improvements on my 1080p tv, mind. Tried TLOU, and now onto Uncharted 4 :D

The home screen is much sharper and brighter, and the console itself is like a church mouse in terms of sound :p

great to hear!

I was kind of hoping you had a 4K tv, cuz there were a few things I wanted to get confirmed.

namely, if the Pro actually upscales/outputs EVERY PS4 game, including the older non Pro-patched games, to 4K on a 4K tv.

And by that I mean, when you check the input resolution on your tv, it would say 2160p or 4K for every game running on the PS4 Pro, even those without a specific Pro patch.

That's what the X1 S did for me. It upscaled every game to 4K according to my 4K TV's display info.

I wish I knew myself :hmm

I was checking to see any visual differences and I definitely notice them - images being sharp clear. TLOU and U4 both have the HDR feature in their options display menu.

^ yeah. but TLOU and U4 both are games that get Pro patches, right?

Hopefully some other posters here with 4K tvs will get the Pro today or tomorrow.

I was planning on trading in my PS4 to the Pro this weekend, but I kind of want to get that question ( about upscaling older games ) answered before buying the Pro.....lol.

Nice, I wanted to know about this.

Rodrigo,

Does the Pro do anything to improve the Web Browser app?

on some sites, like this forum, the text is very small and hard to read. If you use the Zoom function, then it makes the site too big and you have to scroll left and right to read the whole page.

so, I was wondering if the Pro did anything to make the Browser text bigger by default or something?

I've been on it and while it's now lightening fast, it's identical to the PS4's function. No changes :/

^ thanks.

maybe there will be a difference when hooked up to a 4K tv.
