Retro/Grade, an Independent Games Festival nominee for best game design, is making its way off of PSN ... we mean, onto PSN. See, the thing that makes this shmup different is that all the action happens backwards -- like a classic space shooter meets Memento. Comparison can also be made between this game and WiiWare's Bit.Trip.

There's a long writeup of the game over at the PlayStation Blog. One of the cooler things implemented in the title is the use of a guitar controller to control the ship. The fret buttons will allow the player to move, while the strum bar is used as the "shoot" button. You can get an idea of what it'll look like in the video after the break.

Sounds like a pretty tricky concept. Will be interesting to see I think

The Behemoth's four-player, hack 'n slash Xbox Live Arcade title Castle Crashers has crashed right through the wall of platform exclusivity and is coming to PlayStation 3, the developer announced on the eve of San Diego Comic-Con. According to GameSpot, a playable version of the game for PS3 will be on the show floor tomorrow for attendees to gets their hands on.

Castle Crashers hit Xbox Live Arcade on August 27, 2008 and reached a milestone of 1 million players last month. The version for Sony's console has yet to be dated -- or detailed beyond the fact that it'll include Trophies -- but might we suggest dropping it on the one-year anniversary of the 360 version's launch? (With lots of new goodies, of course.)

Even if it is, it's a pretty good one to have honestly. One of the funner XBLA games I've played honestly. The XBLA/PC versions have a lot of bugs though. I think it's all been patched up and everything, but I hope the PSN version won't suffer from all that

Why the heck did Activision now put out a demo for Call of Duty WaW? I usually say its fine to release a demo after release but this is 9 months after the game came out. Its way past its launch window. The game sold very well and doesnt need a demo now to boost sales. Besides its kinda old now and with MW2 coming out soon, no one who hasnt already gotten WaW is interested in it now since they have MW2 to look forward to. Not seeing the purpose in this very late demo

Yay, Fat Princess will be here Thursday

The release date for Fat Princess -- which has been nebulous for a while now -- has finally been nailed down. You'll be playing some class-based cartoony multiplayer (with a dash of bloody ultraviolence) this Thursday, July 30. This is a simultaneous release for American, European and Asian regions -- though a Japanese release date has yet to be confirmed.

While the adorable cartoon protagonists will be losing arms and legs liberally, you'll be able to keep yours firmly attached thanks to a reasonable asking price of $15. No doubt European and Asian prices will be announced soon. Make sure you check out the PlayStation Blog for a PlayStation Eye interview with the developers from Titan Studios.

Head’s Up’: Expected EU PlayStation Store Update For 30th July 2009

So the experiment begins. This content list is what we expect to be releasing tomorrow onto the store, and the below content should be all present and correct when we publish the update.

However – and here is my disclaimer – if for whatever reason some of the content is pulled at the last minute, I will update this blog posting, and will also post in the comments section to let you know what’s happened and why.

This is as much ‘early warning’ as I can currently give for what content we’ll be bringing to the store, I know it’s only one day, but I believe that this extra day will not only show you what’s coming, but will help to manage expectations. I’ve read some sceptics on the forums saying that I’ll only do this when there is good content coming, so let me clarify for you and say ‘not true’. I will post every week on a Wednesday regardless of what content is releasing.

Okay, now I’ve got that all out the way – I’m sure you all know by now that we have Fat Princess out this week! After having a play in the beta myself, I can’t wait to play the full version, and I’m sure I’ll bump into some of you on the cake strewn battlefield!

We also have the second episode of Watchmen: The End Is Nigh available, as well as a demo for Numblast (both PS3 and PSP versions), and additional content for Fight Night Round 4, Rag Doll Kung Fu: Fists of Plastic, Buzz! and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. There’s also some full game love for you PSP users, with Samurai Warriors: State of War and Unbound Saga available too.

PlayStation Store Update – 6th August 2009

Hello all. After our experiment to go out early last week, we’ve decided to revert back to providing the store updates on the blog on a Thursday, to ensure you have the most accurate information possible. However, we will make sure that the content updates are provided nice and early on a Thursday morning so that you still have quite a bit of warning as to what will be available later in the day. I think this is a good middle ground between the test from last week, and when we used to publish the content updates after the store was updated, so I hope you’ll still feel this is an improvement on how we used to do it.

I apologise that the Wednesday test was so short-lived, but it turns out that it was more difficult than I’d first anticipated for our teams to confirm completely accurate content that much in advance.

Okay, so onto the content this week, we have another mixed bag available for you, from the quiz game TV Show King, to the demo version of Batman: Arkham Asylum, via a trial for Rag Doll Kung-Fu to the third map pack for the ever popular Call of Duty: World at War.

The Waldgeist expansion pack for Savage Moon has also arrived, as well as additional content for LittleBigPlanet, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood and Fight Night Round 4. That’s not all though, for a complete list scroll down for more!
