The Official Pull List Discussion thread

Does this mean we're not getting A: TI this month, or does the Annual come out and take the place of it?

I'm thinking of adding a few titles to my monthly list. What are some of your suggestions? I wanted to check out 'Simon Dark' but my comic shop doesn't carry it. I'm also thinking of adding 'Amazing Spider-Man' back to my list.

My list:
-New Avengers
-Daredevil
-Batman
-Detective Comics
-Superman/Batman
-Green Lantern
-Star Wars: Knight of the Old Republic
-Star Wars: Legacy
-Star Wars: Dark Times
-Star Wars: Rebellion

Don't add Amazing back, it's not very good right now. OMD/whatever the next arc is probably where im jumping off.

Off the top of my head my list is the following;

Action Comics
Amazing Spiderman
Annihilation Conquest (And all mini's, but they're over)
Avengers: The Initiative
Batman
Blue Beetle
Booster Gold
Cable/Deadpool
Countdown
Detective Comics
Gotham Underground
Green Lantern
Green Lantern Corps
Immortal Iron Fist
Justice League of America
Justice Society of America
Marvel Zombies 2
Mighty Avengers
Moon Knight
New Avengers
Nightwing
Nova
Robin
Superman
Teen Titans
Thor
Trials of Shazam
X-Factor

Probably missing a few, cause they wern't in my stack of comics that still needed to be bagged/boarded, but that's pretty much the jist of what I have subbed.

God I wish I could go back to only 10 or so titles. Theres three or four that I didn't mention on there that are goning to be added soon or are already on there, which brings me up to a grand total of 32.

Yea,I made sure that I snag up all the trades I've ever wanted before year's end.Considering the size of my list next year,I'm not going to have alot of extra cash to spend on trades.

Opening the door for scrutiny, I was curious as to how many comics I was actively reading.

I have broken up my list into titles that are Ongoing, Mini's, and Canceled. I also had to have bought said title for at least the past 2-3 months/issues.

These do NOT include TPB's, many upcoming mini's, or one-shots.

Ongoing:
Astonishing X-Men
Amazing Spider-Man
Astounding Wolf-Man
Avengers: The Initiative
Blue Beetle
Booster Gold
Captain America
Detective Comics (Dini non-crossover issues)
Dynamo 5
Fantastic Four
Ghost Rider
Immortal Iron Fist
Invincible
Marvel Comics Presents
Mighty Avengers
Moon Knight
New Avengers
New Warriors
Nova
Punisher: War Journal
Runaways
The Order
The Spirit
Thor
Ultimate Fantastic Four
Ultimate X-Men
X-Men: First Class

Mini's:
All-Star Superman
Annihilation Conquest (prelude, the 3 mini's, and the event mini proper)
Captain Marvel (a 7 out of 10 chance at this point)
Fearless
The Loners
New Avengers: The Illuminati (just ended)
One More Day
Ultimate Power
Umbrella Academy (hopefully the first of many)
World War Hulk

Canceled:
Irredeemable Ant-Man

As you can see, at least 87% of my titles are Marvel, with 2-3 DC and 3 Image titles, with Umbrella Academy being Dark Horse's only appearance on the list. It is worth noting that those few Image titles are among my favorites every month, and Umbrella Academy probably should be included in that distinction. They are the steak dinners, while a few of those Marvel titles are like fast food. But Marvel's got plenty of gems, too.

New Avengers I usually hate. Mighty Avengers is better but I often take issue with it. By all rights I should consider dropping Ultimate X-Men after the next issue and see if I really have any faith left in Kirkman's run, now that he's outlasted Vaughan and made the book worse. Moon Knight I would have dropped if not for a new creative team coming next issue. I may edit this if I forgot something.

Good list. You should dump Ultimate X-men though. Unless you're a masochist or some such. If so then you should read Clairmont's Exiles. That's like shoving a hot poker up your pooper.

Subscriptions:

Ghost Rider

-

Other comics I'll buy occasionally:

X-Men
Daredevil
Conan Graphic Novels
And anything else (usually Graphic Novels) that I feel like

What's a pull list?

Thats when you go to the comic shop and tell the guy to pull these comics from the shelf because your too lazy to pull them off yourself. They put your name on a list and will call you when they have all the comics...or if you're a super nerd you'll stop by before they call.

Thanks. I've known better than to read much of what Clairmont has written the past many years.

I like Kirkman, and after his first year I do believe he has a direction on Ult. XM, the problem is I doubt it will be terribly good. He's done everything to the book that shouldn't have been repeated with the X-Men. Time Travel. Flirting with aliens. Breaking up a team of likable, well known characters into more than one squad that doesn't interact. And mindlessly imitating past stories from the 80's or late 60's without evaluating why they didn't work. For a while it also had some rather shoddy art, but the last arc has improved on that regard. Like I said, the next issue is the last of this arc and there I will evaluate if it is worth sticking on, now that he's been on about 2 years (and 22 or so issues, plus an annual) and has steered the book for the worse since Jan. 2006, when his first issue shipped. It is Kirkman's worst book. Because life isn't fair, it outsells all his better ones, save for MARVEL ZOMBIES.

GHOST RIDER will also be getting a new creative team after Way wraps up this last arc. So, like Moon Knight, it is worth seeing what the new kids will bring. Least for me.

Ultimate X-Men has been getting good again  I'm willing to give Kirkman a pass for that horrible Date Night arc.

I actually have my shop pull trades for me also; Mouse Guard, Ex: Machina, Y: The Last Man, Invincible, Astro City, Rex Mundi & Samurai: Heaven & Earth. I should probably convert to buying the monthlies but I enjoy the look of them on my shelf and those tend to come out regularly enough.

What is Casanova about? I remember there being a preview in the back of one of my comics... maybe Fell. But apart from the art nothing immediately grabbed me.

It's....kinda hard to explain. Lets see, Casanova Quinn was this super thief, and terrorist for hire. he was the son of this nick fury type character who was in charge of this SHIELD like organization called E.M.P.I.R.E. And he had a twin sister who was their best field agent. Life was good for Quinn until his sister was killed, and he found himself abducted into a conspiracy that snatched him up from his Earth, to an alternate version were everything was reversed. (I.E. he was the good son that got killed, and his sister was the evil thief and terrorist for hire.) And this kinda follows Quinn's adventures posing as a dead alternate version of himself, infiltrating his fathers clandestine organization, with awesome artwork and excellent dialog the likes of which you've rarely seen in comics.

Like I said, hard to explain....:o

Nah mate, good explanation and wow, that actually does sound fantastic.

What issue and any trades or announced?

The first arc is out in trade. I believe the last issue to come out was, 12 I think? I'd have to check when I get home.

Thanks for telling me,i could have guessed Anubis would have told me.But i guess he was in a bad mood at the time. When you mean pull,do you mean save them so when you get to the store..you can buy them?Instead of just going there, and risk the comic you want to buy..not being in stock?
