Being unimpressed with bad reviews makes you a bad fan :huh:

If anything it makes you a BETTER fan, since it's disbelief and outrage at what has happened to a series which touched so many people
 
the only problem is that most people on this board are already passing judgement even though they havent seen the movie. im not surprised that DorkyFresh is leading this group....no offence DF.

I find it puzzling as to why some people think that having reasonable expectations for a film is a negative symptom. It only means that we are aware that the material wasn't properly handled by 20th Century Fox. I think the clips and the way the film plays out according to most reviews plus a ton of other information we have received since production started has come to a halting culmination that informs us that this film isn't anywhere near the realm of "good" and is in fact the complete opposite.

Leading a group? What are you talking about? That's a ridiculous assumption to make. You can pass judgment on movie before seeing it you know. It's not a crime. That's why they show the viewers trailers and clips to promote the movie. None of the trailers or clips are promising. Seeing the whole thing won't make much of a difference really.

Exactly. I'm tired of this "you're not a true fan" nonsense. Some people are just hoping for the movie to be great just because it's titled Dragon Ball.

They're trying to emulate Vegeta's "A true Saiyan..." babble.

So far things seem to be a bit mixed. The more "Positive Reviews" tend to say "This isn't the best movie, but it is good fun" and the more"Negative Reviews" tend to say "This is a horrible movie, it's on par with Chun Li."
From this we can at least assume that this wont be a great movie or anywhere near the level of say "The Dark Knight". Personally, anyone expecting Dragonball to be on that level in terms of calibur, has incredibly jaded visions of Dragonball.. Regardless, we can still say the movie will suck or it's decent/good. At least, that's how I see things.

here's a somewhat positive review from MTV Asia. They gave it 5 out of 10 stars...though the users reviews is much higher-9 out of 10 stars.






Despite the hype and solid foundation on which Dragonball Evolution is grounded, it seems much has been lost in translation, when Hollywood decided to do a remake of this well-loved manga. At a run time of 86 minutes, the film progression felt a tad rushed, therefore you can expect a good many blatant, careless loopholes in the plot.

What was alright about Dragonball Evolution was that the acting was mostly decent all around. They did what they were supposed to, and nobody grated. Chow Yun Fatt though, was pretty excellent, in my opinion. He played Master Roshi with a perfect combination of cheeky lasciviousness and sagely wisdom.

Which is still not much of a saving grace, when push comes to shove. On the whole, Dragonball Evolution felt pretty much like just another Hollywood blockbuster, that's riding on the wave of fantasy flicks.

i wasn't hating on anyone's opinion and i'm definitely not saying that anyone with a negative opinion are not a true fans. all that stuff is BS. i actually know that DFresh is a passionate fan and i rather enjoy his posts. they're actually pretty interesting and seem well thought out . anyone who has been on the boards long enough and knows DF, knows that he has been on the DB:E hate wagon. i'm just making an observation and stating that he is going to post mostly bad reviews. i'm not saying the movie will be good or bad. i'm just saying that i'm going to reserve my judgement for when i see the film and i strongly encourage everyone to do the same. i know you can understand that and that i'm not trying to hate on anyone's opinion whether it's good or bad. sorry for such a long reply...lol.

I plan on watching the film, but those reviews really put a damper on things, I guess its one of those feelings where I knew the film wasnt gonna be that great, but I still held out a shred of hope.

i agree that 14 mins is a decent amount of footage but i'd like to see the film as a whole. i know it's easy to pass judgement but it's not always easy to completely tell based on a trailer and a few clips.Watchmen was pretty close to the source as far as i know and some people were still hating on it. dont get me wrong, i'm a pretty huge fan of the entire world of DB and if they screw alot up, i'm going to be pretty pissed.

s'all good man...no offense taken, and i actually agree with most of the stuff you said. i'm not gonna lie and say i don't hate what Fox has done with this movie, and i WILL probably post mostly negative reviews. i've posted a couple of fair to positive reviews, but i will maintain that, even though i'm biased, the reviews so far have been fairly negative. not OVERLY negative, however, even the positive ones say that they have to lower their expectations in order to give the film a chance at a "fair" review.
 
its not like dorky has a hard time finding negative reviews.
i think there will be like 20 % positive reviews and 80% negaitve.
 
Wow, that fan film is pretty good. Imagine what they could have done with 100 million.

The energy blasts in DBE do look phony and powdery, LOL. In the fan film, they look like they have some actual punch or "weight" behind them.
