extremely highly. it's probably one of the single best Marvel stories ever done.

Sounds good, I know it was featured in Wizards 100 best TPB stories ever told. So I figured it was pretty damn good.

some of his best, IMO. His later style is certainly incredible, but I personally thought his early style on this book was better

Batman: The Cult

I love these books I had all four when I was younger then my *****e bag of a friend borrowed two and turned into a *****e bag. I wound up buying them later on to replace them and it was worth the money. A litle uncommon but not overly so. They should be fairly easy to find. I don't want to give anything away but the title should imply what the story is about. A cult, lead by a preacher type character that actually
breaks the Batman, but his vegence is priceless
. Highly reccommended if you haven't read it yet

Are Ronin and Hard Boiled any good?
I actually just read Hard Boiled yesterday. The book felt like it was written SOLELY to showcase Geof Darrow's incredibly intricate art, because the story is kind of weak and extrememly short, but man does it look good.

Ronin is excellent if you like Frank Millar or science fiction. Alot of people accused Samurai Jack of ripping it off. I would definitely recommend it.

Oh yeah, ******ed me, I never made the connection. Jack is way cooler in my opinion. Miller's work in Ronin was pretty sloppy.

eh, he was young, and that's when he was experimenting with a more expressive style. I don't mind it.

And personally, there's room enough in my heart to love both Ronin AND Jack

I couldn't figure out who's who from panel to panel. All of the people looked the same. And the story hasn't aged well.

the Doom TPB, books of Doom, Unthinkable TPB

I've heard of Books of Doom and Unthinkable but not of The Doom. Do you mean the Ultimate Fantastic Four volume called "Doom"?

I still love Frank Miller :( , so Ronin is worth getting. Does anyone know if the Cable & Deadpool trades worth getting?

Wow. Weak story????

I felt it was pretty deep.

An artificial Intelligence coming to terms with the realization that is not Human as it was programmed to believe.

Pretty Deep stuff in my opinion.

You have to read between the lines in hardboiled>

Not a book for the passive reader.

Quick question; apart from Inhumans by Jae Lee & Paul Jenkins. Is there another trade which focuses on Blackbolt and the Inhumans. I've always found them terrably interesting but never really read them as anything else but supporting cast in big events.

Dude, I finally got around to seeing that Battle Royale movie. Man, pretty good stuff. Bloody as hell. I might check out the Manga too.

give it a try if you want, but the manga doesn't have the heart of the film and is more about gore

Eli.... you should update the list in the front.

Makes it easier to find stuff being discussed in here.

yeah, I know, I should also try to do some more full writes ups

I've been thinking about having a seperate closed thread where complete writes up would be posted without discussion in between. What would you think about that?

I think that is a good idea, I could certainly add some write ups for things not done yet too. I often come to this thread when I'm looking for new things to buy but it is not really the easiest thing to navagate.

that's what I've been thinking too OK. I'll start it up at some point moving things around as I can

You know coming back from X3 the other day I started thinking on how I never really gave Ultimate X-Men a shot. For the record I dont read any Ultimate titles but I remember picking up Ultimate X-Men with the now famous Blockbuster arc. Lets just say I dropped the book after the firts issue of the new Mutants arc. Ive always wondered what Millar and Kubert did in the beginning. So should I bother looking into the first hardcover at least or let it die?

I really liked Millar's run, but it comes down to personal taste, especially when dealing with X-Men.

Millar's run had it's good and it's bad points. His characterization of Jean was a bit iffy, and his version of the Sentinel program was not only irrational on the government's part but was basically a 50 billion dollar hate crime. But it was still a good read.

I don't see what was the problem with either of those things.

I mean, Jean was for a good long while the only girl with a whole bunch of horomonely messed-up dudes, it'd only make sense to pick up some of that.

And its not like a government has ever put a lot of money into something that proved to be prejudadice before...
